Ubisoft @ E3 14: Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Far Cry 4, The Division, The Crew, more

ubisoftlogo

Ubisoft has announced their E3 2014 plans and it includes a lot of games we already knew about including Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Far Cry 4, Tom Clancy’s The Division, The Crew, and Valiant Hearts: The Great War. The megapublisher plans to announce a few additional titles during E3 Media Briefing, which will be held on Monday, June 9 at 6:00 PM (Eastern Time). Once again, Ubisoft’s presentation will be hosted by actress (and professional awesome person) Aisha Tyler and will be broadcast live on their YouTube Channel.

So what else will Ubisoft be announcing at this year’s E3 Expo? I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Blood Dragon 2 or the oft-rumored Assassin’s Creed: Comet, and you know a Watch Dogs sequel is in development somewhere within Ubisoft’s many development houses, but that probably won’t be an E3 2014 announcement.

You can find more information on Ubisoft’s E3 lineup after the break. (more…)

Minecraft coming to PS4, Vita, Xbox One in August; upgrade from current-gen for only $5

minecraft-header

Microsoft has announced that the Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will be available in August with a special offer for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition owners. If you currently own either version of the Xbox 360 Edition (the downloadable XBLA version or the retail disc), you’ll be able to upgrade to the Xbox One Edition for the low, low price of $4.99. If you don’t already own the Xbox 360 Edition, it’ll cost $19.99 to purchase the Minecraft: Xbox One Edition.

According to a post on Xbox Wire, players who upgrade will be able to transfer their worlds into the Xbox One Edition as well as “most (but not all) of [their] downloadable skins and texture packs.”

Sony has yet to announce a release date for Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition, but I have a creeping suspicion that it’ll launch sometime this Summer too.

UPDATE: That was fast. Mojang has confirmed that Minecraft will also be available for the PS4 and Vita in August. PS4 owners will be able to take advantage of the same $4.99 upgrade while the PS3 and Vita editions will be bundled together as part of the Cross-Buy program. So if you already own the PS3 version, you’ll be able to download Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition for free.

Minecraft for everybody (except Wii U owners)!

Here’s a gameplay trailer for the PS4 version of Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition

Hey, wanna take a look at the PS4 version of Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition? Specifically content from the Reaper of Souls expansion? If you said, “It probably looks like every other gameplay video of Diablo III we’ve seen over the last three years,” you would be correct. Still, there are worse ways to spend a minute and 41 seconds, as actiony Diablo III trailers are usually pretty fun.

Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition will be released for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on August 19.

SingStar coming to PS4 soon; “Smartphone Microphone” app also in the works

singstar-logoSony has announced (via the PlayStation Blog) that SingStar will soon be available for the PS4. The next-generation entry in the popular karaoke series will include full support for PS3 microphones, an improved scoring system, online multiplayer, and Facebook and Twitter integration so players can share all those high notes. SingStar for the PS4 will launch with its own online store, but if you already own a song in the PS3 version of the game, you can download it from the PS4 store for free.

And if you don’t want another peripheral hanging around your house, Sony is working on a SingStar companion app that will allow players to use their iOS or Android device as a microphone.

SingStar for the PS4 will be available later this year. More details will be revealed “over the coming months” and a debut trailer can be found after the break. (more…)

Insomniac pledged $7,500 to Amplitude campaign and they want you to do the same

Back in the PlayStation 2 era, Harmonix made Frequency and Amplitude, arguably some of the best rhythm games of their time. Harmonix decided to launch a Kickstarter to remake Amplitude in HD, but with just a few days left, they’re still woefully short. And that’s where Insomniac Games has stepped in to try to save the day.

Insomniac wrote fondly about Harmonix, saying “For a long time, Guitar Hero and Rock Band competitions were a weekly, if not daily, occurrence around the office,” and referring to FreQuency and Amplitude as “two of our favorite music games, and two of the best PlayStation 2 games of all-time.”

With all that fondness, Insomniac pledged $7,500, the “your song in our game” level, to the Amplitude Kickstarter, and they are urging everyone to join in and help make this remake a reality. With their pledge, they’ve chosen their song, Crazy Ride, to be added to the game.

How about you? Did you pledge already? While I’m sure there are few of us who can pledge at $7,500, there are still lots of great levels to pledge at, and plenty of cool rewards to get. Check it out!

PS Store Today: Transistor, Wolfenstein: New Order, Drakengard 3, more

transistor-header

This is the week your PlayStation 4 has been waiting for. OK, maybe it’s just the week that my (hypothetical) PlayStation 4 has been waiting for. Either way, there are two very cool PS4 games available for purchase through the PlayStation Store as of today.

Supergiant’s Transistor is a sci-fi action RPG and the followup to their blockbuster breakthrough, Bastion. If you’d rather blast mecha-enhanced Nazis in the face with a bazooka, you may want to check out Wolfenstein: The New Order. The latest entry in the venerable FPS franchise is the debut project from MachineGames. And from the looks of it, they’re going to be around for a long time.

But if you’re a PS3 owner, don’t worry, there’s plenty more for you this week, including your own version of Wolfenstein: The New Order. However, fans of quirky Japanese RPGs will be most satisfied with this week’s PS3 slate as NIS America released Mugen Souls Z, Square Enix released Drakengard 3, and Atlus re-released Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga.

More information about all of these games and more (including a quintet of import PS1 Classics) can be found after the break. And a complete rundown of this week’s new game add-ons can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)

Continue Countdown #4 – Xbox One Ditches Kinect, Halo 5, Sunset Overdrive, More

Nicole Kline dominated everyone in this episode of “Continue Countdown.” You’ll hear plenty of her big opinions as she, and the rest of the Warp Zoned staff, sat down to discuss Microsoft’s decision to unbundle the Kinect sensor from the Xbox One, Sunset Overdrive‘s less-than-impressive initial trailer, and Halo 5‘s delay.

From there we moved on to the possibility that Wolfenstein: The New Order could spark a resurgence in Doom-style first person shooters (consensus: maybe), what Naughty Dog is working on next (consensus: probably something brand new), and whether or not Dragon Quest X will appeal to an overseas audience (consensus: probably not). The home stretch of this week’s episode asked what we’d like to see from Darksiders III and Rockstar’s next-generation project.

Finally, the episode concluded with the echoing cries of “Why?” as the “Continue Countdown” crew talked about 3D Realms’ Bombshell.

New Releases: Wolfenstein: The New Order, Drakengard 3, Mugen Souls Z, More

newreleases052014

In Wolfenstein: The New Order, the Germans managed to win World War II through a combination of mechs and mutants. Now it’s up to William “B.J.” Blazkowicz to turn the tide and make this alternate 1960 a very Nazi-unfriendly place. Wolfenstein: The New Order was developed by MachineGames and will be available for almost every current platform including the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

PS3-owning RPG fans will find a pair of interesting new games on store shelves next week as well. Square Enix will bring Drakengard 3 to Sony’s system while NIS America will release Mugen Souls Z.

Finally, a few re-releases round out next week’s batch of new games. First up, Grasshopper’s Killer Is Dead will make its way to the PC as Killer Is Dead: Nightmare Edition. Also next week, Nordic Games will re-release a few of the games they picked up from the THQ auction including the Darksiders Collection on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360; the Red Faction Collection for the PS3; and Red Faction Complete for the PC.

A complete list of next week’s new releases can be found after the break. (more…)
