Code Vein will sink its teeth into PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 28
Bandai Namco has announced that Code Vein, their upcoming vampire-centric action RPG, will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 28. In addition to the launch date confirmation, the publisher also unveiled a very stylized new trailer, which has been embedded above.
Venture into the land of Code Vein and uncover its secrets. Players will be able to craft their own unique character and customize their experience by equipping numerous weapons, items, skills and gifts to accommodate their favorite fighting style or gain a competitive advantage against impossible odds. Various A.I. controlled partners will also be on-hand to explore the interconnected world with their own specialized attributes and personalities.
If you want to get your hands on Code Vein before its released, and you’re attending next week’s E3 Expo, you’ll want to stop by the Bandai Namco in South Hall (#1647). A playable demo of Code Vein will be available, alongside the publisher’s other upcoming games.
Red Faction: Guerrilla – Re-Mars-tered Edition will be available on July 3
THQ Nordic has announced that the third game in the Red Faction franchise, Red Faction: Guerrilla, will soon be available in a new Re-Mars-tered Edition for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game, which was originally released for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in 2009, will be available on July 3.
Best of all, PC players who already own Red Faction: Guerrilla will be able to upgrade to the Re-Mars-tered Edition for free.
Be sure to check out the new trailer embedded above to get a look at Red Faction: Guerrilla’s “fully reworked graphics, improved shadow rendering, improved lighting, and reworked shaders and postprocessing.” And don’t worry, all these graphical tricks will be on full display in 4K resolution for players who own a PS4 Pro, an Xbox One X, or a suitably powerful PC.

The Games of June 2018

We’re less than a week away from the unofficial opening of this year’s E3 Expo, and the new release calendar has begun to dry up in anticipation of gaming’s biggest showcase. But there will still be plenty to play in the month of June, including an off-kilter new puzzler from Nintendo (Sushi Striker: The Way of The Sushido), a side-scrolling sequel to one of the strangest games of the 90s (Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn), a dinosaur-themed theme park creator (Jurassic World: Evolution), and Mario’s latest sporting adventure (Mario Tennis Aces).
You can find out exactly why the Warp Zoned staff is looking forward to these games, and view the release schedule for all of this month’s new games, after the break. (more…)

New Retail Releases: Vampyr, Sushi Striker, Onrush, More

The bold and the bizarre highlight this week’s New Retail Releases…
Dontnod, the creative team behind Life Is Strange, are leaving suburbia for the streets of Victorian London and Vampyr (PC, PS4, Xbox One) this week. The RPG infects players with the bloodsucking disease and asks them to save (or doom) the city from the 1918 flu pandemic.
Speaking of unusual meals, Nintendo is hoping players will be interested in a brand new competitive puzzler this week, Sushi Striker: The Way of The Sushido (Switch, 3DS). Build the ultimate sushi plate and do battle with bosses to stop the Empire’s tyrannical monopoly of the world’s sushi supply.
And Codemasters is back this week with Onrush (PS4, Xbox One), an extreme racing game that gives player the chance to “traverse huge ramps flying hundreds of feet through the sky.”
But if you’d rather participate in extreme fisticuffs, Arc System Works will release BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle (PS4, Switch), a crossover fighter that brings together characters from the BlazBlue, Persona, Under Night In-Birth, and RWBY franchises. Shoppers will also be able to slam it home as Shaquille O’Neal this week as the basketball great returns to take up side-scrolling brawling once again in Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn (PS4, Switch, Xbox One).
Finally this week, Switch owners can look forward to Happy Birthdays, the latest game from Yasuhiro Wada, the creator of the Harvest Moon series. PS4 and Xbox One owners will get their chance to try out the latest Elder Scrolls Online expansion, The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset. And Koei will launch the latest game in the Nobunaga’s Ambition franchise, Nobunaga’s Ambition: Taishi for the PS4.
That’s all for now, but we’ll be back later this week with a look at all the new additions to the PlayStation Store, Xbox Games Store, and Nintendo eShop.

