Sonic: Lost World gameplay trailer rushes its way online
IGN has posted the first trailer for Sonic: Lost World, the Nintendo-exclusive next entry in the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
The trailer introduces “The Deadly Six,” a monstrous group of… well, monsters… that have begun to threaten Sonic’s animal friends. Naturally, the blue speedster has strapped on his red sneakers and is going to do his best to defend them. The video also reveals a few glimpses of gameplay footage, and Sonic: Lost World appears to be a mix of behind-the-back play and side-scrolling sections.
Sonic: Lost World is looking pretty good so far, and it will be available for the 3DS and Wii U later this year.

Zumba Fitness World Party coming to Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, Wii
It’s the news you’ve been waiting for… a Zumba game has been announced for the Xbox One! Majesco has announced that Zumba Fitness World Party is in development for Microsoft’s next-generation console. it will be available “later this year.”
Zumba Fitness World Party is also in the works for release on the Wii, Wii U, and Xbox 360 and is scheduled for an October release.
Majesco has provided us with more information about Zumba Fitness World Party than you could ever ask for, which you can find after the break. They also promised that we’ll learn even more about the game at E3 2013. So mark your calendar. (more…)
TT Games adds Venom, Human Torch to Lego Marvel Super Heroes
When WB Games first announced Lego Marvel Super Heroes, they confirmed that the game would include over 100 playable characters. So far, that list includes big names like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Wolverine, Captain America, The Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, and Deadpool. But two more were added to the game’s roster this weekend at the London MCM Expo.
According to a tweet from TT Games’ Joe Moore, Venom and the Human Torch will both be playable in Lego Marvel Super Heroes. With (at least) 88 more names to come, we can probably expect more of these announcements between now and the game’s release this fall on the 3DS, DS, PC, PS3, Vita, Wii U, and Xbox 360.
I’m holding out hope for Lego Blade myself.
Microsoft executive believes the public will buy ONE BILLION next-gen consoles
Yusuf Mehdi has big dreams. Mehdi, who is Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of the Interactive Division, believes that there’s still plenty of life left in the Xbox 360 and he thinks the system can sell 25 million more consoles over the next five years for a total just north of 100 million. Mehdi laid out his plan to OXM UK, and while it’s ambitious, it sounds like Microsoft wants the Xbox 360 and Xbox One to coexist, at least for a little while:
“We believe over the next five years we can break a 100 million unit installed base. That’s something we’re shooting for, it’s not a financial plan as such, it’s just rough numbers if you will. To sell another 25 million, half of those will probably come from replacements, but half will come from new buyers.”
But that’s just phase one of Medhi’s plan for world domination. He also believes that when the sales of every eighth generation platform (that’s the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Wii U) are added together, they will total over a billion consoles sold during their lifetime:
“Most industry experts think the next generation will get upwards of about 400 million units. That’s if it’s a game console, over the next decade. We think you can go broader than a game console, that’s our aim, and you can go from 400 million to potentially upwards of a billion units.”
Collectively, the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii have managed to sell about 260 million consoles since November 2005, so this would be quite a growth spurt for the industry.
E3 2013: The Roadmap To Victory for Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony
Even with the rise of PAX Prime, PAX East, the San Diego Comic-Con, and Gamescom, the annual E3 Expo is still the game industry’s premiere showcase for “what’s next.” And every year, half the fun of the festivities is picking apart the press conferences from Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony and declaring a winner.
I admit, picking press conference winners is more than a little silly. But the three companies are locked in a vicious three-way battle for your video game dollar. Even as the total market has expanded, the opportunities for any individual company have shrunk. So anytime one can wrest control of the headlines away from the other two is a victory. Nintendo Download: Trio of Kirby games, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, more
Donkey Kong Country Returns makes the jump to the 3DS tomorrow as, not surprisingly, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. It’ll be available in stores and on the 3DS eShop.
But the true star of this week’s Nintendo Download is Kirby. The pink puffball stars in three new games added to the Wii U Virtual Console today: Kirby’s Dream Land 3, Kirby’s Dream Course, and Kirby Super Star. Regularly priced at $7.99 each, if you buy any two of the games before May 30, you’ll get the third free.
Let’s see… also available this week is the 3DS rhythm game Groove Heaven and Naruto: Powerful Shippuden, a side-scrolling brawler based on the popular anime.

Pre-order bonuses for Watch Dogs announced
Watch Dogs will be available on November 19 for the PC, PS3, Wii U, and Xbox 360 with a PS4 version scheduled for release at the system’s launch. The game is also coming to the Xbox 720/Durango, but Ubisoft continues to stubbornly refer to it as “other next generation consoles” in their press releases. Clearly, you have plenty of options to purchase Watch Dogs this Fall.
To complicate your choice a little bit more, Ubisoft announced a pair of retailer-exclusive pre-order bonuses for Watch Dogs today:
GameStop – Palace Pack: The Palace Pack includes a single player mission, an investigation bonus, and ATM hack boost. The investigation bonus will unlock exclusive investigation opportunities inside of the network and the ATM hack boost will increase cash rewards when hacking into bank accounts. In addition to the single player Palace Pack mission, players who pre-order the game will receive an exclusive poster designed by famed comic-book artist, Alex Ross – while supplies last.
Amazon.com – Signature Shot Pack: The Signature Shot Pack comes with an exclusive single player mission that once completed, unlocks both a unique Biometric Assault Rifle and the Black Viceroy’s Outfit. The biometrics weapon has been smuggled into Chicago for the captain of the Black Viceroy’s gang. The weapon only works for the first person to imprint their palm on the handle. Players will need to breach a stronghold, steal the package and be the first to imprint the weapon and get out of The Wards alive.
Batman and The Joker might get new voice actors in Batman: Arkham Origins
Uh oh. There might be trouble brewing in Gotham City.
Just a day after Kevin Conroy told the world that he’ll provide the voice of Batman in Batman: Arkham Origins, Joystiq is reporting that WB Montreal has actually given the coveted role to Roger Craig Smith (who voiced Ezio Auditore in Assassin’s Creed II).
They’ve also confirmed that Mark Hamill won’t be reprising his role as The Joker and Troy Baker (Booker from BioShock Infinte and Joel from the upcoming The Last of Us) will step into the floppy shoes of the Clown Prince of Crime. Richard Epcar voiced The Joker in April’s Injustice: Gods Among Us.
So who to believe? It’s probably important to note that Conroy never said that he’s working on Batman: Arkham Origins, referring to it as “the next Arkham game.” Is it possible he was talking about the handheld spinoff, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate? Or maybe Origins, as a prequel story, is told in flashback. This would allow Conroy to voice the character in the present day and allow Smith to bellow “I am the night!” during gameplay.
Hopefully we’ll find out who’s really under the cowl soon.
UPDATE: The PA Report has confirmed with the developers that Roger Craig Smith will voice Batman and Troy Baker is in as The Joker. So what was Conroy talking about at the Dallas Comic Con?
