Activision unveiling Amazing Spider-Man trailer at Spike TV VGAs
Activision released the first gameplay trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man during the New York Comic-Con (check it out above). Today, they’ve announced that a “WORLD PREMIERE EXCLUSIVE TRAILER” (emphasis theirs) for the game will make its debut during this Saturday’s Spike TV Video Game Awards.
Sadly, it’ll probably end up being the same trailer as a teaser at the game’s official website features footage identical to the Comic-Con trailer.
But we’ve also learned that screenwriter Seamus Kevin Fahey will be crafting the story of the Beenox-developed game, which will take place after the events of the new movie. His previous credits include episodes of “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena” and “Battlestar Galactica.”
Gamers will be able to websling all around an open world Manhattan next Summer, when The Amazing Spider-Man comes to the 3DS, DS, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360.

Resistance 3 Review: It Won’t Be Hard to Resist This Game

Insomniac Games had a lot to live up to with the newest entry in the Resistance series. The ending of Resistance 2 was so devastating, so powerful, so moving, that it was impossible for me to predict what was going to come next. I imagined some sort of intense space opera moving from there, possibly where humans went out into space, searching the rift that was created at the end of the second game. I created whole storylines in my head, many of which involved Hale somehow still being alive. But what I didn’t imagine was the utter and complete disappointment that would be Resistance 3. (more…)

Saving Benny: The Bromance of Fallout: New Vegas

Howdy Folks! This article includes spoilers for Fallout: New Vegas. There is also some swearing, partly because the game is rated Mature, and partly because the writer is Scottish. You have been warned. Have a good ‘un.
“You sick, vindictive fuck!”
These were Benny’s last words to me when I finally gave up trying to save him, opting instead to crucify him and pushed forward through the rest of Fallout: New Vegas, a brilliant yet bug-ridden game that entertained as much as it frustrated. By the bitter end, after numerous screen freezes and load errors, stuttering frame rates and other exasperating glitches, I stumbled through to the final fight, killing Legate Lanius and handing General Lee Oliver the conditions for the New California Republic’s withdrawal from New Vegas as dictated by Mr. House. All this while wearing a spacesuit helmet. I watched the epilogue narrated by the various characters I had met, but through it all, someone was missing. (more…)
Daily Scoop: December 5, 2011 – Kaaaaart!
It’s only been out for a little over 24 hours, and yet I can’t stop playing Mario Kart 7. It is so much fun! Especially the gliding, and the going underwater, and the retro circuits, and… yeah. Pretty much everything. The only problem with all Mario Kart games made after Mario Kart: Double Dash!! is that the DD music is always stuck in my head. Not that that’s a bad thing…
So today is day 7 of Amazon’s 19 Days of Deals, and it’s Music & Dance Day! Leading the pack on these deals is Just Dance 3 coming in at $25.99 on the PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360. That’s what I call a scoop!
No game shirts today, but I love Nowhere Bad‘s “Vote Bueller:” (more…)
PS3 exclusive The Last of Us to debut at Spike TV VGAs
The “World Premieres” at the Spike TV Video Game Awards are usually rife with sequels, but there’s always a few original games to stoke our fever for new stories. This year’s broadcast, which is scheduled for Satuday, December 10 at 8 PM, will include a PS3-exclusive known as The Last of Us.
The teaser trailer above features archival footage of riots and the aftermath of a global pandemic while a voice talks about the world that was before revealing it’s “all gone.” Another video, a 14-second closeup of an ant, is available at the game’s official website.
I’m not quite sure what’s going on here, but I want to find out.
