New Releases: Shin Megami Tensei IV, Dynasty Warriors 8, Time and Eternity, More

It’s a “grab bag” week of new releases as there’s a little something for everyone.
Atlus is bringing their popular Shin Megami Tensei series (known as MegaTen to fans and well wishers) back to the 3DS with the fourth numbered entry in the series, Shin Megami Tensei IV. It will be joined by Time and Eternity, a hand-drawn PS3 RPG from NIS America, that other Japanese RPG powerhouse.
Fans of action games will be happy to know that another Dynasty Warriors game will be available in stores this week. Dynasty Warriors 8 will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360. In other action news, somebody packaged all of the Serious Sam games together for the Xbox 360-exclusive The Serious Sam Collection.
Finally this week, Turbo: Super Stunt Squad, from DreamWorks and D3 Publisher, will be released on nearly every system known to man: 3DS, DS, PS3, Wii, Wii U, and Xbox 360.
Nintendo Download: New Super Luigi U today… Project X Zone, Game & Wario next week

Mario’s brother gets the spotlight in this week’s Nintendo Download as New Super Luigi U is now available. You must own New Super Mario Bros. U to play it, but as you can above, a standalone disc-based version will be released in August if you just want Luigi. Also available today is Bugs vs. Tanks!, the latest 3DS game from Level-5’s “Guild-02” collection. It was developed with the assistance of Kenji Inafune, the creator of Mega Man. And speaking of Mega Man, Mega Man VI was added to the 3DS eShop today.
Other new releases today include:
- Mario Bros. (Wii U eShop)
- Wrecking Crew (Wii U eShop)
- Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (3DS eShop)
- Farming Simulator 3D (3DS eShop)
- Defenders of Oasis (3DS eShop)
- Sonic Blast (3DS eShop)
- Tails Adventure (3DS eShop)
- Rhythm Core Alpha 2 (DSiWare)
A few other high-profile games will be added to Nintendo’s download services before next week’s update including the minigame compilation Game & Wario (Wii U); the Namco Bandai/Sega/Capcom crossover Project X Zone (3DS); and the latest Lego game, Lego Legends of Chima: Laval’s Journey (3DS).

Injustice: Gods Among Us scores another sales knockout in the May 2013 NPD report

Yup, you can definitely tell we’re in a console transition period. Just a single new release was able to crack the list of the top ten best-selling games of May 2013.
Deep Silver’s Metro: Last Light was that game and the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 shooter was able to claim the sixth spot for the mutants of post-apocalyptic Russia. A pair of sorta-new releases helped push the profile of two titles that were originally released in years past. The 3DS version of Donkey Kong Country Returns lifted the game to #3 and the Wii U re-release of Lego Batman 2 helped the Brick Knight squeeze into the #10 slot.
According to Game Informer, sales of retail games are down 31% from May 2012 and retail sales are going to continue to drop as Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony move towards an all-digital future. Althugh, to be fair, May 2012 did include the release of Diablo III, which sold a ton of copies at retail.
The NPD Group’s complete report on the top ten best-selling games from May 2013 can be found after the break. (more…)
Nintendo Download: Super Metroid, Super Mario Bros. 2, Starship Damrey, more
Nintendo has pushed a rather hefty update onto the eShop this week, but it mostly consists of games you’ve played before.
Leading the way are this week’s Wii U Virtual Console releases: Super Metroid, Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts. If you act fast, you can also get two of the three on the cheap. Super Metroid is on sale for $0.30 for a limited time and Super Mario Bros. 2 is half off if you also buy Super Mario World.
The 3DS Virtual Console received a pair of new games today as well. Handheld gamers can now download the Mega Man V, originally released on the NES, or Harvest Moon, which was originally released on the Game Boy Color. A new game even made it onto the Wii’s Virtual Console, SNK’s The King of Fighters ’99.
If you’re looking for new titles, the 3DS eShop received two big ones today: The Starship Damrey, an action-adventure from Level-5’s “Guild02” collection, and Swords & Soldiers 3D, a 3DS update to the popular strategy game. Other new games available today include Bowling Bonanza 3D (3DS eShop), Dress To Play: Magic Bubbles! (3DS eShop), and California Super Sports (DSiWare).
While not part of today’s update, this week’s Nintendo Download also includes Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes and Resident Evil Revelations, two Wii U ports that will added to the Wii U eShop on Tuesday, 21.
Nintendo Download: Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move, More
The Mario and Donkey Kong series never seemed to catch on with gamers like some of Mario’s other sideline franchises. But that hasn’t stopped Nintendo from producing new games in the series and the fifth, Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move, is available on the 3DS eShop starting today. SpeedX 3D: Hyper Edition, a tunnel racer, has also been added to the 3DS eShop this week.
Three other games and a demo are also available this week…
- Xevious and Solomon’s Key come to the Wii U Virtual Console
- Publisher Dream, a “game design tycoon” game, is available on the DSiWare Shop.
- And finally, a Resident Evil Revelations demo will be added to the Wii U eShop on May 14.
More information on all of these titles can be found after the break. (more…)
Nintendo Download: Tank! Tank! Tank! Free-To-Play, Mega Man, Pac-Man, more
The Wii U’s Virtual Console expands by two today as Nintendo has added the NES games Mega Man and Pac-Man to their next-generation gaming time machine. The 3DS Virtual Console also expands today thanks to the addition of Balloon Fight.
Another re-release makes the Wii U eShop a more interesting place today: the free-to-play version of Namco Bandai’s Tank! Tank! Tank! The game was originally released as a disc-based game in November. The new free-to-play version will offer the “base game” as a free download with the remainder of the modes and missions available as ten separate pieces of downloadable content.
If you’d prefer something new from your Wii U shopping experience, Neko Entertainment has published the puzzle platformer Kung Fu Rabbit on the Wii U eShop.
More information on all of these games, and other new releases this week, can be found after the break. (more…)

Nintendo Download: Rayman Legends Challenges App, Mega Man IV, More
Rayman Legends may have been delayed until August to put it on the PS3 and Xbox 360, but Ubisoft has made good on their promise and added the Wii U-exclusive Rayman Legends Challenges App to the Wii U eShop. It’s a free download that includes access to four of the game’s levels: Land of the Livid Dead, Neverending Pit, Infinite Tower, and the GamePad-controlled Murfy’s Dungeon. If that weren’t enough, weekly online challenges are also included in the Challenges App.
Also available this week, on the 3DS eShop, is Mega Man IV, the Blue Bomber’s 1992 NES adventure.
Hit the jump for more details on both of these titles as well as three other new games released as part of this week’s Nintendo Download. (more…)
