Rage enters anger management until October 4

Gamers will have to wait a few extra weeks to lash out at post-apocalyptic mutants in Rage, id Software’s PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 shooter. According to the game’s website, Rage will now be released in stores on October 4, almost a month after its original September 13 release date.

No reason was given for the delay, but John Carmack and company probably realized they couldn’t finish by the September ship date, which was announced more than a year ahead of time.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 is beyond current generation’s grasp

There’s been plenty of E3-related news over the last few days, but how about a bit of E3 “non-news.” Rayman creator Michel Ancel revealed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 will not be released for this generation of consoles. However, the acclaimed developer confirmed that the game is still in development and is in no danger of being canceled:

“It is still alive and we are very far [into] development so we can’t go back now,” Ancel said. “We are targeting the next generation of consoles.”

The franchise has never really been forgotten as fans have been clamoring for more on the sequel since it was announced back in 2008. A high definition remake of the first Beyond Good & Evil was released on the Xbox Live Arcade in March. It will be added to the PlayStation Network any day now.

Far Cry 3 returns to the jungle in 2012

Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry 3 is in development for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 for a 2012 release. Once again developed by Ubisoft Montreal, gamers that were saddened by Far Cry 2‘s desert landscapes will be pleased to know that Far Cry 3 is going back to the jungle:

With Far Cry 3, players step into the shoes of Jason Brody, a man alone at the edge of the world, stranded on a mysterious tropical island. In this savage paradise, where lawlessness and violence are the only sure thing, players dictate how the story unfolds, from the battles they choose to fight to the allies or enemies they make along the way. As Jason Brody, players will slash, sneak and shoot their way across the island in a world that has lost all sense of morality.

“Far Cry 3 brings something new and unexpected, while still building upon the foundations of excellence that are inherent to the Far Cry brand,” said Dan Hay, producer at Ubisoft Montreal. “Whether you’re already a fan of the Far Cry series or jumping into the franchise for the very first time, you’re going to be blown away by the gritty story and epic adventure we’re going to deliver.”

Brothers In Arms: Furious 4 is full of basterds

There’s a thin line between “delightful homage” and “copyright infringement” and Gearbox’s next game, Brothers In Arms: Furious 4, dances right along it. Furious 4 brings the Duke Nukem Forever developer back to World War II with a squadron of soldiers who use some rather… unorthodox… methods when fighting Nazis behind enemy lines.

The game will offer a four-player co-op allowing you and all your friends to play as Stitch, a crazed guy who employs a tazer; Crockett, a Texan who carries a six-shooter and a cattle brand; Chok, a Native-American who throws a mean hatchet; and Montana, the big bruiser with the minigun (every game’s gotta have one). Their mission is to track down Hitler himself while battling a “secret” army full of Nazi “experiments.”

So yeah, it’s basically Inglourious Basterds: The Game.

Ubisoft will release Brothers In Arms: Furious 4 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012.

We’ll also be able to taste the game’s sweet multiplayer soon, as an open beta will begin soon and continue on until September.

Battlefield 3 will be released for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 25.

EA @ E3 11: Need For Speed: The Run takes you out of the car

That’s right. For the first time in the series, Need For Speed: The Run will have sequences when players actually exit the vehicle. These segments complement the characteristic chase sequences of the series well, as they look mostly like action-packed cutscenes where quick time events determine whether or not you get away safely (and into another car). At EA’s press conference, a live demonstration showed the player getting out during a crash, running through stairwells and across buildings before commandeering a police vehicle. Later on the player had to kick his way out of the car’s window in order to escape an oncoming train.

In order to bring the action to life, The Run will also be utilizing DICE’s Frostbite 2.0 engine, the powerhouse currently running Battlefield 3‘s impressive visuals. Expect more info on DICE’s latest military shooter as EA’s press conference continues.
