Daily Scoop: December 2, 2013 – So many deals

So, it’s Cyber Monday, and I seriously feel more inundated with sales today than I did on Black Friday. I mean really – it’s been obscene. I’ve gotten emails from just about every single place I’ve ordered anything from, ever, with the exception of maybe Kickstarter. So if you haven’t spent enough money yet in the last few days, get ready for some serious deals.

As can be expected, there are tons of crazy Lightning Deals happening at Amazon – just filter those bad boys by “Video Games” and you can see the madness, including the Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition for $7.99. Yowza! There’s a sale over at Steam, of course, and my recommendation is that you pick up Beatbuddy right now for $3.74.

Penny Arcade is having a big sale today on their First Party Collection, which is typically pretty expensive but is now just slightly less expensive. The Gearbox Store is offering $10 off hoodies and $5 off t-shirts, meaning that zer0 hoody I want is now cheaper, woo! And ThinkGeek’s absurd sale will probably blow your mind. It even includes free shipping!

If you’re looking for something a little off the radar, you should check out the Game Music Festival bundles, which are great deals on amazing video game music. You could also grab some last-minute t-shirts with Tee Fury and The Yetee‘s Cyber Monday grab bags! Oh, and also, this isn’t a deal, but my friend Shawn Pierre just launched the Kickstarter for his amazing card game, These French Fries Are Terrible Hot Dogs. It’s a game of lying, love, and just a little bit of mustard. You want it – trust me.

And if that’s not enough, well, I’ve still got some t-shirts for you! (more…)

Daily Scoop: November 27, 2013 – Get ready to get thankful

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and everyone’s been posting on social media networks the last few days about what they’re most thankful for. This morning I realized that one of the things I’m most thankful for has to be when I actually get on the bus and there aren’t crazy people on it. Last night and this morning I sat down near crazy people who just sat and said insanely hostile things loud enough for everyone around them to hear them, for the entire bus ride. I’m thankful for every time that doesn’t happen. What are you thankful for, friendly readers? Fantastic Achievements? Brutal gameplay? Games that lack QTEs?

Speaking of thankfulness, there are tons of sales about to drop in the next few days, and I’m not sure what to look at first. I’m interested in picking up the Zelda 3DS XL special edition at Target for $150, but I don’t really need the game or the system. I would love to have an XL, but I don’t, you know, need it. And, as always, there are more deals at Amazon. Is it bad that I’m amused that no one is picking up Remember Me at $19.99?

And now, the t-shirts! (more…)

Daily Scoop: November 26, 2013 – Don’t Starve Chester Plush

I’m not sure if you’ve checked out Kickstarter lately, but one just launched that you might have some interest in. There’s an adorable Chester Plush from the indie game Don’t Starve. It is so, so adorable, and it’s already been completely funded – unsurprisingly! If you loved this game, you should definitely think about funding this project.

Poking around for early Black Friday sales? Well, check out Amazon’s Gold Box deals (filter by Video Games!) and see if there’s anything you like today. I’m hoping against hope that someone will have the Wii U Wind Waker Bundle on sale, but I’m not sure if that will happen! It was Black Friday a few years ago when I got my special edition red Wii, after all… this would be a great tradition!

Let’s talk t-shirts, people! (more…)

Daily Scoop: November 25, 2013 – Get ready for Black Friday

The deals have started coming in hard and fast for Black Friday, and even if you’ve sworn off leaving the house, and don’t want to encourage people to shop on Thanksgiving, it’s impossible to miss the lists and ads for sales that are popping up everywhere. I plan on doing some shopping from my couch this week, but that’s it. I’m not going near any stores!

If you’re looking for some new video game-inspired duds, look no further than the awesome sales happening at Insert Coin Clothing. It’s too bad the shirt I want – Joel’s Flannel – isn’t on that list!

There’s also a great sale happening at Shirt.woot these days – they’ve got all of their catalog available for a limited time! Check out their massive video game section to pick up that shirt you missed. The sale restarts every night at midnight, so if one you want isn’t available now, just try back later!

You might want to also check out this huge list of games on sale at Amazon. You might just find that game you’ve been waiting to go down in price on this list! It is a beautiful thing.

And finally, let’s check out some more t-shirts! (more…)

Daily Scoop: November 21, 2013 – So many games

Guys, I’m not sure if you know this, but it’s an insane time for gaming right now. The PlayStation 4 came out last week; the Xbox One comes out tomorrow. On top of all the launch games, you’ve also got Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I Don’t Know, Super Mario 3D Land, Tearaway, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. My brain is exploding. For realz.

In the deals department, Amazon has started Black Friday early with their digital deals. Some of these deals are ABSURD. You can get all three BioShock games for $14.99, Borderlands GOTY and Borderlands 2 for $11.99, and Max Payne 3 with Season Pass for $6.99, among others. You’ll want to take a look.

In what’s starting to become my favorite thing to check every day, there are some new sales over at the Humble Store! My favorite of today’s sales has to be Half-Minute Hero, which is just $2.50. There’s also a new Humble Weekly Sale, featuring Pinball FX2 and lots of tables for it.

Oh, and, uh, there’s a new Cards Against Humanity expansion. :)

Now, time for some t-shirts: (more…)

This new Need For Speed movie trailer is faster and furiouser

Framed for a crime he didn’t commit, muscle car mechanic and street racer Tobey (Aaron Paul) gets out of prison determined to settle the score with the man responsible for his false conviction.

With how often they happen in movies and on TV, you’d think the FBI was out there breaking up an illegal cross-country road race every few weeks. But for some reason, getting into a highly conspicuous sports car and tearing ass down the highway at 150 MPH just doesn’t happen in real life. Thank god for the movies as the second trailer for Need For Speed is now available for your viewing pleasure.

He’s definitely furiouser than the normally stoic Vin Diesel, I’ll give him that.

Daily Scoop: November 6, 2013 – Books on games

So tonight is the end of our Encounters season, which means it’s time for the big fight! I’m pretty excited to see how all the tables deal with the storm that’s about to hit them. It’s been a great season!

There are a few great video game books that are on sale right now at Amazon. You can pre-order The Legend of Zelda Box Set: Prima Official Game Guide at 40% off, grab the hard cover Pokemon X & Pokemon Y: The Official Kalos Region Guidebook: The Official Pokemon Strategy Guide for 40% off, or snag the Grand Theft Auto V Limited Edition Strategy Guide for 38% off. I also highly recommend Minecraft: The Unlikely Tale of Markus “Notch” Persson and the Game that Changed Everything, which is currently 39% off.

Oh, and don’t forget to snag the Humble WB Bundle! Pay what you want for Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY, F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, F.E.A.R. 3, and Lords of the Rings: War in the North. Pay more than the average to unlock Scribblenauts Unlimited and Batman: Arkham City GOTY. The F.E.A.R. series is one of my favorites, so I can’t recommend getting this bundle enough.

Who wants some t-shirts? (more…)
