Madden NFL 13, Borderlands 2 lead all September bestsellers

Boom! The annual juggernaut that is the Madden NFL Football has once again taken the top spot for September sales as Madden NFL 13 reigned supreme last month.
Gearbox’s Borderlands 2 followed close behind with strong sales of its own. In fact, they were so strong that the sequel managed to top the first month sales of the original Borderlands by 234%. That is just an insane number.
New releases controlled much of the top ten with FIFA Soccer 13 (#3), Guild Wars 2 (#5), NHL 13 (#6), and World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria (#7) also performing well.
The full top ten for September 2012 can be found after the break. (more…)

Rockstar Games Collection includes Red Dead, LA Noire, GTA Episodes, Midnight Club LA
It’s just raining Rockstar news today! In addition to showing a trio of editors from Game Informer around Grand Theft Auto V, the publisher also announced that the four-game Rockstar Games Collection: Edition 1 will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 6.
The compilation, which is priced at $59.99, is a stellar deal and includes such fan favorites as Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City, and Midnight Club: Los Angeles – Complete Edition. If these games have somehow passed under your personal radar, here’s a quick overview of what you’ll find within the Rockstar Games Collection: Edition 1…
Red Dead Redemption – Winner of over 170 Game of the Year awards, Red Dead Redemption brings the dying West to life with a vibrant open-world, powerful story, and intense single- and multiplayer action.
Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City – The explosive conclusion to the highest-rated game of all time, Grand Theft Auto IV, featuring two complete games on one disc: The Lost and Damned & The Ballad of Gay Tony.
L.A. Noire – The revolutionary crime thriller featuring MotionScan, a breakthrough technology that captures every nuance of a real actor’s facial performance, providing a level of realism, detail and emotion never before seen in a video game. Featuring brand new gameplay and a dark, hard-boiled detective story, L.A. Noire became the first ever video game to be recognized by the Tribeca Film Festival.
Midnight Club: Los Angeles Complete Edition – One of the highest-reviewed racing titles of this generation, featuring deeply customizable real world cars, non-stop open world street racing and intense multiplayer action. The Complete Edition also includes every downloadable real world vehicle and city section released since launch.

First Borderlands 2 DLC expansion available next week

“Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty.”
It sounds like the solution to a particularly dirty game of Clue, but in reality, it’s the name of the first downloadable expansion for Borderlands 2. And it’ll be available next week!
The campaign add-on will be available to download for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on October 16. If you pre-purchased the Borderlands 2 Season Pass, you’ll be able to download the expansion for free. If not, it’ll run you $9.99/800 Microsoft Points on your platform of choice.
Gearbox has planned three more expansions, and we’ll hopefully have more information on them soon.

Game Informer is getting a hands-on look at Grand Theft Auto V right now
How’s this for breaking news? Game Informer is reporting that three of their editors are at Rockstar’s New York headquarters to get a hands-on look at Grand Theft Auto V for a December cover story. Aside from a handful of screenshots released over the Summer, GTA5 has been subject to a self-imposed media blackout by its publisher since early March. So we’re grabbing onto any GTA5 news crumbs that we can.
Thankfully, Rockstar’s radio silence will come crashing down next month thanks to the huge info blowout planned by Game Informer. Who knows, maybe we’ll even get a release date.

The Joker and Green Lantern confirmed for Injustice thanks to ubercreepy box art
The Joker has never been one to shy away from a fight, and his gruesome mug is front and center on the official Injustice: Gods Among Us box art, just released today by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
Also, did you know The Joker is going to be included in Injustice: Gods Among Us? Because he is. And apparently so is the Green Lantern. While it would have been a huge shock if either of these two characters didn’t make the final cut, it’s nice to finally have confirmation. But what I’d really like to know is who’ll be voicing the Clown Prince of Crime now that Mark Hamill has hung up his purple suit.
Injustice: Gods Among Us is still in development at NetherRealm Studios and will be available for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U in April 2013.

BioShock Infinite returns from radio silence next week
Irrational Games has finally given us some hope: a countdown appeared on the official BioShock Facebook page this morning. The timer is counting down for a new BioShock Infinite trailer release, set to go live on October 21 at 7 AM EST.
This is the first information we’ve gotten since the delay was announced. The game – originally slated to be out next week – was postponed until February 26, 2013. There has been speculation that the delay was due to a reworking of the game’s multiplayer modes. But could it be possible that they’re bringing the game to the Wii U as well?
The game has been absent from all the major gaming shows, and will be out before PAX East next year. This means that, as creative director Ken Levine said, “the next time you see our game, it will be essentially the product we intend to put in the box.”
That’s pretty exciting and a little terrifying. I can’t wait until they start working on the BioShock game for Vita.

God of War: Ascension demo included with Total Recall Blu-ray
Just so we’re clear, the headline is referring to Total Recall the 2012 remake, not Total Recall the Arnold Schwarzenegger masterpiece. Anyway…
When the Total Recall remake starring Colin Farrell, kate Beckinsale, and Jessica Biel comes to Blu-ray on December 18, it’ll bring a God of War: Ascension demo first glimpsed at E3 2012 with it. The demo will be available on the disc “for a limited time.” It’ll likely make its way to the PlayStation Network after this limited time, but Sony has yet to say for sure.
This isn’t the first time Kratos has teamed up with a Sony Pictures Blu-ray release. A God of War III demo was included with District 9 back in 2009.

Painkiller: Hell & Damnation comes to PC this Halloween, PS3/Xbox 360 in January

Nordic Games has announced that Painkiller: Hell & Damnation, their remake of the Doom-like first person shooter, will be available in “uncut” form for the PC on October 31. That’s right, Halloween. Muwhahahaha.
With the evil laugh out of the way, Nordic also revealed that a PS3 and Xbox 360 version of Painkiller: Hell & Damnation is also in the works. The PS3/Xbox 360 edition of the game, along with a “cut” version of the PC edition, will be available in stores on January 22, 2013.
If you’re so inclined, a PC-exclusive Collector’s Edition will also be available on October 31 and it’ll include “stickers, postcards from hell, ten tracks from the heavy metal soundtrack, a making of DVD, in-game tarot card for Single Player Power-Up and an exclusive multiplayer skin.”
