Halo 4: Castle Map Pack Review: Getcha Motor Runnin’

What better way to mark the last Halo 4 map pack than to go big? The Castle Map Pack does just that by providing big maps filled with a big selection of those oh so sweet vehicles that are not only deadly fun to use, but even more fun to blow the heck up. Whereas the previous DLC, Majestic Map Pack, featured small maps for intense close quarters fighting, Castle marks the return of large maps and epic vehicle battles. If you like your fights big and your vehicles plenty, then this map pack is for you. (more…)
XBLA Today: Twisted Pixel Games Bundle
Microsoft is getting into the Xbox Live Arcade bundle business and added the Twisted Pixel Games Bundle to their download service today.
The Twisted Pixel Games Bundle includes all four of the developer’s previously released XBLA games: The Maw, Splosion Man, Ms. Splosion Man, and Comic Jumper. Best of all, it’s available for the low, low price of 800 Microsoft Points ($10). If purchased separately, you’d need $45 to buy all four games. So the Bundle is a pretty great deal.
We reviewed Ms. Splosion Man when it was released back in 2011, so be sure to check it out if you’re interested in the bundle. Twisted Pixel’s next XBLA game, LocoCycle, will be released sometime this year.

Dark Souls II gets a second trailer
From Software and Namco Bandai have released a new trailer for Dark Souls II, its second since the title was announced at the Spike TV Video Game Awards back in December.
This trailer includes some gameplay footage (sort of), and you can get a general idea on how the game is going to look during gameplay. It also doesn’t give anything away about what you’re going to be doing while playing the game. But, we’re sure that it’s going to get you excited, as it did us.
Dark Souls II is set for a 2014 release on the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon out-Rambos Rambo on April 30
Not only does Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon out-Rambo Rambo, but it makes The Terminator look like a wuss and shows Duke Nukem how **** got done in the 80s. After being the latest “worst-kept secret in gaming” for a few weeks, Ubisoft has officially announced their glorious combination of 80s cheese and modern-day game design.
Using the Far Cry 3 engine (and little else from its predecessor), Ubisoft has crafted a standalone downloadable title that stars Michael “Kyle Reese/Hicks” Biehn as Sergeant Rex Power Colt. Colt is a “Cyber Commando” who is part-man, part-machine, and all sorts of pissed off that one of his Cyber-Commando comrades has gone rogue. Taking its cues from the long-gone “VHS Era,” Blood Dragon puts an army of laser-spewing lizards and angry robots between Colt and his quarry.
I don’t know if your PC, PS3, or Xbox 360 can contain the pure righteousness that is Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, but those platforms will give it their best shot on April 30 (PSN) or May 1 (PC, XBLA).

Cloudberry Kingdom Interview: Pwnee Studios’ TJ Lutz on Wii U and the Art of the Platformer

Today, Ubisoft announced that it’ll distribute Pwnee Studios’ ridiculously hard platformer, Cloudberry Kingdom. The game will be available on the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, Steam, and Wii U eShop this Summer.
Less than five months old, the Nintendo Wii U eShop is thriving and it is already home to a variety of interesting titles. In the first of a series of interviews looking at indie game development on the platform, TJ Lutz, Vice President of Pwnee Studios, answered some questions about their upcoming 2D platformer. (more…)

Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice, Arian Foster, Adrian Peterson advance in Madden 25 Cover Vote
Down goes Deion! Down goes Deion!
The man with 47 nicknames has been bounced from the Madden NFL 25 Cover Vote by Jerry Rice, the greatest wide receiver of all time. I guess if you’re going to lose, there’s no shame in losing to someone like Jerry Rice (who, if you recall, had to earn his spot in the Cover Vote). The remainder of the quarterfinals included a Barry Sanders win over Joe Montana and victories by Arian Foster (over Russell Wilson) and Adrian Peterson (over Robert Griffin III).
So the final “Old School” matchup features Jerry Rice (#1) vs Barry Sanders (#3) and the final “New School” matchup will be Adrian Peterson (#2) vs Arian Foster (#4). Be sure to get your votes for the semifinals in today at ESPN.com/MaddenVote. Voting is open now through April 17.
Madden NFL 25 will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on August 27.

Gears of War: Judgment Review: The Verdict is Fun

Gamers can be fickle and are often quick to judge a game by its cover, so let’s get this out of the way. Yes, Gears of War: Judgment is Microsoft and Epic’s way of squeezing in one more iteration of the phenomenally successful franchise before the next generation Xbox is released. Yes, it does have an “expansion pack” feel to it at times. But most importantly, yes, it’s damn fun – in fact, it’s probably the most fun of the series. (more…)
