Modern Warfare 3 Content Season trailer hints at single-player expansion
Are you ready to go behind-the-scenes of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Content Season, specificially the new maps, “Liberation” and “Piazza?” Then you’re in luck, as Infinity Ward has released a video detailing all of the work the team is putting into the first of 20 content drops they have planned for Modern Warfare 3 in 2012.
Most interesting of all is the fact that Robert Bowling, Community Manager at Infinity Ward, strongly hinted that the team is planning at least one expansion to the single-player campaign when he summed up the new content that’ll be available for Modern Warfare 3: “Awesome multiplayer, new Spec Ops missions, extensions to the story, new game modes that we can add…”
The last (and so far, only) time a Call of Duty game received a single-player expansion was 2004’s Call of Duty: United Offensive.

The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection is something many gamers have anticipated for a long time. Hardcore fans of the series and those who never had a chance to play these two masterpieces were equally excited at the opportunity to play the games remastered and in high definition. It’s a perfect package, with enough here to fill the appetite of nearly any gamer. (more…)

Nine months of CoD Modern Warfare 3 DLC announced
You knew they were coming, and now, Activision has announced the details of the first two downloadable maps for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Scheduled to drop January 24 for Xbox 360-owning Call of Duty Elite subscribers, “Liberation” and “Piazza” will bring the war to Central Park and a serene Italian villa. In “Liberation,” players will find “a vast, militarized landscape, ripe for long-range sniper and LMG fire, with mounted turrets on either end that lend power to anyone brave enough to expose themselves in exchange for deadly firepower.” Meanwhile, “Piazza” is considered “the idyllic Italian getaway that is anything but, where tight corners and branching pathways pose great risk at every turn.”
Call of Duty Elite users will also receive a variety of content drops throughout 2012. At least once per month, Activision plans to unleash a new piece of content on the CoD Elite community. In addition to the maps, another piece of content will launch in mid-February with two more scheduled for March. All told, at least 20 pieces of DLC will be released for Modern Warfare 3 between now and September.
All of the CoD Elite content drops will be available first for Xbox 360 owners with PC and PS3 subscribers getting them “at a later time.”
But speaking of March, that’s how long non-Call of Duty Elite subscribers will have to wait to get their hands on these maps, when the first “Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection” will be made available for download.
That’s the sound of Activision selling many more CoD Elite subscriptions. Dismissed!

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 tees off on March 27

Are you ready to tee off in 2012? EA Sports has announced that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 27 (sorry Wii owners).
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 will Kinect/Move support, 22 professional golfers (including Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, and Bubba Watson), 16 courses, and “Total Swing Control.” According to EA Sports, Tiger Woods 13 will feature the “most significant leap forward in swing mechanics in over a decade.”
In addition to enhanced controller controls and brand new motion control, Tiger Woods 13 will include several new modes. In “Tiger’s Golf Legacy,” players will be able to relive Tiger’s career on the links from his child prodigy days all the way up to the present. And with “Online Country Clubs,” players will be able to create their own exclusive country club and compete with their friends online.
Finally, players looking for an extended golf outing will be able to purchase The Masters Collector’s Edition for $69.99. It’ll include five additional courses, the Augusta National’s Tournament Practice Facility and Par 3 Course, an authentic Green Jacket Presentation, and “a chance to explore the hallowed grounds like never before.”

Silent Hill HD Collection will now scare gamers in March

Konami has informed Game Informer that the Silent Hill HD Collection won’t be available in stores on January 24 as previously announced.
The compilation package, which contains Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3, will instead be released sometime in March. This new release date will actually push the HD Collection into competition with Silent Hill: Downpour, which also has a March release date.
That’s a lot of Silent Hill for PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers to handle.

Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition kills the kompetition on February 28

We all suspected it was koming, but today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment made the Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition official.
Mortal Kombat: Komplete will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on February 28, presumably for a bargain price. The package will include the original, award-winning game that was first released in April 2011, all four DLC characters (Skarlet, Kenshi, Rain, and Freddy Krueger), 15 Klassic Skins and three Klassic Fatalities (Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile).
If that weren’t enough, the box will also include a download code for a digital copy of the “Mortal Kombat: Songs Inspired by the Warriors” soundtrack album and the 1995 Mortal Kombat film.
Awesomeality!

Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition power slides into your PS3 in two weeks

Did anyone seriously think that Gran Turismo 5 was lacking for content? With 1000 cars and 70 tracks, it already took 20 minutes just to figure out how much camber to dial in on the wheels and what sort of weather you wanted on the Top Gear Test Track. But, Polyphony Digital decided that you needed even more glorious cars, racetracks, and features.
On January 17, say hello to Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition. It’s for all of you petrol-heads that thought that Gran Turismo 5 didn’t have a long enough install time. Featuring the original game and all the online updates through Spec 2.0 right on the disc, it would be best pop it in before you go out Friday night to party like a race car driver. It might be ready by Sunday morning.
As a little bit of anti-freeze icing on your gasoline-flavored digital cake, included is a voucher for $20 worth of downloadable content including the Racing Car Pack, Car Pack 2, Course Pack, Racing Gear Pack, and Paint Pack..
All that for $39.99? That’s about $999,960 less than it would cost to actually have a Bugatti Veyron in your garage.

New Releases: National Geographic Challenge! for PS3, More (sort of)
Did I not warn you last week that the month of January would be an incredibly slow time for new releases? I hope you believed me, as this week the only new releases we’re going to get are…
National Geographic Challenge! for the PS3. A National Geographic-themed trivia game that has been available on the Wii and Xbox 360 for a few weeks now…
Play 101: Premium Games Collection, a budget collection of minigames for the PC…
And My Pet Puppy 3D, a pet simulator for the 3DS (yes, another one).
Once again, the download scene will supply us with several interesting new games this week including the helicopter sim Choplifter HD and the freaky horror show that is Amy. We’ll have more on those later in the week.
