Sega sets an October 12 release date for Guardian Heroes

Radiant Silvergun isn’t the only one of Treasure’s treasures that’ll be arriving on the Xbox Live Arcade soon. Sega has announced that Guardian Heroes, the developer’s awesome beat ’em up (originally released for the Saturn) will be available to download from the XBLA on October 12.

Priced at 800 Microsoft Points ($10), Sega promises that Guardian Heroes “isn’t just about beating up bad guys, with a storyline full of twists and turns players will enjoy one of five completely unique boss fights, as well as more than half a dozen possible endings.”

To prove it, they’ve released a new gameplay trailer, which you can see above.

Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition Review: Fighting Like It’s 1999

If you are a casual fan of fighting games, it would be understandable if you saw the jump from Street Fighter II to Street Fighter IV as a little confusing. After all, while Street Fighter II is considered one of gaming’s most important jewels, Street Fighter III seemed to be something of a ghost. Releasing after the peak of fighting game mania, SFIII only saw a console release on Sega’s ill-fated Dreamcast, severely limiting the audience compared to, say, the PlayStation or the PlayStation 2. However, thanks to Xbox Live Arcade, Street Fighter III is getting a chance to appeal to a brand new audience. Dubbed Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition, this release is designed to finally bridge the SFII and SFIV gap for the people who barely knew the third game existed. (more…)

Find Makarov sequel premieres at Call of Duty XP

Activision’s two-day Call of Duty event, Call of Duty XP, is just about coming to a close in Los Angeles. During the two-day festival celebrating COD, the publisher unveiled a sequel to the awesome Find Makarov fan film.

Find Makarov: Operation Kingfish was created by We Can Pretend, the same production team behind the first fan film. Although, now that they have Activision’s blessing, it’s not really a fan film anymore, is it? Three other companies assisted on the Soap-centered tale: Meteoric, The Junction VFX, and Stealing Time.

You can check it out above and hopefully we’ll get more of these videos as part of Activision’s new Call of Duty Elite TV initiative.

Get CoD Modern Warfare 3-branded stuff this fall including an Xbox 360, Jeep, Mountain Dew

Sure, you’re planning to pick up Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 this November. But do you plan to make your life revolve around the shooter franchise? Well, Activision is hoping that you do.

First up, they’ve got a special Modern Warfare 3-themed Xbox 360 system. The system will be priced at $399.99 and include a 320GB hard drive, two controllers, a Bluetooth headset, special startup and shutdown sounds and a copy of the game. The controller and the headset will both be available separately as well.

So you’ve got the game and you’ve got the system, but how do you plan to get to the store? Jeep is hoping you drive there in a 2012 Call of Duty Special Edition Wrangler. The custom four-wheeler was designed with input from Modern Warfare 3 developers. The development team also helped out with the creation of the new Mountain Dew Game Fuel Tropical flavor. Finally, every package of Doritos you purchase in October will include an offer for Double XP in Modern Warfare 3.

All of these products will be available after the game’s November 8th launch. But I gotta wonder, where’s the Call of Duty-branded guns?
