Capcom celebrates 15 years of Resident Evil with five games
Capcom is resurrecting a ton of games for the 15th anniversary of the Resident Evil series. Not only that, but the publisher is injecting some new blood into the series with a pair of original games. And they want to get that blood pumping with the new trailer above that showcases all of these titles.
First up there’s Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, a multiplayer 3DS game based on the “Mercenaries” mode found in previous games in the series. And speaking of previous games in the series, the trailer also includes another look at the PSN/XBLA HD versions of Resident Evil: Code Veronica X and Resident Evil 4.
Capcom plans to bring out the new stuff later in the year including the return of Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine in Resident Evil: Revelations (also for the 3DS). And capping the celebration is a return to the RE2/RE3 era in the brand new Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (which is coming to the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360).
That is a lot of Resident Evil and this is a pretty neat trailer.
Bought Dragon Age II? Get Mass Effect 2 for PC free
It’s been out just about a month now, but Dragon Age II has apparently been a rousing success, because BioWare and EA are celebrating in a pretty big way. Between now and April 30, purchasers of Dragon Age II on any of the three platforms it released for can get a free PC download of one of 2010’s (and perhaps 2011 if you’re playing it on PS3 for the first time) best games, Mass Effect 2. There’s only one real downer to the party, however; the free download doesn’t include the Cerberus Network, which cuts off the free DLC that comes with purchased copies.
Getting it is a simple task – just visit BioWare’s Dragon Age portal, and follow the instructions. All you have to really do is make sure you’ve redeemed your Black Emporium “online pass” and you’ll be ready to adventure with Commander Shepard and company… for the great cost of zero dollars.

New Releases: Karaoke Revolution Glee 2, Carnival Games Kinect, Super Meat Boy, More

If March was a mad month for new game releases, then you can be forgiven if you didn’t realize April was dead on arrival as big releases are few and far between in the fourth month of the year.
Let’s see…
- There’s Karaoke Revolution Glee: Volume 2 on the Wii.
- 2K Games brings Carnival Games to the Kinect with Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do on the Xbox 360.
- And the Super Meat Boy: Ultra Edition (PC) is the first boxed edition of the insane platformer.
The full list of the rest of this week’s new releases can be found after the break. (more…)
The Agency canceled; SOE reconfirms EverQuest 3, PlanetSide 2
Sony Online Entertainment has announced has they’ve laid off over 200 employees at studios in Denver, Tuscon and Seattle. Due to these cutbacks, the publisher has also confirmed the cancellation of The Agency, the long-in-development espionage MMO that was planned for the PC and PS3.
In a public statement, SOE said these layoffs would not effect current games like the recently released DC Universe Online. They also reiterated that EverQuest 3 and PlanetSide 2 are still in development.

Duke Nukem flings feces in latest DNF trailer
We interrupt your April Fool’s Day shenanigans to bring you the latest gameplay trailers from Duke Nukem Forever.
In the first (which you can view above), Duke drops a deuce and then decides to indulge his primate instincts by flinging that feces all around the level. Face it, this is more outrageous than most of today’s gags and it’s 100% real.
The second trailer features less feces, but much MUCH more awesome. After the break, watch Duke Nukem punch an alien’s head clean off and use his jetpack to ride the bloody torso to a beautiful three-point landing inside a building.
I bet you don’t care about the delay anymore. Duke Nukem Forever will be released on June 14 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. (more…)

The Next Level: The Games of April 2011

April is upon us! The Warp Zoned staff barely made it out of March alive – between PAX East and the release of the 3DS, we’ve had a lot on our collective plates. We’re all looking forward to April, which will give us a chance to catch up on what March unceremoniously dumped on our laps, as well as give our wallets a little break. There are a few huge releases coming out this month, though, and we’re trying not to freak out too much over them. So here’s what we want to play next month. (more…)

Mafia II takes the cannoli and leaves a Director’s Cut

2K Games has announced that Mafia II has become a “made man” and is now available as a “Director’s Cut” on the PS3 (as part of the “Greatest Hits” line) and Xbox 360 (as part of the “Platinum Hits” line). The re-release, which will retail for a wallet friendly $29.99, should be available in select stores now and will be more widely available in April. As a bonus, the Mafia II “Director’s Cut” now includes all of the game’s previously released downloadable content.
With the “Director’s Cut” version, Xbox 360 players will be able to play the “Betrayal of Jimmy” expansion for the first time. It’ll be joined by the further downloadable adventures “Jimmy’s Vendetta” and “Joe’s Adventure.” A quartet of style packs will round out the bonus content in the re-release.
The Mafia II “Director’s Cut” will also be available for the PC “in the coming months.”
