New Releases: SSX, Binary Domain, Devil Survivor 2, More

With Sony’s Vita launch behind us, the rest of the video game world closes out February with a few big releases:
- EA’s SSX returns on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
- Sega’s Yakuza Studio tries their hand at tech noir with Binary Domain (PS3, Xbox 360)
- Atlus releases another hardcore Japanese RPG. This time it’s Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 for the DS.
- Speaking of hardcore Japanese RPGs, NIS America plans to release Hyperdimension Neptunia MK-2 for the PS3.
- But on the lighter side of things, there’s PokePark 2: Wonders Beyond for the Wii.
- And on the even lighter side of things, NetherRealm has compiled the Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
OK, that last one was a joke. You can check out the full list of the rest of this week’s new releases after the break. (more…)

New Amazing Spider-Man trailer reveals Rhino, June 26 release date
When you think of Spider-Man’s greatest villains, The Rhino is not usually a name that comes to mind. So naturally, developer Beenox gave him the Bane treatment in their game adaptation of The Amazing Spider-Man.
In addition to a very menacing Rhino and a creepy soundtrack, the new trailer above also reveals that The Amazing Spider-Man will be available in stores on June 26 for the 3DS, DS, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360.
Young Justice: Legacy announced
Young Justice, a Cartoon Network show, is about the get the RPG treatment with its own video game, Young Justice: Legacy. Game publisher Little Orbit has signed on with Warner Bros. to create a multiplayer action RPG for the DS, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360.
New episodes of the show will begin airing on March 3. The show features Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis as teenage heroes, sent out as a covert team by the Justice League. The game will take place between the first season and the second season, and is being written with Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti, the two show writers. The game will feature “fan favorite playable characters, cameo appearances by popular Justice League heroes and villains, and includes online multiplayer as well as local multiplayer modes.”
Matt Scott, CEO of Little Orbit, said, “The TV series is a fantastic combination of compelling writing, witty humor, iconic art, and exciting action sequences. The creators have done an amazing job blending over 180 DC Comics characters into their show filtered through a new, youthful perspective. The new video game contains a slew of cool features and a large playable cast of familiar heroes, but our core mission is to create a unique experience that fits seamlessly into the world of the show and offers a new way to interact with these popular DC Comics characters.”
Young Justice: Legacy will be out in early 2013.

Daily Scoop: February 21, 2012 – …and then I took an arrow to the knee
I, for one, am tired of the whole “arrow to the knee” meme, and I haven’t even played Skyrim yet. Does that just make me a jerk? Possibly. Do I care? Not really.
What I do care about are deals! Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games is Disney Princess: Magical Jewels on the DS. It’s just $9.99 today, which is 50% off the regular price. Scoop it up and you, too, can be a pretty, pretty princess!
Also, GameFly is having a big under $20 blowout sale on their used games! The sale includes some pretty good deals, like Brink for $6.99 on the Xbox 360, Gears of War 2 for $7.99, F.3.A.R. for $9.99 for PS3 and Xbox 360, and Tron: Evolution – Battle Grids for the Wii. Check it out!
Today’s video game t-shirt is a tired meme I may have alluded to already… (more…)
New Releases: Vita, Syndicate, Asura’s Wrath, More

After a special pre-launch launch last week, Sony is ready to officially launch their next handheld, the Vita, in two different packages: The $249.99 Wi-Fi Edition and the $299.99 3G/Wi-Fi Edition. A handful of additional launch titles will follow it into stores this week including Army Corps of Hell, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, and Touch My Katamari.
If you prefer to play on a full-size console, there are several other big releases this week including Starbreeze’s first-person shooter reboot of Syndicate (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) and Capcom’s crazy brawler, Asura’s Wrath (PS3, Xbox 360).
Finally, Konami plans to release Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D on that other handheld device (the 3DS).

Call of Duty: Black Ops voted “Best Ending” by Guinness World Records readers
Did you pass on the Guinness World Records 2012 Gamer’s Edition when it was released back in January? Then you missed their list of the “Top 50 Video Game Endings of All Time” as voted by 13,519 Guinness readers. But apparently this information was just begging to get out as Guinness released the full list over the weekend. And the winner is… [drummmmmmmmmmrollllllllll]… Call of Duty: Black Ops.
OK… sure… why not. But I guess that’s what you get when you award “records” based on a popular vote.
Black Ops was followed by Halo: Reach at number two and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time at number three.
The Guinness people weren’t too clear on what they considered a game’s “ending,” citing the entire final level for Black Ops, the post credits sequence for Halo: Reach, and the boss fight against Ganon for Ocarina of Time. So when you read the entire list (which can be found after the break), be sure to remember that it was about the furthest thing possible from a scientific poll.
Of course, the inclusion of Super Mario Bros. at number 11 (and four Mario games in total) probably tipped you off to that. (more…)
