After all the times they’ve died and come back to life, is anybody really surprised?

Daily Scoop: June 24, 2011 – Friday deals!

We’ve got a lot of deals for you today! First up is a great one at Amazon – their Deal of the Day in video games, which is Batman: Arkham Asylum: Game of the Year Edition. Both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are just $19.99 today. If you don’t already own this game, you must pick it up! It’s excellent, and will help prepare you for the October 18 release date of Batman: Arkham City.

Amazon’s also got loads of bonus offers up right now, including $25 promotional credit for buying a Nintendo 3DS, Kinect Sensor with Kinect Adventures, and the PlayStation Move Starter Bundle. Whew. That’s a lot of promotional credit!

I love today’s Ript shirt, aptly titled “Give Me A Hand:”

Can you figure out who all of these hands belong to?!?!

Daily Scoop: June 22, 2011 – Happy humpday!

It’s Wednesday at last! The middle of the week is upon us, in all its glory. Can you see Friday there, just over the crest?

The black hole created by yesterday’s Gold Box Event left us with only Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games, which is WB’s Scribblenauts for the Nintendo DS. At $12.99, it’s almost worth buying, but considering this game was so disappointing I didn’t even bother with Super Scribblenauts, I would pass. In fact, I would probably recommend getting the second one instead, even though I don’t have the heart to get it myself. I’m just too sad.

But hey, at least there are some amazing t-shirts today! The most relevant one to your interests, dear reader, is today’s Ript shirt, which is called “Super Subzero Bros” and is one of the greatest things ever created:

Instabuy.

Daily Scoop: June 21, 2011 – Gold Box Event!

Ah, another Amazon Gold Box Event, just for video game nerds! The Deal of the Day is Xbox 360 4GB Kinect Bundle with $100 Promotional Credit – which works out really well for people like me, because the 250 GB Xbox 360 hard drive is on sale for $84.99. If you’ve been waiting to pick up the new Xbox 360 with Kinect, this is a great time to do so!

The rest of the Gold Box Event is as follows:

  • 6 AM PDT: Bring the fitness club to your living room – This one’s ExerBeat for Wii – $14.99!
  • 8 AM PDT: Blend banana-collecting puzzles with manic action gameplay – It’s Super Monkey Ball 3D for $21.99!
  • 10 AM PDT: Now in its tenth year, this franchise returns with number 7 on the PS3 and Xbox 360 – This one is Dynasty Warriors 7 for $39.99!
  • 12 PM PDT: Explore iconic settings including Hogwarts castle, Diagon Alley and the Forbidden Forest – No surprise that this is Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 for Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 for $14.99!
  • 2 PM PDT: Join your host, Mr. Potato Head, as you and your family play classic Hasbro games
  • 4 PM PDT: Listen to your game like it was meant to be heard
  • 6 PM PDT: Latest iteration of a storied fighter franchise
  • 8 PM PDT: Big savings on this classic NDS puzzle game

Huh. Well, I was hoping for Infamous 2 to be on sale, but hey – beggars can’t be choosers, amirite?

Daily Scoop: June 20, 2011 – Comic hangover

Here I am, exhausted with a smile on my face, hungover from how much fun I had at the convention. I got to see Adam Baldwin talk yesterday, and that was amazing! It made me want to go home and watch Jaynestown all over again.

Lots of great deals today! Ryan Littlefield’s obsession with Toys R Us pays off today, as he told me about this amazing sale: get any two of these games for $50. The list is:

  • Brink
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops
  • F.3.A.R.
  • Mortal Kombat
  • L.A. Noire
  • Portal 2

The games are available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This is an AMAZING deal, especially considering F.3.A.R. isn’t even out yet. I mean, what?

Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games is SVG Distribution’s Brunswick Pro Bowling for the Xbox 360. This Kinect-only game is $39.99 down from $49.99, and has “10 highly detailed bowling environments, each with unique lane characteristics” as well as “five game-play options including Exhibition, Skins and Tournament modes.” Word!

As for today’s daily t-shirt, well, I love dinosaurs, in case you couldn’t tell. Funny story: when I play multiplayer games with my microphone on, people can’t tell if I’m a girl or a 10-year-old boy. It doesn’t help that the emblem on my player card in Call of Duty: Black Ops is a t-rex. So yeah, it’s obvious why today’s shirt.w00t is so close to my heart:

The artist should totally make an anime con version of this shirt and call it “Glompasaurus Rex.” :D

Daily Scoop: June 17, 2011 – Yay comics!

Yay! It’s here! In an hour I’ll be at the Wizard World Comic Con, drinking in all the sights I’ve grown to love over the years. If you hear I’ve been arrested, it’s most likely because I’ve finally confessed my undying love to Bruce Campbell… or I caught sight of Brian Herbert and tackled him and chastised him on his horrible writing. Either way, send me letters in jail!

Not much in the way of deals, I’m afraid. Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games is Hori’s HD LCD Monitor 3 for the PlayStation 3. It looks nice and sharp, but even at the sale price of $189.99, it’s still pretty expensive.

No video game shirts today, but I’m a sucker for this origami dinosaur shirt that’s today’s Qwertee:

It’s dino-tastic!

Daily Scoop: June 16, 2011 – Wizard World Comic Con!

Tomorrow begins one of my favorite weekends of the year – Philadelphia’s Wizard World Comic Con! I’ve been attending it for 10 years now, and it’s a blast. This year they’ll have Bruce Campbell, Sean Patrick Flannery, Norman Reedus, and Adam Baldwin, along with a slew of other actors, comic book creators, and people dressed up in crazy costumes. If you’re in the area, come over to the convention center and check out all the fun!

The deals today are slim – Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games is Namco’s Active Life: Explorer With Mat for the Wii. It’s $23.99 down from $29.99 and describes the mat itself as a “specially-designed mat is bundled with the game so you can jump straight into the action.” OOH. FUN.

In other news, Ript‘s “Kent” is absolutely amazing:

Wow. Give me the Batman version of that and I’m all over it.

Late Night With Jimmy Fallon credits go 8-bit

It’s Video Game Week on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” and the geeky television host has given his opening credits a demake that pays homage to the classic “cut scenes” found in 8-bit mainstays like the Mega Man series and Ninja Gaiden.

I admit, I was one of the people who groaned when Fallon was given Conan O’Brien’s chair, but the man has proven himself to be a good host and a great ambassador for gaming. Way to go Jimmy and have fun during the rest of Video Game Week, which has featured some of 2011’s biggest titles, including Gears of War 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
