Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 Episode 2 will be available on August 15; Season 1 comes to Switch on August 22

Telltale Games has announced that Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2‘s second episode, Giant Consequences, will be released for the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices on August 15. This time, Jesse and friends are bound for a new adventure in the “icy unknown”:

There may be more to this fearsome foe than meets the eye, but to find out, Jesse — together with a few trusty friends — must embark on another adventure, this time into the icy unknown…
Fans of Nintendo’s newest console will also be happy to learn that the Complete Adventure collection for the original Minecraft: Story Mode will be released for the Switch on August 22. Yacht Club will bring Shovel Knight’s King Knight campaign to PAX West 2017

Ready Thy Shovel!
Yacht Club Games has announced that Shovel Knight‘s final expansion/spinoff, the King Knight campaign, will be unveiled during this year’s PAX West expo:
You are hereby invited to join us on a royal adventure!
We'll be at PAX West Sep. 1st-4th with King Knight in our most glamorous game yet! pic.twitter.com/hsw70KH6Ib
— Yacht Club Games (@YachtClubGames) August 1, 2017
Yacht Club’s Nick Wozniak recently described King Knight’s campaign as “light-hearted” and “goofy,” so it likely won’t be as sad as Specter of Torment.
Shovel Knight’s King Knight campaign is expected to launch later this year, and will be available as a free expansion for all owners of the Treasure Trove bundle for the 3DS, PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Vita, Xbox One, and mobile devices. The regal adventure will also be available as a standalone download on the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
Resident Evil Revelations officially coming to PS4, Xbox One on August 29; Revelations 1 and 2 also coming to Switch in Late 2017
Just a day after announcing that they’re “starting to prepare” more games for the Switch, Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be released for Nintendo’s newest console in Late 2017.
Now updated for current generation consoles, Resident Evil Revelations is the acclaimed survival horror title featuring series veterans Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield as they investigate the reportedly abandoned “Queen Zenobia” cruise ship. This new version features a smoother 1920×1080 resolution, an improved framerate, increased environmental detail and refined creature movement, defining the best-looking version of the game to date. All previously released downloadable content is also included in the game as unlockable rewards.
The publisher also clarified that Resident Evil Revelations will be available for the PS4 and Xbox One, as a retail release and a digital download, on August 29. A new trailer to go along with the announcement has been embedded above.

Capcom is “starting to prepare” more games for the Switch after Ultra Street Fighter II sells 450,000 copies

Even though it originally debuted in arcades more than 25 years ago, Capcom is reporting that Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers for the Switch is officially a “smash hit.” As part of the publisher’s latest quarterly financial report, they revealed that Ultra Street Fighter II sold 450,000 copies during its first month and a half of availability, including 100,000 copies in Japan and 350,000 in the North America/Europe.
Best of all, because of Ultra Street Fighter II’s success, Capcom also revealed they’re “starting to prepare” more games for release on the Switch. However, aside from a previously-announced port of Monster Hunter XX (which is currently only in development for Japan), we don’t know what Capcom has planned for Nintendo’s newest console.
Hopefully, Capcom has more to say about their Switch plans at this year’s Gamescom, which kicks off on August 22.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will be released in North America in 2018
It’s “Dragon Quest Day” in Japan, and Dragon Quest XI is now available for the 3DS and PS4 in its home country (a Switch version will be released at a later date). But what about Dragon Quest fans in North America and Europe and Australia? When will we get the chance to play the next game in the storied RPG franchise?
Today, Square Enix gave us an answer, and announced that Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will be released in North America (and other Western territories) in 2018. Yuji Horii, the creator of the Dragon Quest series, delivered the good news in the video embedded above:
The highly anticipated latest entry to the beloved Dragon Quest video game franchise follows the adventure of a hero who must solve the mystery of his fate with the aid of a charming cast of supporting characters. Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will offer a world of adventure, exploration and instances of heroism… all brought to life by the character art of famed manga artist Akira Toriyama and the memorable music of composer Koichi Sugiyama.
Square Enix will announce more details about Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age’s English-language launch this Fall.

Nintendo Download: Namco Museum, Hey! Pikmin, Miitopia, more
This week’s Nintendo Download is jam-packed full of new games, so let’s take a look…
First up, Bandai Namco will bring Namco Museum to the Switch this Friday. The compilation of arcade classics includes Pac-Man, Galaga, Splatterhouse, and Dig-Dug, as well as Pac-Man Vs. Switch owners will also get the chance to download Overcooked: Special Edition this week. Four cooks must band together to produce a series of tasty meals from the original game and both expansions.
And over on the 3DS, Nintendo themselves will launch a pair of new games… Hey! Pikmin and Miitopia. Hey! Pikmin is the first Pikmin game for the 3DS, as well as the first side-scrolling game in the series. And Miitopia is a colorful RPG featuring Miis based on your favorite people.
More information on all of these games (and the rest of this week’s releases) can be found after the break. (more…)

After four months Nintendo has sold 4.7 million Switch consoles

Nintendo launched their Switch console a little over four months ago, and earlier today, the company revealed sales figures for the system’s second quarter of availability.
According to Nintendo, they sold 1.97 million Switch consoles between April 1 and June 30, bringing the worldwide install base for the console to 4.7 million. These new Switch owners are also buying a lot of games, and Nintendo reported sales of more than a million copies during the quarter for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (1.16 million), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (3.54 million), and Arms (1.18 million).
For comparison, Nintendo sold 13.56 miilion Wii U consoles over the life of the system. It’s very possible the Switch will surpass that total before the end of its first year.

Graceful Explosion Machine will blast its way onto the PC and PS4 on August 8
Vertex Pop’s Graceful Explosion Machine added a bit of color to launch of the Nintendo Switch this Spring, but it looks like the side-scrolling shooter will warp to several new destinations next month. According to a post on the developer’s official website, Graceful Explosion Machine will be released for the PC and PS4 on August 8.
In addition to launching Graceful Explosion Machine on a pair of new platforms, Vertex Pop has also been working to update the game on the Switch. Fans will definitely notice the faster loading times, but an expanded stats screen is also on the docket:
We started by redesigning the score screen to give a clearer breakdown of your score, weapon usage, and additional stats that better reflect your play style. It’s both fun and functional.
We also wanted to make it easier to capture and share those clutch GEM moments. Once you’re in the zone, we know it’s hard to stop the game even for a few seconds to grab a screenshot, so we had to come up with a really creative solution.
Or, more accurately, a really technical one: We designed an AI system to pinpoint the most exciting moment of your run, which we then automagically screenshot and display on the score screen. You can fullscreen it, add it to your Album, share it, etc.
This update for Graceful Explosion Machine is now available to download on the Nintendo Switch, and will be available for the PC and PS4 when the game launches on August 8.
