Daily Scoop: February 8, 2013 – The snow is coming
According to the weather report, and everyone who likes to engage in small talk, there is a large quantity of snow headed my way. The only reason this is upsetting to me is because it might cancel my Dungeons & Dragons game tomorrow, which would be a sad thing indeed. But if it did, then I could sit at home and play all the video games that have been piling up over the last few weeks, which is a happy thing. And it would also give me lots of time to work on homework, which is sad but also good. I mean… you get me.
There are no deals today, so instead of shopping for games online, you should go look at these awesome Adventure Time costumes that my friend Darin found on the Internet. They’re algebraic!
Just one t-shirt today… (more…)

Hitman set to furiously return to film in rebooted “Agent 47”
When the last Hitman film debuted six years ago, it left such a sour taste in moviegoer’s mouths that the franchise’s fate seemed as sealed as a stone tomb housing a rotting corpse. However, the powers that be at Fox International Productions have decided to give it another try with a rebooted film, Agent 47. Working from a script by Skip Woods, the writer of the original mess, they have opted to cast the blue-eyed Paul Walker as Agent 47, most famous for the Fast and the Furious series.
There is nothing wrong, per se, with Walker’s casting. He is a bankable name, but he is not bald. Timothy Olyphant, the original celluloid star, looked plain wrong with a shaved dome, and it was a massive misstep in his otherwise distinguished career. Why not cast Vin Diesel, Walker’s regular shaven-headed Fast and Furious co-star, someone who is possibly born to play Agent 47? In any case, once Walker is finished with his PR commitments to Fast and Furious 6, he will be shaving his scalp and donning the red tie. Only time will tell if the new film is able to wash away the memories of the original.

Daily Scoop: February 7, 2013 – Adventure Time!
Whew! I feel like my life is a big adventure right now. I mean, I don’t have a dog who can change his shape and size, but I do often sing to my cat that he’s Pup the Cat and I’m Nik the Human. Does that count as being a part of the adventure? I sure hope so.
Anyway! I forgot to mention yesterday that there are some deals going on at GameStop. The Angry Birds Trilogy, Dragon’s Dogma, and Wreck-It Ralph are all $10 off, and Wipeout 3 is $20 off. There are also some deals on Xbox 360 accessories as well, including $15 off the Kinect with Kinect Adventures. Scoop ’em up!
Just one t-shirt today, but it’s a sorely tempting one, mashing up two of my favorite things! (more…)

Daily Scoop: February 6, 2013 – A good day for gaming
Last night was board game night, and for the first time in ages, we played Cards Against Humanity. Despite the fact that I’ve seen most of those cards, I still laughed until my stomach hurt. Then I learned how to play Ticket to Ride and got my butt kicked. It was a great night whether you won or lost (I lost both games!).
There’s nothing new in the way of deals today. Nada. Zip. Which is good for me, since I’m working my way through about four video games right now, each of which is very demanding on my attention. That’s not a complaint, because frankly, this is a really good day for gaming, and I can’t wait to get home and grab my pink DualShock and hop on the couch. But, you know. Not having game deals makes it easier for me to stop adding to my precarious pile of backlogged games.
What I do have for you are some pretty great t-shirts! (more…)

J.J. Abrams and Gabe Newell tease possible game/movie collaboration

Star Wars Episode VII director J.J. Abrams and Valve CEO Gabe Newell spent the morning addressing the crowd at the 2013 D.I.C.E. Summit. Their talk, “Storytelling Across Platforms,” kicked off the conference and was heavily promoted before the four-day gathering of developers began.
Apparently, there was a good reason for that.
Abrams and Newell’s panel concluded a few minutes ago and they dropped a massive bombshell before they left. Are you ready? Abrams announced that he wants to partner with Valve on a video game and Newell announced that he wants work with Abrams (and his Bad Robot production company) on movies based on Half-Life and Portal:
Abrams: There’s an idea we [at Bad Robot] have for a game that we’d like to work with Valve on.
Newell: We’re going to find out if there’s a way we can work with you on a Portal and Half-Life movie.
Oh. My. God.

Daily Scoop: February 4, 2013 – Post-Super Bowl blues
Boo, it sure is sad now that the Super Bowl is over. All that sports just finished until the sports start again. What am I going to do without the commercials, the pigskin, the ladies dancing?
Ha! I really had you going there, didn’t I? I don’t know anything about sports these days, really. I used to watch hockey, and then I had a brief affair with baseball, but for the most part – despite the fact that my uncle is a coach for an NFL team – I avoid sports altogether. Maybe I should get into it for the spirit of things with my family, but… boooorrrrriinnngggggggg.
Not too many deals going on today, but there are some decent pre-order bonuses going on. Amazon hasn’t really been advertising their promotional credit so much anymore, but there are a few happening right now – Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel, Crysis 3, Dead Space 3, and SimCity – Limited Edition will all net you $20 in promotional credit with a pre-order. You can also get $10 for pre-ordering God of War: Ascension. I got my Dead Space 3 order in just in time. Isaac is my co-pilot! Or something.
I’ve got a few shirts for you today… (more…)