New Battle Princess Madelyn trailer shows off the game’s first level
Casual Bit Games continues to plug away at Battle Princess Madelyn, their side-scrolling homage to 16-bit classics like Super Ghouls N Ghosts and Wonder Boy 3: The Dragon’s Trap, and development is nearly complete on the first half of the game. To mark this milestone, the developer has released a new trailer highlighting the game’s animated introduction and gameplay from the first chapter.
Battle Princess Madelyn is currently in development for the PC, PS4, Switch, Vita, Wii U, and Xbox One. The game was originally expected to be released in Early 2018, but rather than announce a new launch date, Casual Bit Games has said that it’ll be done when it’s done.
Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, Sega Genesis Classics, Harvest Moon: Light of Hope, more coming to PS Store this week
PS4 owners will get to experience a major blast from the past in this week’s PlayStation Store update…
Collecting 12 Street Fighter games in a single package, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is the biggest Street Fighter compilation ever. Fans will be able to go all the way back to the beginning with Street Fighter, and then tag in five different iterations of Street Fighter II, three iterations of Street Fighter III, and the entire Street Fighter Alpha trilogy. A bevy of bonus features and online play will also be included.
Not to be outdone, Sega will release Sega Genesis Classics this week. Containing more than 50 games from the publisher’s 16-bit heyday, Sega Genesis Classics features a diverse lineup of games including Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Streets of Rage 2, Phantasy Star, and many more.
Finally this week, PS4 owners will be able to download Harvest Moon: Light of Hope – Special Edition, the latest game in Natsume’s series of farming simulations.
You can learn more about the rest of this week’s additions (including Agony, Moonlighter, Knights of Pen and Paper +1 Deluxier Edition, and more) to the PlayStation Store after the break. (more…)

Sega officially announces Team Sonic Racing for a Winter release
After a bit of teasing earlier this year at the SXSW Gaming Expo, Sega has officially announced that Team Sonic Racing will be released for the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One this Winter:
Team Sonic Racing arrives this Winter! Race in a team with your friends (or against them) both offline and online, and choose from a variety of characters and tracks in the Sonic universe!
Sega has enlisted Sumo Digital, the team behind both Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, to develop Team Sonic Racing. And the publisher has promised that the game will be fully playable at this year’s E3 Expo.
Presumably, we’ll get a glimpse at a longer trailer next month. For now, fans will have to be content with a new Teaser Trailer, which has been embedded above.
Mega Man 11 will power slide onto the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on October 2
The Blue Bomber returns! Capcom has announced that Mega Man 11 will make its way to the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on October 2.
Fans who pre-order the side-scroller on any platform will receive access to an “Alternative Soundtrack” in the game, but Switch owners will want to make special note of the Amiibo Edition. Mega Man 11’s Amiibo Edition will include a copy of the game, as well as a brand new Mega Man Amiibo figure, a Dr. Wily logo adhesive patch, a set of four stickers, and a Robot Master stage select screen microfiber cloth.
In addition to a launch date, Capcom unveiled a new trailer focusing on Mega Man 11’s Double Gear System. These new special powers will enable the Blue Bomber to slow down time and deliver a more powerful punch with his arm cannon. The publisher talked a bit more about the Double Gear System on the Capcom-Unity blog:
At its core, the Double Gear System has two main functions that empower Mega Man (and players) with brand new abilities. Mega Man speeds up with the aptly-named Speed Gear, causing the world around him move much slower by comparison. If you need a moment to dodge incoming projectiles, make a desperate jump, or simply need a breather to figure out a tricky situation, the Speed Gear is just a button press away to give you a chance to escape and quickly adapt to any situation. It’s great for both newcomers who need a little extra time to figure out enemy and boss patterns, or veterans who can expertly maneuver their way around levels.
The Power Gear pushes Mega Man’s power output beyond maximum, powering up his regular buster shots and allowing him to charge his Mega Buster to an even higher level than before to unleash two charge shots at a time. Special weapons gained from defeated Robot Masters will also power up in various ways when Mega Man has the Power Gear active. Be careful how you use these new skills, though! You can turn each gear on and off at will with a quick button press, but pushing Mega Man to his limit will cause him to overheat, preventing him from using the Double Gear system until he’s cooled off a bit.
If things are looking desperate, Mega Man can also activate both gears at once when his health is critically low to slow time to a crawl and unleash his full potential in one massive, overcharged shot from his Mega Buster! Careful, though – you can’t turn this technique off once it’s active, and Mega Man will be severely weakened afterwards. Make it count!
The trailer also gives us our first glimpse at two of Mega Man’s foes in Mega Man 11. Brick Man can form blocks out of thin air, while Fuse Man moves with electrifying speed.
Mega Man 11 will be playable at this year’s E3 Expo at the Capcom Booth (South Hall, Booth #2223), and a closer look at the Amiibo Edition can be found after the break. (more…)
