Wii U launch lineup will include at least 17 games

Nintendo’s E3 Hub is an interesting place. In addition to hosting screenshots and video for most of the Wii U’s announced titles, the site also includes an early glimpse at the console’s launch lineup, which currently numbers 17.
There’s even a pair of previously unannounced games:
- Project P-100, a Nintendo-published superhero game from Platinum Games!
- Game & Wario, a WarioWare-like experience for the Wii U.
Nintendo has split the Wii U’s launch lineup into “Launch” titles, “Launch Window” titles, and “Holiday 2012” titles. Hit the jump to see which game landed where and which games will make it out in 2013. (more…)

Agni’s Philosophy gives a glimpse at what Square Enix can do on next-gen systems
Agni’s Philosophy is not a game. Instead, it’s a mini-movie, produced by Square Enix, depicting what is possible on next-generation consoles and PCs. Like the Final Fantasy VII technical demo they created to showcase the PS3’s processing power, Agni’s Philosophy was designed to give gamers their first taste of the Luminous Engine, Square Enix’s multiplatform game creation tool.
Agni’s Philosophy includes many of the hallmarks of the Final Fantasy series inclduing a plucky young protagonist, Summons, crystals, and an ancient order that protects them. New to the series is an almost post-apocalyptic look to the world including modern trucks and terrorists wielding AK-47s.
There’s little chance that Agni’s Philosophy will enter full production for the PS4, Xbox 720 or Wii U (in fact, Square Enix’s history with tech demos almost assures it won’t), but it’s also a stunning piece of video with some nifty smoke, fire, and water effects.
New Super Mario Bros. U trailer features colorful Yoshis and GIANT LAND
Some kind of squirrel acorn (which turns Mario into a flying squirrel) and multiple multi-colored Yoshis highlight the New Super Mario Bros. U E3 trailer. If a pink Yoshi eats a Koopa Troopa, it can turn into a balloon while a blue Yoshi gives Mario and pals the ability to shoot bubbles. Yellow Yoshis shine brightly like a flashlight.
But the highlight of the trailer isn’t the wingsuit or the Yoshis, it’s the return of Giant Land from Super Mario Bros. 3. Welcome back old friend, I’ve missed you.

Nintendo @ E3 12: Nintendo Land will make people believe in Wii U

Reggie Fils-Aime believes that that the way Wii Sports made people understand the Wii is similar to the way people will understand the power of the Wii U GamePad’s touchscreen with Nintendo Land.
Visiting a virtual theme park, your Mii will visit 12 different worlds based on classic Nintendo franchises including The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, Luigi’s Mansion, Donkey Kong, and Takamaru’s Ninja Castle (which involves throwing ninja stars at birds).
If Nintendo is hoping to lure new gamers in with Nintendo Land, it’ll likely be a launch title.

Nintendo @ E3 12: ZombiU lurches onto the Wii U

Ubisoft has revealed a new zombie game for the Wii U titled, wait for it, ZombiU. Groan at the pun. Or should it be moan?
Players will battle zombies using the Wii U GamePad to access a sonar tool, your inventory, a scanning tool, a sniper rifle. Shaking the Wii U GamePad will push away a zombie and tapping the touchscreen at the right moment can hack a door or security system.
Using the Wii U’s camera, you can also put yourself in the game as a zombie. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime had great fun with it.
Nintendo @ E3 12: Mass Effect 3 coming to Wii U

A short sizzle reel of third-party Wii U games revealed that BioWare is hard at work on Mass Effect 3 for the next-gen system. A few other games in the reel were featured last year:
- Darksiders II
- Ninja Gaiden 3
- Aliens: Colonial Marines
- Tekken Tag Tournament 2
- Lego City: Undercover
But a few more (like Mass Effect 3) are brand new:
- Sing
- Trine 2: Director’s Cut
- Tank! Tank! Tank! (from Namco Bandai)
Ubisoft received their own mini-showcase at Nintendo’s Press Conference, which allowed them to show off a ton of titles:
- Assassin’s Creed III
- Rabbids Land
- Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013
- Rayman Legends
- Sports Connection
- Avengers: Battle For Earth
- Just Dance 4
- ZombieU
No release dates for any of these titles were announced.

Nintendo @ E3 12: Wii Fit U unsurprisingly announced

Reggie Fils-Aime is back on stage and he’s announced Wii Fit U. A megaton surprise right?
The new Wii Fit will include, according to Reggie, “new actions that leave you happier, livlier, and sweatier.” These include a super trampoline, some kind of mud cannon game, and bobsledding. The game also includes mini workouts that can be played solely on the Wii U GamePad.
Finally, a FitMeter (basically, a Nintendo-powered pedometer) can add your off-game exercises to your Wii U profile.
Nintendo @ E3 12: Scribblenauts Unlimited announced for Wii U

WB Games wasn’t finished with their presentation, announcing Scribblenauts Unlimited, “the definitive Scribblenauts experience”
Developed by 5th Cell, the game promises players will “explore like never before” and create any object they can think of. The game will feature high definition graphics and also includes a new multiplayer mode and “the secret behind Maxwell’s magical notebook.”
Scribblenauts Unlimited will also be available for the 3DS.
