Game Gear titles come to the 3DS eShop in this week’s Nintendo Download

The 3DS Virtual Console has absorbed another classic system as a trio of Game Gear games were added to the 3DS eShop today. Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble, Shinobi, and Dragon Crystal can all be downloaded today!
Joining them are the DSiWare title Pirates Assault and the Wii Virtual Console release of Samurai Shodown IV: Amakusa’s Revenge.
Finally this week, the first installment of the Kid Icarus 3D Anime, “Thanatos Rising,” is available to download to your 3DS.
More information on all of these titles can be found after the break. (more…)
New Releases: Tales of Graces F, Silent Hill Downpour, Yakuza Dead Souls, More

It’s “The Wait is Over Week” in this week’s edition of the new release report as a trio of games that were announced a long time ago finally make it to store shelves:
Japan has always been a game or two ahead of the US when it comes to Namco Bandai’s Tales series. So fans of the RPG franchise will be pleased to know that the PS3-exclusive Tales of Graces F is ready for release.
The US releases in Sega’s Yakuza series are typically the victim of a similar situation. And so it goes with this week’s new entry in the series, Yakuza: Dead Souls (PS3), which was originally released in Japan in early 2011.
But when it comes to Silent Hill: Downpour (PS3, Xbox 360), gamers have had to wait a while for the game due to a good old-fashioned delay. Several of them, in fact. But it too will be in stores this week.
Finally, EA’s FIFA Street series has suffered any delays, territorial or otherwise. Instead, it just disappeared for a few years. But the franchise is back, in rebooted form, as FIFA Street on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Hit the jump for the complete list of this week’s new releases including a pair of plane games and the new Naruto game. (more…)

Nintendo Download: Punch-Out!!, Zuma’s Revenge, more
This week’s Nintendo Download is going to knock you out! Between Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream on the 3DS eShop and The King of Fighters ’97 on the Wii Virtual Console, the brawling just doesn’t stop. Do you see three of them? Hit the one in the middle!
Also available this week is PopCap-tastic puzzle game Zuma’s Revenge (on the DSi Shop) and Fun! Fun! Minigolf Touch! (on the 3DS eShop).
More details on all of these games can be found right here:
Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream (3DS eShop) – Play as young boxer Little Mac and battle the big guys of the World Video Boxing Association. Take them on one by one, from Glass Joe all the way to the WVBA Champion himself.
The King of Fighters ’97 (Wii Virtual Console) – The King of Fighters ’97 is the fourth game in The King of Fighters series, once again allowing players to combat opponents with popular characters from games such as Fatal Fury, Ikari Warriors, Psycho Soldier and Art of Fighting.
Zuma’s Revenge (DSi Shop) – An irresistible force has taken our fearless frog to a newly evolved world of Zuma ruled by evil tiki bosses. Fire stone spheres to destroy the deadly stream of balls in this ball-blasting challenge.
Fun! Fun! Minigolf Touch! (3DS eShop) – Play minigolf with your Mii character and master new cups and trick-shot challenges in beautiful environments. The perfect touch-screen controls make for a fun and rewarding putting experience.

New Releases: Mass Effect 3, Street Fighter X Tekken, MLB 2K12/MLB 12, More

It’s here. It’s finally here. The grand finale of the Mass Effect trilogy, Mass Effect 3, will be available for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on March 6. It’s been a long wait (made longer by EA’s decision to delay the game from its original Fall 2011 release date), but it’s almost over.
However, other companies aren’t backing down from the juggernaut that is Commander Shepard…
- Capcom is bowing their 2D crossover fighter Street Fighter X Tekken (PS3, Xbox 360).
- A twin bill of baseball games will be available including Sony’s MLB 12: The Show (PS3, Vita) and 2K’s more inclusive Major League Baseball 2K12 (DS, PC, PS2 (!), PS3, PSP (!!), Wii, Xbox 360).
- Namco Bandai is bringing back the Ridge Racer series in Ridge Racer Unbounded (PS3, Xbox 360), a title that has really managed to stay under the radar.
- Zipper Interactive (creator of the SOCOM series) will make their Vita debut with Unit 13.
- And Nintendo wants everyone to do the Mario one more time on the Wii with Mario Party 9.
Even EA isn’t afraid to compete against itself, as the publisher plans to ship The Sims 3: Showtime for the PC this week in both a Limited Edition and a Katy Perry Special Edition (scandalized muppets not included).
Believe it or not, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are even more new releases after the break. (more…)

Nintendo Download: Metroid, Crush 3D demo, Spot The Difference
This week’s Nintendo Download brings the NES classic Metroid to the 3DS eShop. But before you Justin Bailey your way through Zebes, you might also want to know that a demo of Crush 3D, Sega’s in-your-face puzzler is also available to download. Finally this week, the find-the-object game Aahh! Spot The Difference was added to the DSiWare Shop.
If you’re still in the dark about this week’s new releases, here’s a little bit more information, straight from Nintendo:
Metroid (3DS eShop) – Packed with high-tech weaponry, creepy tunnels and hideous alien creatures, the first installment in the immensely successful Metroid series introduces us to the slick, cybernetic bounty hunter Samus Aran.
Aahh! Spot The Difference (DSiWare) – Demonstrate your powers of observation in this engaging “spot the difference” game. Complete 40 challenging levels in four unique scenarios by spotting the differences between the upper and lower screen.
US gets Pokemon Black/White 2 this Fall too

As expected, Nintendo of America has announced that Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 will be released this Fall. So if you’re keeping track at home, that means Japan will get the pair of DS games this June, followed by a European/North American release a few months later in the Fall.
According to Nintendo, “more game details will be announced throughout the year,” so I think this is the last we’ll be hearing about Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 for a while.

Pokemon Black/White 2 coming to Europe this Fall

One day after announcing that Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 will be available this June for Japanese audiences, Nintendo has revealed it’ll be released this Fall in Europe. That means only three to six months will pass between the Japanese and western releases of the DS game, a new record for a Pokemon title.
I’m sure Nintendo will announce a similar American release window for Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 later today.

Nintendo runs out of colors, announces Pokemon Black 2/White 2

I guess Nintendo finally ran out of colors as they announced the development of Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 today. The monochromatic sequels will be available for the DS in Japan in June.
Black 2/White 2 will be the first direct sequels in Pokemon’s fifteen history. Usually, Nintendo follows up the previous year’s pair of Pokemon games with a third title as a companion game (Red/Blue and Yellow, Gold/Silver and Crystal, Ruby/Sapphire and Emerald, etc.).
A North American release wasn’t announced, but this is Pokemon, of course there’ll be one. Typically, the American release lags six to eight months behind the Japanese one. So Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 should cross the Pacific in early 2013.
