We’ve got two new additions to the Xbox Live Arcade today. First up is the Suda 51-produced platformer, Black Knight Sword:

From the twisted and brilliant mind of Suda 51 comes Black Knight Sword, a platforming adventure with an unprecedented visual style. In this fresh take on the classic fairy tale, The Black Knight treks through a dark and mysterious world filled with whimsical creatures to kill the dark princess and ending her reign of terror. A throwback to classic platformers, Black Knight Sword evokes simple yet addictive and challenging gameplay with an overall aesthetic unlike anything released to date.

Also available this week is the braining training game American Mensa Academy:

Get ready to stretch your grey matter as you put yourself through more than 100 interesting and challenging puzzles designed to stretch and train your brain in key areas including logic, language, visual and more. Mensa Academy is the only brain training game backed by Mensa, the high IQ society, so for the first time you’ll be able to put all that practice into action by taking on real Mensa-style questions, like the ones you see in the Mensa IQ tests. What will your Mensa Academy score be?

Both games have been priced at 800 Microsoft Points ($10) apiece.

Telltale’s episodic adventure game based on The Walking Dead has finally been collected and compiled for a disc-based release and it’ll be available in stores this week for the PS3 and Xbox 360. That’s it for this week’s new releases and that’s likely it for 2012 as well.

Spike TV VGAs: “You have no idea what you’re up against” in Gears of War: Judgment trailer

Epic Games handed off the Gears of War series to their friends at People Can Fly last year and the Polish development team has been hard at work on Gears of War: Judgment ever since. After making its debut at this year’s E3 Expo, we got another look at the game during last night’s Spike TV Video Game Awards.

You can check out the ugly “Grub” in the trailer above and be sure to add Gears of War: Judgment’s March 19, 2013 release date to your calendar.

Spike TV VGAs: I cannot tell a lie, this is the first Assassin’s Creed III King George trailer

One of the first things you learn in school is that George Washington was a great man, a great general, and a great President. But what if he wasn’t? That’s the hook behind the Assassin’s Creed III DLC episodes destined for release sometime in the near future.

Ubisoft gave the world its first look at “The Tyranny of King Washington” during last night’s Spike TV Video Game Awards and, in this alternate reality, it looks like Mr. Cherry Tree gets his chance to be very, very bad.

Spike TV VGAs: Dark Souls II is back to kill you

This world premiere was brought to you by Jessica Alba, who was as sexy as ever. As soon as I saw the first few moments, I said, “Oh god, oh god, is this another Dark Souls game?” The first words… as a knight is walking across a barren land… are, “You are the undead, forever without hope, forever without light.”

The knight reaches a cave and sees the giant skeleton of a dragon. A group of frightening humanoids with masks. Then the same knight is filled with arrows. Hopefully, this is the start of a badass fight with a dragon but, knowing From Software, is more like you getting killed in the tutorial. Yes, it’s Dark Souls II… and it’s coming for you.

Dark Souls II is in development for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. No release date has been announced.

Spike TV VGAs: The Phantom Pain trailer asks a lot of questions

Moby Dick Studio’s The Phantom Pain definitely had a strange world premiere at this year’s Spike TV Video Game Awards. A soldier wakes up from a coma in a hospital, and he’s got a hook hand and is in pretty bad shape. But suddenly, the hospital is attacked, and soldiers in full uniform start killing off the patients in the hospital as the building burns around them. Questions flicker across the screen – “Why am I here?” and “Have I gone to hell” and “Why do they want me?”

Suddenly, one important message flickers: “Open your eyes.” A man on fire appears to change into a beast, and a great beast overtakes a helicopter. There was definitely a lot of strange stuff going on, and I’m still not sure what the game was about (though rumors are swirling that it’s somehow related to Metal Gear Solid 5). Whatever it is, it looks badass.
