Check out yet another awesome Kirby world in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
Kirby’s at it again in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. In the lovely E3 2014 trailer, everyone’s favorite Kirby moves around a world that looks like it’s claymation. The player can use the GamePad to draw rainbows, which Kirby can roll around on. And, of course, he turns into things like submarines, because he is Kirby, and that is how he rolls.
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse will be out in 2015 on the Wii U.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker E3 2014 trailer is painfully adorable
I think we can all agree that, while the same old question of “Who won E3 – Sony or Microsoft?” has still been going around, the truth is that Nintendo surprised and pleased everyone. The trailer for Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is no exception to this. The levels are colorful and whimsical, and the ability to switch to first-person view with the GamePad made me want the game right now.
Luckily, the wait won’t be that long, as the projected release date for Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker on the Wii U is this holiday season.

Mario vs Donkey Kong coming to the Wii U
I’ve been holding off on buying a Wii U, mainly because my backlog of games is absolutely ludicrous. But after seeing this E3 2014 trailer for Mario vs Donkey Kong, I’m pretty sure my willpower is not going to be able to hold out. Not only does it have all of the mind-ticklingly fun puzzles you know and love, it’s also got a robust workshop, where you can make your own levels. There’s also a button that lets you “Yeah” and “UnYeah” things, which… I don’t even know what’s going on anymore.
Mario vs Donkey Kong will be out on the Wii U sometime in 2015.
Come watch CoD Advanced Warfare’s 9-minute E3 2014 gameplay walkthrough
I haven’t said this in a long time, but I’m actually pretty excited about the latest Call of Duty, which is called Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. It has some pretty amazing science fiction elements in it, but looks like it still has that smooth gameplay CoD players know and love. The E3 2014 gameplay walkthrough above shows off part of the “Induction” campaign level, which takes place in Seoul, South Korea. This game has some incredible features, like being able to rip off a car door and use it as a shield.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be out on November 4 for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
Nintendo Download: Pac-Man Collection, Double Dragon II: The Revenge, Soccer, more

Today’s Nintendo Download selections make it a good day to be a fan of retro games.
The Wii U eShop is now home to Pac-Land, Pac-Man Collection, and Soccer. I would assume the first two are in honor of Pac-Man’s addition to Super Smash Bros. 4 and Soccer is due to today’s kickoff of the World Cup. But the addition of Double Dragon II: The Revenge to the 3DS eShop is no doubt because it’s just awesome.
Also available on the 3DS eShop today is AiRace Xeno, a futuristic racer, and Van Helsing: Sniper Zx100, a game with the most self-explanatory title I’ve ever seen.
More information about all of these games can be found after the break. (more…)
Confirmed… Link is the main character in Legend of Zelda Wii U
The Internet was in a bit of a tizzy yesterday when Legend of Zelda Wii U Producer Eiji Aonuma hinted that the arrow-wielding warrior in the game’s teaser trailer may not be the series’ standard protagonist, Link.
However, it seems it was a a small joke that exploded out of proportion. Aonuma has now clarified matters by confirming it was indeed Link that featured in the video segment.
Actually that comment I made jokingly. It’s not that I said that it wasn’t Link. It’s that I never said that it was Link. It’s not really the same thing, but I can understand how it could be taken that way. It seems like it has kind of taken off where people are saying ‘oh it’s a female character’ and it just kind of grew. But my intent in saying that was humour. You know, you have to show Link when you create a trailer for a Zelda announcement.
Given how much flack Ubisoft is currently taking for its sexist attitude towards a playable female character in Assassin’s Creed: Unity, and how much of a buzz there was that the new character may be Link and Zelda’s daughter, Nintendo could certainly do worse than play with the idea of a female lead for a future installment. However, Aonuma deftly side-stepped the issue with an explanation as to what Link represents.
I don’t want people to get hung up on the way Link looks, because ultimately Link represents the player in the game. I don’t want to define him so much that it becomes limiting to the players. I want players to focus on other parts of the trailer and not specifically on the character because the character Link represents, again, the player.
Well said.

Is Link the hero of The Legend of Zelda Wii U?
When Nintendo finally revealed the latest iteration of The Legend of Zelda franchise for the Wii U, many were focused on the open world aspects described by Producer Eiji Aonuma, or the cel-shaded graphics that the art team has settled upon. However, it seems that while the audience lapped up the brief battle between the game’s hero and the laser-wielding tentacle monster, they may have missed the obvious…
The hero may not be Link.
This is straight from Aonuma, who was quoted as saying, “No one explicitly said that that was Link.” Now, no one said it wasn’t either, but his big tease would indicate that Nintendo is taking a massive step away from the core formula of the series.
A key indicator seems to be the sky blue tunic worn by “Link” in the trailer, a departure from the game’s characteristic green uniform. In fact, it is remarkably similar to the clothes worn by young cel-shaded Link in The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker; could the two games share a continuity of some kind?
Another, more fantastical theory is that the hero is the son, or daughter, of Link and Zelda. This would certainly push the franchise into fresh, new territory, both in terms of history and storyline. What do you think, readers? Is Aonuma just teasing, or does Nintendo plan to expand their hero roster in the Zelda-verse?

Super Smash Bros. 4 adds Miis, Pac-Man, Mr. Game & Watch
Picture it. The playground. You’re 10 years old. Someone has just said that Nintendo is working on a game that lets Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac-Man fight it out for video game glory. Well, the dream has become reality as Nintendo has confirmed that Pac-Man will be included in the 3DS and Wii U versions of Super Smash Bros. 4. Mr. Game & Watch, a stick figure-like character that served as the mascot for Nintendo’s early handhelds, has also been confirmed to be included in the game.
But wait, there’s more. GameSpot is reporting that Nintendo will also include Miis in the final fighting roster:
You can assign your Mii to one of three different fighting styles: brawlers rely on their fists and fight empty-handed, swordfighters specialize in weaponry, while gunners focus on projectile attacks. Each style has 12 different special moves to choose from, and players will be able to select four different abilities for their fighter. This gives Super Smash Bros. a light customization feel when it comes to playing with a Mii. I say light, however, because you won’t be able to mix and match abilities from different styles. So if you wanted to make your Mii into a gun-wielding martial arts expert, for example, you’re out of luck when it comes to Super Smash Bros.
It’s like Christmas! And that’s probably when we’ll finally get the chance to play Super Smash Bros. 4 on the Wii U as Nintendo is still saying that it will be released during the “holiday season.” The 3DS version of the game will be available on October 3.
