Get your first look at the Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn teaser trailer

Microsoft’s “Halo studio,” 343 Industries, is hard at work on this Fall’s Halo 4, which is the start of a brand new trilogy starring the Master Chief. But they’re also hard at work on the live-action episodic series Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, which will also make its debut this Fall.

Over the weekend, Machinima unveiled the first Forward Unto Dawn teaser trailer, which you can view above.

It’s not quite a Halo movie, but I am definitely excited to learn more about Forward Unto Dawn at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which begins on July 12.

Daily Scoop: June 25, 2012 – Just another manic Monday

I keep defeating Mondays, but they just keep appearing. Is there a machine spawning them? Can I kill it? Please? I want to kill it dead. Maybe I could find the machine that spawns Saturdays and hack it…

Amazon’s got a bunch of all-new weekly deals, at least! Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge for the Xbox 360 is on sale for $29.48, and Men In Black: Alien Crisis is $39.99 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and $39.96 for the Wii. Also on sale is iCarly: Groovy Foodie! for the Nintendo DS (you know you want it) and the Dragon Age Pack download is just $9.99. Yowza. Scoop ’em up!

EA and DreamWorks working on Need For Speed movie

If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “Man, I sure wish Need For Speed was a movie,” guess what? Your dreams about to come true! That’s right, DreamWorks announced today that they’re making a movie based on EA’s racing game franchise.

The screenplay, which is based on the series but not on any specific installment, was written by George Gatins. He and his brother, John, first developed the story together. John, Mark Sourian, and EA will produce the film, with Act of Valor‘s Scott Waugh’s name also attached. The movie is scheduled to start filming next year with a release date the following year.

DreamWorks Chairman, Steven Spielberg, said, “I’m excited about getting back into the creative trenches with John and George Gatins and my partners at EA to bring to life an exhilarating script based on an epic video game that seems to have been made for the movies.” Patrick Soderlund, Executive Vice President of the EA Games Label, said, “It’s fantastic to be working with a team that shares not only our love of cars, but also our passion for creating blockbuster action experiences. This collaboration will be greatly enhanced with the team at DreamWorks – which is a great home for the Need for Speed franchise.”

Please tell me Jason Statham is going to be in this movie. Please.

Daily Scoop: June 22, 2012 – Feeling hot, hot, hot

Wow, it’s really been scorching here! It’s supposed to get cooler today, but only because we’re also supposed to get a metric buttload of rain. You heard me right: a metric buttload. That’s a lot.

Really, no deals at all today. I did troll around Amazon’s under $10 deals, and discovered a few gems, like Resident Evil 4 for Wii, Assassins Creed I and II for PC, Fable: The Lost Chapters for Xbox, Need for Speed Most Wanted for PSP, and lots of stuff for Skylanders Spyro’s Adventures. Check ’em out!

Daily Scoop: June 20, 2012 – Summer solstice

Well, summer has definitely arrived! It’s set to be a blazing hot Wednesday here in Philadelphia. But hey, at least it’s Wednesday! The week is nearly halfway over.

Not very many deals today, other than the Warner Bros. Summer Vacation sale going on at Amazon. Get up to 25% off of Lego Battles Ninjago, the Scribblenauts games, and Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, among others.

Three shirts today, one of which is an unsurprising purchase for me: (more…)

Daily Scoop – June 19, 2012 – Cranky edition

It’s a beautiful Tuesday, which should mean I’m in a mood to match, but I’m super cranky for some reason. My stomach’s been acting up again, so no coffee for me, and no coffee means tired Nicole, and tired Nicole usually means cranky Nicole. Sigh. I just want to play my DS all day…

What’s up in the deal world today? Not too much, sadly. Amazon is offering $10 off Xbox Live 3 Month Gold Memberships, bringing them down to $14.99 from $24.99. Also, if you buy a Kinect sensor with Kinect Adventures, you’ll receive Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor for free. Not bad, not bad.

Not much else going on, really – other than all the neat stuff you can get for pre-ordering games right now. If you pre-order Amazing Spider-Man, you get the Stan Lee Adventure Pack, which lets you look for missing pages from Lee’s latest script. Oh, and he voices it, too. Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy comes with a gripped stylus and stickers to put on it. Talk about adorable!

Another day with just one t-shirt… (more…)

TriForce to debut limited edition Catwoman Replica Trophy at Comic-Con

Not content with creating a full scale replica of Batman: Arkham City’s Batarang and a standard Riddler Trophy, the geniuses at Project TriForce have created a limited edition Catwoman Trophy exclusively for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

The Pink Catwoman Riddler Trophy Full Scale Replica is hand-finished and hand-painted to precision quality. Intricately crafted and cast in polystone, it measures 19″ in height, weighs in at 8 pounds, and features working LED effects!

While not ready just yet (if the big question mark didn’t give it away), the company will be taking pre-orders at the event with delivery sometime in late 2012. Although quite pricey at $400, it will be a limited edition piece, with only 100 being made. Those unable to attend Comic Con may still have a chance to pre-order one via TriForce’s online newsletter.

So pre-order it before she steals them all!

Rebooted Mortal Kombat movie to star a supermarket ninja

Director Kevin Tancharoen is still hard at work on his rebooted Mortal Kombat movie. And an exclusive report on Bloody Disgusting may have revealed the film’s rather unlikely new plot direction.

According to the report, the Mortal Kombat: Rebirth and Mortal Kombat: Legacy creator will ground his new movie in reality by following “[an] unlucky supermarket employee who discovers that he has out of this world powers and must decide between good and evil.” But don’t expect this character to be a hero as “the evil side has helped him discover his true potential and who he really is.”

For the life of me, I can’t make myself fit any of the existing Mortal Kombat characters into that narrative. Not Liu Kang, not Scorpion, not Sonya, not Johnny Cage… not even Stryker. However, I was instantly reminded of Ash’s final film appearance in Army of Darkness.
