Dungeon Siege III expansion coming this October

Prepare yourself to break free of the borders of Ehb this October when Square Enix and Obsidian release the first expansion for Dungeon Siege III, Treasures of the Sun. The downloadable pack will whisk players to the Aranoi Desert, where they will meet “hordes of new villains only to find a forgotten abbey hiding a long-lost secret: the greatest treasure of the Azunite faith.”

The expansion will also add a variety of tweaks and enhancements including:

  • New abilities: Players will be able to attain mastery of the arcane through powerful new attack, defense and healing abilities.
  • Level up to 35: Dungeon Siege III: Treasures of the Sun will further power up players by raising the game’s existing level cap from 30 to 35.
  • More monsters and items: Players will encounter new monsters in the Aranoi Desert—including mummies and giant skeletons—and will find more powerful items, adding to the thousands already available in Dungeon Siege III.
  • Reallocate Talent & Proficiency Points: Players can reallocate points spent in Proficiencies and Talents, enabling changes to character customization throughout the campaign.
  • New Enchanting System: Transmuting items now gives players chances at gaining powerful new Vials that allow them to enhance their weapons and armor through the DLC’s new enchanting system.

Dungeon Siege III: Treasures of the Sun will be priced at $9.99 and be available to download from Steam (PC), Xbox Live (Xbox 360) and the PlayStation Network (PS3) this October.

The dinos get bitey in new Jurassic Park trailer

The dinosaurs featured in the latest Jurassic Park trailer are hungry. Like, really hungry. Thankfully, nobody pulled a Gennaro and stopped to take a leak.

Are you prepared to run for your life from a raptor or stand still as a T. Rex breathes down your neck? We’ll all get to find out together when Telltale releases Jurassic Park for the Mac, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 15.

Daily Scoop: August 29, 2011 – Bye, PAX

Ah, PAX – we hardly knew ye. There was a plethora of news (and the Penny Arcade game is getting a third episode, for real!). I watched from afar (when the hurricane wasn’t knocking out all my power) and missed you. Hopefully some friends grabbed me some swag!

Anyway, onto the deals! Today’s Deal of the Day in video games over at Amazon is Konami’s Karaoke Revolution Glee Bundle for the Wii. It’s $30.99 down from $49.99, and has 35 songs from season one of the hit show. Scoop it up!

Amazon’s also got new weekly deals up – and there are a lot of them!

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will answer a lot of questions, but not all

Speaking to Destructoid at this weekend’s PAX Prime, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations Creative Director Alex Amancio revealed that the game will do a better job of answering fan’s questions than Brotherhood did.

“People are going to go ‘Oh, okay, I get it!’ or ‘I never thought they were going to show me that!,’ and it really sets you up for what’s the come.”

“We actually found [an article online], I forget where it is on the web, somebody did a ‘Top 10 Things Fans Want to Know About Assassin’s Creed.’ And in that top 10 list, we actually answer seven.”

Amancio also said, “We want to avoid what I like to call the X-Files effect, where you risk crumbling under the weight of your own mythology.” So the team at Ubisoft Montreal is well aware that fans actually want some revelations to come out of a game actually subtitled Revelations.

Let’s hope so. This “Assassin’s Creed III announced!… no wait… it’s just another game starring Ezio” thing is getting old. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will be available for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 15.

Mass Effect 3 fans select redhead “FemShep” as official character model

The voting is over and BioWare has unveiled the official female Shepard character model. You can see the franchise’s first official “FemShep” to your left. More concept art featuring the redheaded Shepard can be found after the break.

Mass Effect 3 will be released for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 6, 2012. EA and BioWare have promised that the female Shepard will make an appearance on the cover of the game’s Collector’s Edition as well as in a special FemShep-centric trailer. (more…)

Deus Ex: Human Revolution brings up some interesting ideas about the future of the human body. It has limitations. You can’t jump 15 straight up into the air. You can’t crush steel with your fist. But what if you could upgrade your body like the PC you are using to play Deus Ex?

Rob Spence is a cyborg (more specifically an eyeborg, he lost an eye and replaced it with a camera). Join him on a journey through the science behind prosthetic and cyborg technology in Deus Ex: Human Revolution and in real life. From eyes, to arms and legs, Spence showcases some of the most advanced technology in prosthetics.

All we can do is wait and see. Your body might be the next thing to become obsolete.

The Summer of No Games is finally over!

This week, that annual Summer ritual, the release of a new Madden game, continues with Madden NFL 12 (PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360). Also available this week is the first expansion to The Sims Medieval, The Sims Medieval: Pirates & Nobles, and Bodycount, a wild first person shooter from the creator of Black.

And there’s also a ton of family-friendly DS games.
