Sony releases “Two Silhouettes,” a new trailer for Rain

Rain, a title in development at Sony Japan Studio and Acquire, might trigger a few memories of Ico thanks to its newest trailer, “Two Silhouettes.” A pair of invisible children are only seen when it rains and they must work together to escape the towering city they’re stuck in. If that wasn’t enough, there’s also this:

As the boy chases after the girl, he enters the mysterious world of rain and learns that he has also become invisible. In the pouring rain, he is lost and frightened as he is hunted by ghostly creatures. But, his determination to save the girl only grows stronger and he presses on.

Rain will be released for the PS3 this Fall, but first it’ll make an appearance at this year’s E3 Expo.

Ubisoft plans to announce multiple next-gen games at E3 2013

ubisoftlogo

Ubisoft’s Fall 2013 lineup will be well represented at this year’s E3 Expo as the publisher plans to display five titles at the gaming showcase, as well as multiple unannounced next-generation games:

  • Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
  • Rayman Legends
  • South Park: The Stick of Truth
  • Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist
  • Watch Dogs

Ubisoft’s E3 Press Conference will take place on Monday, June 10 at 6:00 PM (Eastern Time). The company will post a livestream of the presentation on YouTube for everyone who can’t attend the E3 Expo. Updates from the show floor will also be posted on Ubisoft’s Facebook page, Twitter feed, and official blog during E3 week.

“This is a pivotal moment for the video game industry, and E3 is the opportunity for us to share our vision for the future,” said Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft’s CEO. “We have many incredible games in development, and we’re especially excited to share more on our next-gen titles, which will deliver more connected, immersive and interactive experiences to our fans.”

So, any guesses on what Ubisoft’s unannounced next-gen games will be?

Tecmo Koei at E3 2013: Dynasty Warriors 8, Dead or Alive 5, Ninja Gaiden Z, more

tecmokoei-logoTecmo Koei is bringing a quintet of games to this year’s E3 Expo and their lineup should look quite familiar to anyone who knows the company well.

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, the next game in the Ninja Gaiden series (and the first not to star Ryu Hayabusa), leads off their lineup. A newly announced “early 2014” release date accompanies its E3 appearance.

New entries in two other long-running franchises, Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate and Dynasty Warriors 8, will also be included at Tecmo Koei’s E3 booth.

Finally, two Vita games: Atelier Meruru Plus: The Apprentice of Arland, an RPG re-release, and Toukiden, a new game from the Dynasty Warriors development team, will also be on hand.

More details about all of these titles, straight from Tecmo Koei, can be found after the break. (more…)

TT Games adds Venom, Human Torch to Lego Marvel Super Heroes

venom-legoWhen WB Games first announced Lego Marvel Super Heroes, they confirmed that the game would include over 100 playable characters. So far, that list includes big names like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Wolverine, Captain America, The Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, and Deadpool. But two more were added to the game’s roster this weekend at the London MCM Expo.

According to a tweet from TT Games’ Joe Moore, Venom and the Human Torch will both be playable in Lego Marvel Super Heroes. With (at least) 88 more names to come, we can probably expect more of these announcements between now and the game’s release this fall on the 3DS, DS, PC, PS3, Vita, Wii U, and Xbox 360.

I’m holding out hope for Lego Blade myself.

Insomniac Games will release Fuse, their first multiplatform game ever, this week. The game, which was previously known as “Overstrike,” is coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360. Also available this week is Grid 2, the next big racing game from Codemasters. Like the first game in the series, Grid 2 will be available for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

This week’s remaining releases are all for the PC and fall into one of two camps: strategy games and adventure games. On the strategy side is Wargame: Airland Battle and Crusader Kings II: The Old Gods, a Crusader Kings II expansion.

Over on the adventure side, there’s Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded, 99 Spirits, and The Night of the Rabbit.

Techland does zombies again with Dying Light for PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, Xbox 360

dyinglight-header

Techland, the development team behind Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide, will do battle with the undead hordes once again in their next project: Dying Light. The first-person game is set to be published by WB Games on the PC, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, and Xbox One sometime in 2014.

During the day, players will traverse an expansive urban environment overrun by a vicious outbreak, scavenging the world for supplies and crafting weapons to defend against the growing infected population. At night, the hunter becomes the hunted, as the infected become aggressive and more dangerous. Most frightening are the predators which only appear after sundown. Players must use everything in their power to survive until the morning’s first light.

So Dying Light is basically “I Am Legend: The Game.” I can get behind that.
