Okami HD, Cosmic Star Heroine, Minit, more coming to Nintendo eShop this week

It’s Thursday, so Nintendo has once again revealed more than a dozen new Switch games that’ll make their way to the Nintendo eShop over the next seven days… and that includes three highly-acclaimed titles that originally debuted on other platforms.
First up, Switch owners will be able to download Capcom’s Okami HD beginning today. Players will take control of the sun goddess Amaterasu in this action-adventure, and attempt to restore color to the land of Japan. Also available to download today is Minit, a Zelda-like overhead action game that must be completed in one-minute chunks.
Finally this week, Zeboyd Games will bring their retro-styled sci-fi RPG, Cosmic Star Heroine, to the Switch on Tuesday, August 14.
You can learn more about the rest of this week’s additions to the Nintendo eShop after the break. (more…)

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is coming to consoles on August 16
Steel Crate Games has announced that Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, their bomb defusal party game, will make its way to the Switch and Xbox One on August 16. PS4 owners can already purchase the game through the PlayStation Store, but a “Non-VR Update” will be made available the same day to remove the PlayStation VR requirement.
If you’re unfamiliar with Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, the trailer embedded above should give you a pretty good idea about how it works. This quick overview, straight from the developer, is a pretty concise explanation as well (and as we all know, when you’re diffusing a bomb, every second counts)…
In Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, one player is trapped in a room with a ticking time bomb they must defuse. The other players are the “Experts” who must give the instructions to defuse the bomb by deciphering the information found in the Bomb Defusal Manual. But there’s a catch: the Experts can’t see the bomb, so everyone will need to talk it out… fast!
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is now available to pre-order through the Nintendo eShop and Xbox Games Store, and it can be yours for 10% off if you slam down on the “Buy” button before launch day.

WB Games will release Scribblenauts Mega Pack on September 18

Even though they launched Scribblenauts Showdown earlier this year, it looks like WB Games isn’t finished with the popular puzzle franchise. This morning, they announced that the Scribblenauts Mega Pack will be released this Fall for the PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
The Mega Pack is a two-game collection that packages together Scribblenauts Unlimited (which was first released in 2012) and Scribblenauts Unmasked (which followed a year later).
But WB Games isn’t just re-releasing these titles in their original form on new platforms. Instead, both games will also receive loads of never-before-seen bonus content as part of the Mega Pack:
Scribblenauts Unlimited fosters unlimited creativity, exploration and social elements that create a fun experience for fans of all ages. The game features a huge side-scrolling open world with high-definition, hand-drawn scenery and objects where players can help the game’s hero, Maxwell, solve robust puzzles and challenges by summoning any object they can imagine. Scribblenauts Unlimited has been updated with two new bonus levels, supports online sharing of user-created objects, updates two-player mode, and features a new easy-to-use “sunflower” style text entry system. The new Zed Zeppelin level lets players battle sky pirates and work with crew members to keep the dirigible safe while the new Land of Sweet Hyperbole level allows players to drive around in a candy car and interact with candy neighbors.
Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure melds the boundless creativity of Scribblenauts with thousands of DC characters and objects – all drawn in the distinctive Scribblenauts art style. In the game, Maxwell comes to the aid of the mightiest DC Super Heroes Batman, Superman, and the rest of the Justice League as they face the fiercest DC Super-Villains, such as The Joker, Lex Luthor, and Sinestro. Fueled by the player’s imagination, where anything they write comes to life, Maxwell must use his magic notebook to summon heroes and tools to stop the villains’ evil schemes and save the universe. In his imaginative and comical quest, he must travel to iconic DC locations such as Gotham City, Metropolis, Atlantis, and two new bonus locations, Titans Tower, under attack by the formidable demon Trigon, and Belle Reve, the base of operations for the Task Force X. Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure has also been updated with hundreds of new DC characters, objects and costumes.
The Scribblenauts Mega Pack will be released on September 18.

The Ikari Warriors star in the latest SNK 40th Anniversary Collection trailer
Like many of SNK’s pre-NeoGeo franchises, the Ikari Warriors trilogy isn’t talked about much these days. But these overhead shooters were well-loved in the uber-macho 1980s and all three games will be playable in the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection.
A new trailer for the compilation gives fans their first look at the Ikari Warriors in several decades, and confirms that the “Arcade” and “Console” versions all three games will be available to play:
What is the Ikari Warriors Trilogy?
Shoot-em-ups were all the rage in ’80s, and in 1986, SNK launched Ikari Warriors, a game that took guerrilla carnage to a new level of lunacy! In this game, the player assumed the roles of two muscly men named Ralf Jones and Clark Steel (King of Fighters, anyone?), who were blasting and mowing down enemy forces in a South American jungle to save their commanding officer. After the success of Ikari Warriors, there were two more entries in the series that took Ralf and Clark on further adventures, Ikari Warriors II: Victory Road (1988) and Ikari III: The Rescue (1990). Each of these titles brought a unique focus to the gameplay. Victory Road focused on the use of guns and explosives, while Ikari III: The Rescue brought more attention to hand-to-hand combat.
The SNK 40th Anniversary Collection will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on November 13.

