BioShock Infinite DLC, Clash in the Clouds, available today

bioshockinfinitelogo

As promised, 2K and Irrational Games have announced the first details of BioShock Infinite‘s downloadable content schedule. Actually, the first DLC expansion, “Clash in the Clouds,” is available today. That’s a nice surprise.

BioShock Infinite: Clash in the Clouds is a set of wave-based maps that “presents players with a series of unique, intense challenges and a whole new gambit of combat opportunities.” Players will be able to access four new areas in Clash in the Clouds and if they complete all 60 Blue Ribbon Challenges, they’ll be able to view a batch of new new Voxophones, Kinetoscopes, and concept art in the Columbian Archeological Society. BioShock Infinite: Clash in the Clouds can be downloaded now for $4.99 (or 400 Microsoft Points).

But Clash in the Clouds is just an appetizer before BioShock Infinite’s downloadable main course. “Burial at Sea” is a noir-like two-part expansion to the game that will bring Booker and Elizabeth to the underwater city of Rapture before its fall. Priced at $14.99 apiece, both parts of Burial at Sea are currently without release dates.

If you’re looking to save a little money, all of BioShock Infinite’s DLC can be yours as part of the game’s Season Pass, which is still available for $19.99, a significant discount over buying each piece individually.

You can find the first trailers for Clash in the Clouds and Burial at Sea after the break. (more…)

NBA 2K14 soundtrack handpicked by Lebron James… listen to it now!

nba2k14-boxIn a first, cover athlete Lebron James has been tapped by 2K Sports to select the songs that will appear on NBA 2K14‘s soundtrack. The soundtrack to last year’s game, NBA 2K13, was handpicked by Jay-Z, that title’s honorary “Executive Producer.” The world’s most famous sports agent also raps occasionally, and James has included Jay-Z’s “The Ruler’s Back” amongst this year’s selections.

“2K is letting me take control of some important elements in NBA 2K14, including this year’s soundtrack,” James said. “I love that I’m the first NBA 2K cover athlete to choose the soundtrack.”

So what other songs did King James choose? You can listen for yourself at Spotify or you can check out the complete soundtrack listing after the break. Actually, feel free to do both. (more…)

XBLA Today: Zeno Clash II, Mars: War Logs

xbla-logo

Microsoft skipped their usual Xbox Live Arcade update on Wednesday this week. But they’ve decided to make up for it with two new additions in a special Friday update. First up is Zeno Clash II, a first person brawler from Atlus and ACE Team:

Ghat’s story is far from over: Zeno Clash II picks up where the deliciously brazen first game left off. After 4 years of waiting, the sequel to ACE Team’s surreal first-person brawler brings more variety in combat and levels, stunning upgraded visuals, and even more bizarre storytelling into the beguiling stonepunk world of Zenozoik.

Zeno Clash II welcomes new players to the Zeno Clash universe with a new game that will introduce them to the world and fill them in on the backstory. Returning players will delight in the connections between the Ghat’s and Rimat’s new quest and their past adventures. All players will thoroughly enjoy playing a first-person brawler that provides a rarity in modern gaming: a truly unique experience.

And then there’s Mars: War Logs, a “cyberpunk action RPG” developed by Spiders:

An intense cyberpunk RPG on the red planet! Mars War Logs takes you to Mars, nearly a century after the cataclysm that threw the planet and its colonists into chaos. Water has become the most precious resource on the arid red planet, with a few companies fighting a perpetual war for its control. In the middle of this struggle, play as Roy, a renegade with multiple talents who finds himself dragged in an epic story where every choice counts.

Develop your character and your combat style by choosing among many skills and perks: melee, ranged combat, stealth, or the devastating Technomants powers. Craft armors and weapons, recruit companions to help you in your quest, and plunge in a thrilling adventure offering a huge variety of quests. In dynamic, real-time combat, face formidable opponents and the most fearsome creatures of Mars. The fate of all colonies of Mars now lies in your hands…

Both games have been priced at 1200 Microsoft Points ($15).

Deadpool Review: SUCK IT WOLVERINE!!

deadpool-header

Deadpool is the Marvel equivalent of Marmite; you either love him or you hate him. But how is the character’s transition from comic to video game? (more…)

Saints Row IV Season Pass announced as game goes gold

saintsrowthirddominatrixAfter escaping THQ’s collapse relatively unscathed, Volition is proud to announce that development work on Saints Row IV is done. In industry terms, the game has “gone gold” (insert your own scatological joke here).

To celebrate, Volition has announced that gamers are now able to pre-order the (rather affordable) Season Pass that will be released with it. The Saints Row IV Season Pass will be sold for $9.99 and will entitle the owner to two downloadable expansions and an exclusive weapon, The Rectifier anal probe (again, insert your own scatological joke here).

The first expansion is scheduled to be the previously announced Director’s Cut of the “Enter the Dominatrix” scenario. It should be available sometime in the Fall and a second expansion will follow in “late 2013.” Saints Row IV will be released on August 20.
