Daily Scoop: September 7, 2011 – Over the hump!
Yay, Wednesday! Truth be told, I’m about to spend the rest of this morning – err, going into afternoon – running errands, and picking up the copy of Resistance 3 I didn’t go out and get yesterday. Bad Nicole!
Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games today is a $50 promotional credit when you buy the Xbox 360 4GB Console with Kinect. While you’re at it, don’t forget to check out their list of bonus offers, and if you’ve been really itching to get a copy of Disney’s Epic Mickey, you can get another Disney game free right now as well. Scoopity :)
No gaming shirts today, but the “Dire Brew” over at Tee Fury is tempting me mightily: (more…)

See the Dragon Quest X debut trailer and two gameplay videos

UPDATE: The trailer has been pulled from YouTube by Square Enix.
I’m still reeling from last night’s reveal that Dragon Quest X will be an “online RPG” for the Wii and Wii U. Up is down! Black is white! Cats and dogs… you get the idea.
But for those of you who missed the live stream, some enterprising YouTubers have uploaded the game’s debut trailer and a pair of gameplay demos. You can check out the trailer above and the gameplay videos after the break, but hurry, Square Enix doesn’t like it when their trailers appear on YouTube unless they put them there. (more…)

Daily Scoop: September 5, 2011 – Day of Laborin’
So, it’s an American holiday, which means I’m awake and doing laundry. Something about that doesn’t seem quite right, but hey – sometimes you just gotta wash the towels, if you know what I’m sayin’! It’s made better by this amazing Zelda Reorchestrated website Ryan Littlefield found. Zomg.
Amazon doesn’t have any daily deals today, but they do have their new weekly deals up:
- Save $10 on Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension
- Save $10 on the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops
- Save $10 on the Catherine: “Love is Over” Deluxe Edition
Ript‘s “See Transylvania First” is severely testing my willpower right now: (more…)
Dragon Quest X revealed for Wii and Wii U
The future of the Dragon Quest series has been unveiled by Square Enix and Nintendo at a special media event in Japan that just ended. The two titans of the Japanese gaming scene have taken the wraps off of Dragon Quest X while also talking about the Dragon Quest Collection, a compilation of the first three games in the series (and their Super NES remakes), which will be released for the Wii in Japan on September 15. An American release is unlikely, but we can hope.
Dragon Quest X is being described as an “online RPG” similar to Dragon Quest IX. Players will be able to team up for multiplayer adventuring, but a strong single-player game will also be included. The game is being developed internally at Square Enix with Producer duties falling to Yosuke Saito (Drakengard, Nier).
Even with the “online” tag, the game looks to be a traditional entry in the Dragon Quest series with job classes, Slimes and turn-based battles. It also has a cel-shaded look that is very reminiscent of Dragon Quest VIII.
Best of all, Dragon Quest X will be available for the Wii and the Wii U. Yes, you read that right. The Wii U version will include enhanced graphics and cross-console play with the Wii version. The Wii version is currently scheduled for a 2012 release in Japan while the Wii U version is “TBA.” Hopefully they make it to America as well.

- Those wacky guys at NIS America return to the wacky world of Disgaea in Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten (PS3)
- Sega’s non-conventional Kinect title Rise of Nightmares slices and dices store shelves.
- And finally, THQ twists the Warhammer license into an action shooter with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine (PC, PS3, Xbox 360).

Launch trailer for Driver: San Francisco has more awesome chase scenes
My prayers to the French cinematic god Luc Besson have been answered. OK… maybe they haven’t, but Ubisoft is still happy to appease my desperate need to be The Transporter. Driver: San Francisco is out today in the UK! We here in the states still have to wait a few days, sadly. Check out this pulse-pounding launch trailer to see if you want to get in on the action.
