Limbo dancing onto PSN, Steam very soon

Developer Playdead likely had to build a whole new wing in their headquarters to hold all the awards Limbo won last year. Now, it looks like the XBLA hit will soon be heading to the PC (via Steam) and the PlayStation Network.

Playdead CEO and co-founder Dino Patti confirmed the good news to Joystiq earlier today:

“This might be the second time around we have been waiting for,” Patti said, referencing his quote from last May in which he said, “You won’t see a PS3 or PC version this time around.” Patti said that “Limbo is in production for Steam and PSN, and is coming very soon.” With a release date of “very soon” he predictably said more details would be coming shortly.

Playdead is also hard at work on an original game, but they’re still not ready to talk about it just yet.

Dungeon Siege III Review: An Elegant RPG For a More Civilized Age

In a lot of ways, Dungeon Siege III can be considered a “first” for the franchise. It’s the first game in the series published by Square Enix, and the first developed by Obsidian Entertainment. It’s the first Dungeon Siege game to appear on a console, and the first new game in the series in five years. With this new beginning at hand, I dove into the Dungeon Siege series myself for the first time and came away with a pretty good RPG experience. (more…)

WB Games reveals official Batman: Arkham City box art… again

Two weeks ago, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment revealed the final cover design for Batman: Arkham City. Apparently, someone at the company was less than pleased with the final selection as the publisher has unveiled a new cover design for the game today.

As you can see, Batman is standing in a similar pose in both box shots, but the new design showcases his profile instead of the head-on view of the previous design.

Whichever image makes it onto store shelves, Batman: Arkham City will be released for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 18. The game will also be available for the Wii U next year.

Daily Scoop: June 29, 2011 – More Uncharted 3 than you can handle!

Did you make it into the beta for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception? No? Well we’ve got some good news – we have an extra beta code we’re giving away. Click here for more details! And let me tell you… this is a beta you don’t want to miss. I played a ton of it last night, and it’s fun!

For all of you crazy SRPG fans out there, Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games is Square Enix’s Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together for the PSP. It’s $27.99, and if Mike Gutierrez can be trusted, it’s pretty freaking amazing.

As for the t-shirt scene today, well, I want four of them – the shirt.w00t meme shirt, the Tee Fury Rorschach shirt, and Qwertee‘s Portal 2/Pokemon mash-up (gotta test ’em all!). But today’s clear winner is over at Ript Apparel. It’s aptly named “Yet Another Pixel Shirt,” and is pretty cool:

Wow. Love. <3

Sonic Generations Hands-On Preview: The Last 20 Years Has Been a Loop-the-Loop

Sega has officially decided that Sonic’s 20th anniversary needs a little commemoration, and what better way to celebrate than introduce Sonic Generations, a 2D/3D variable game honoring the hedgehog’s past and recent achievements? That was the intention, anyway. The initial trailer for this game has once again involved many gamers in “The Sonic Cycle,” the ailment that falls over classic fans of the Genesis series, causing initial excitement followed by disappointing suicide threats. It seems that 2011 is no different from any other year with a Sonic release, because The Sonic Cycle is at an all-time high if the finished product is anything like the demo (though a disclaimer states that it may not be). IGDA to investigate Team Bondi working conditions on L.A. Noire

We just reported today on the various sources claiming Team Bondi developers suffered under harsh circumstances while working on L.A. Noire. Today, the International Game Developers Association is soliciting any and all information from developers and family members about the experience on the work, negative or positive.

“Certainly reports of 12-hour a day, lengthy crunch time, if true, are absolutely unacceptable and harmful to the individuals involved, the final product, and the industry as a whole,” said Brian Robbins, Chair of the IGDA’s Board of Directors.

You can send any information to qol@igda.org.