Simon Belmont and King K. Rool coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
After announcing that every previous combatant in the Super Smash Bros. series would be returning for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nintendo is now turning their attention towards adding new characters to the fighting franchise. This morning, during a Smash-themed new Nintendo Direct, the consolemaker confirmed that Castlevania‘s Simon Belmont and Donkey Kong Country’s King K. Rool will join the fight:
Simon Belmont: Simon’s signature weapon is, of course, his whip, with special attacks true to the Castlevania series, including the axe, cross, holy water and Grand Cross Final Smash. His stage is Dracula’s Castle, with candlesticks that release an item when destroyed. Alucard, the tragic hero from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, appears as an Assist Trophy, lending his cursed steel in battle. Richter Belmont, a descendant of Simon Belmont and the star of his own Castlevania games, also joins the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster as an Echo fighter.
King K. Rool: As the beloved villain from all three Donkey Kong Country games on Super NES, King K. Rool joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a playable fighter. He attacks with a blunderbuss that can fire cannonballs at opponents, and throws his crown, which acts like a boomerang.
In addition to Richter Belmont, Nintendo also revealed two more Echo Fighters for Smash Bros. Ultimate… Metroid‘s Dark Samus (for Samus Aran) and Fire Emblem‘s Chrom (for Roy).
But new characters was just the beginning. The consolemaker used this Nintendo Direct to announce that morphing stages will be included in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as well as 900 music tracks, new Assist Trophies (including Shovel Knight), and a new Final Smash Meter. You can watch a replay of the Nintendo Direct presentation embedded above or view a quick rundown of all of today’s announcements after the break.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on December 7. (more…)

Sega’s Gamescom 2018 lineup includes Team Sonic Racing, Valkyria Chronicles 4, Persona 3: Dancing, Persona 5: Dancing, and more

Sega has big plans for this year’s Gamescom show, and the publisher will give attendees the chance to try out six playable demos, as well as give gamers their first look at the soccer-centric skills needed for Football Manager 2019.
Strategic planning is at the center of several of Sega’s Gamescom offerings, including “epic strategy RPG” Valkyria Chronicles 4 and team-based racer Team Sonic Racing. But if you want to kick off your shoes and dance, the publisher will also have kiosks available for Persona 3: Dancing in the Moonlight and Persona 5: Dancing in the Starlight.
Here’s a look at their complete Gamescom 2018 lineup:
Team Sonic Racing, developed by award-winning studio Sumo Digital, is the ultimate arcade and fast-paced competitive style racing experience, featuring your favourite characters from across the Sonic Universe. Visitors to the stand will have the opportunity to race on an all new track, Ice Mountain, and experience two brand new playable teams.
Creative Assembly’s Total War: Three Kingdoms will also showcase never-seen-before content and consumers will get the chance to go hands-on with the game for the very first time. Players will witness an exclusive look at the exotic lands of ancient China in a campaign map flythrough before being thrust into the midst of a night-time ambush battle. Sun Jian’s army, led by Sun Ren and Sun Quan, must defend against waves of incoming heroes and warriors or choose to make a break for freedom.
As if that wasn’t enough, epic strategy RPG Valkyria Chronicles 4, frantic action/adventure Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, and the hugely anticipated rhythm games Persona 3: Dancing in the Moonlight and Persona 5: Dancing in the Starlight will feature on the stand in a collection of some of the hottest unreleased Japanese IP on the planet. Make sure you leave yourself enough time to play everything!
Football Manager 2019 will make its Gamescom debut this year as an official partner of the Bundesliga, with an activation that will put football fans in the firing line for questioning from renowned ESPN Football Journalist, Raphael Honigstein. After they’ve been grilled, they’ll get to line-up in front of a Football Manager themed step and repeat for an authentic Football Manager photo and leave with a Football Manager notebook. A must have for would-be managers! The game itself will not be playable.
Gamescom 2018 will take place, as always, in Cologne, Germany. This year’s show will open its doors beginning on Tuesday, August 21.
NIS America will bring The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince to the PS4 and Switch in 2019
NIS America is back with another visually inventive game from across the Pacific. This time around, the prolific publisher’s in-house development team is ready to announce The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince.
The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is a puzzle platformer that’s currently in the works for the PS4 and Switch. It’s also an “enchantingly dark fairy tale” about the friendship and love between the two titular characters:
Alone in the forest, a wolf sings her song. Mesmerized by this beautiful voice, a little prince from a nearby kingdom wanders into the dark forest every night to find its source. However, the little prince startles the wolf during one of his visits, and she swipes her long claws in fear and blinds him.
Now, the blind prince must trek through the dangerous forest to find a cure and restore his sight. The wolf, transformed into a beautiful princess, shall be his guide. With her ability to transform at will, she will protect the little prince at all cost. But can a blind prince survive in an all-seeing forest?
The first trailer for The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince has been embedded above, and fans of the game’s gorgeous visuals can expect to see it on store shelves sometime in 2019.
