Daily Scoop: July 20, 2012 – Not-so-daily edition
My Daily Scoop should really just be called the Sporadic Scoop at this point. I’ve been so busy that I can’t even keep the days straight. But whatever, I’m here now! Sadly, there are no deals going on at all. None whatsoever. I can’t think of a single…
Oh, right! The Steam sale! I almost forgot about it. Except every single person on my Facebook friends list, and instant messenger list, and in real life, cannot shut the hell up about it. So it’s impossible for me to have forgotten. Throw all of your money at Valve right now – I’m not even going to bother listing the stuff on sale. Just go there, give them your bank account number, and play games until your eyes bleed.
Three shirts today, including a board game reference! (more…)

Daily Scoop: July 17, 2012 – No time for games
Do you know what’s sad? Homework. I mean, the homework itself isn’t sad. It’s the having homework part of it that is sad. I have no time for the essentials, like playing video games. Laundry is a distant memory. I hardly remember to shower or sleep anymore. I eat when I can, and that’s almost only when my boyfriend asks me, “hey, when was the last time you ate?”
It’s a sad world indeed.
But, the good news is, I’ve got some deals for you! First up: Amazon’s sale on handheld games, accessories, and systems, called Handheld Deals for your Summer Road Trip. There are 11 pages of deals to sort through, so knock yourself out!
Amazon’s also got a bunch of new deals up this week, as always:
- Save $10 on the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360
- Get Darkness II for $19.99 for PS3 and Xbox 360
- Save $20 on the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Pro Gamepad Controller for PS3 and Xbox 360
- Get Professor Layton and the Last Specter for $17.95
- Get Atari’s Greatest Hits Vol 1 for $10.99
I’ve also got three great shirts and a cute Etsy surprise for you as well: (more…)

First trailer for Mass Effect anime makes its debut at Comic-Con
For those feeling withdrawal symptoms from piloting the Normandy throughout the galaxy, fear not! The first trailer for Mass Effect: Paragon Lost, the anime prequel produced by BioWare and Production I.G., debuted at the San Deigo Comic-Con over the weekend.
Production I.G., perhaps best known for the animation portion of Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill: Volume One (depicting the turbulent childhood of Lucy Liu’s O-Ren Ishii), brings their highly energised and sweeping visuals to a script written by Henry Gilroy, who previously wrote a number of episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Paragon Lost focuses on the early career of Alliance soldier James Vega (Freddie Prinze Jr.) as he protects a remote civilian outpost from an attack by the mysterious alien race known as The Collectors.
The Blu-ray/DVD combo will be available to buy on November 13, 2012.

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn premieres October 5; full-length trailer released
As promised, 343 Industries and Machinima Prime have unveiled the full-length trailer for Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn at Comic-Con. The almost four-minute video has also revealed an October 5 premiere date for the episodic series. Five episodes will be produced, with a new episode appearing every week, culminating with the November 6 launch of Halo 4.
Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn tells an exciting story of heroism and sacrifice on a scale never before seen in the Halo universe, taking fans back to the beginning of the human and Covenant war and leading into the events of Halo 4. Set against the backdrop of a United Nations Space Command (UNSC) military academy, a group of highborn cadets are training to be the next generation of soldiers in the UNSC’s ongoing war with insurrectionists in the outer colonial planets. Among these cadets, Thomas Lasky struggles with his doubts about this war, and with the burden of expectations he may not be able to carry. As Lasky comes to terms with his potential as a military leader, the terrifying alien alliance known as the Covenant arrives and turns his world upside down. Inspired by the Master Chief, he must decide what it means to be a hero. Halo fans who experience Lasky’s thrilling origin story in Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn will be rewarded with special insights into the story of Halo 4 and the Halo Infinity multiplayer experience.
If you’d prefer to watch Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn in one big chunk, a 90-minute extended version will be included in the Halo 4 Limited Edition, which will also be available on November 6.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy returning for a second season
Writer/Director Kevin Tancharoen has revealed that a second season of Mortal Kombat: Legacy is in the works courtesy of the (slightly dorky) video above. OK, “slightly dorky” might be an understatement, but I have to admit, I loved it.
According to Tancharoen, the scripts have been completed and season two will be “all about the tournament.” There will also be “more fighting, more action, and more visual effects.”
There’s no word on how many episodes will be produced or when they’ll debut, but Tancharoen did provide a complete list of kombatants that’ll be making an appearance in season two: Kano, Liu Kang, Raiden, Johnny Cage, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Jax, Baraka, Stryker, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Ermac, and Kenshi. Flawless scripting!
It’s currently unknown if some of season one’s more high-profile participants, including Michael Jai White as Jax, Jeri Ryan as Sonya, and Tahmoh Penikett as Stryker, will return in season two.

Michael Fassbender will play Desmond in the Assassin’s Creed movie
Michael Fassbender has made quite a name for himself with science fiction fans over the past year, taking over the role of Magneto in X-Men: First Class and as the synthetic David in Prometheus. Today, the British actor paired up with Ubisoft Motion Pictures for his next sci-fi role, as Desmond in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie.
Fassbender will actually be performing triple duty on the film. In addition to his role as Desmond, he’ll also play one of Desmond’s ancestors as well as producing the movie through his production company, DMC Film. It’s currently unknown if the film will follow Altair, Ezio, Connor, or an entirely new character in the Assassin’s fight against the Templars.
“Michael Fassbender was our first choice to play the franchise’s iconic hooded hero. Michael is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor,” said Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Paris-based Ubisoft Motion Pictures.
It might be a while before we see the Assassin’s Creed movie as Ubisoft Motion Pictures has yet to select a writer or director for the project.
