New Battlefield 3 gameplay trailer takes us through a bad part of town
EA and DICE released a new trailer with some nice gameplay from the upcoming Battlefield 3.
Some of this appears to be the snippets we saw from the premiere gameplay trailer, but in longer, uninterrupted segments. Seeing the Frostbite 2.0 engine in motion for a longer duration is actually kind of breathtaking. DICE has always made great-looking games but this propels them to the top of technical studios if you ask me. Granted, this is the PC version as seen by some of the control hints, but I’m sure the console versions won’t be too far off.
Battlefield 3 will release for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 Fall 2011. The second part to the “Fault Line” trailer will be revealed March 16.

Microsoft goes green, begins recycling Gamertags
Al Gore would be so proud.
Microsoft (via Major Nelson‘s blog) has announced that they have begun the process of reclaiming long abandoned Xbox Live Gamertags. These usernames will then be recycled and offered up to the community for new subscribers and name changes.
The Major (who styles himself a bit of a necromancer in the blog post) said that additional “zombie Gamertags” will be resurrected everyday. So if there’s a Gamertag you’ve always wanted, check the “Change Gamertag” section under the Xbox Channel on your console now.
Watch the Catherine announcement trailer
How’s your morning going? Good? Still a little tired? Well, after you watch Atlus’ North American announcement trailer for Catherine, you’ll never sleep again. If the rather disturbing imagery didn’t scare you away, you’ll be glad to know that Catherine is scheduled to ship sometime this Summer on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
As for me, I’ll be hiding from the sheepmen.
Ms. Splosion Man gameplay footage is off the charts
It seems like just yesterday Splosion Man was blowing up on XBLA, but Twisted Pixel clearly wasted no time crafting an equally explosive sequel with Ms. Splosion Man. Above you can see the lady herself doing what she does best, all the while saying catchy phrases like “word up.” The video above was released during GDC, hopefully we’ll have some more information come PAX East.
Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars Hands-On Preview: I Have a Familiar Feeling About This

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost five years since the release of Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. After LucasArts and developer TT Games retold both trilogies in Lego form, most gamers assumed that the Star Wars story was over. But after forays in Gotham City and Hogwarts, TT Games is back with a third Lego Star Wars game, this time based on “The Clone Wars” cartoon. (more…)

Burger Time HD likely incoming for consoles and PC
An ESRB rating of E for Everyone popped up for Burger Time HD, with PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, and PC as listed platforms. Good luck with the whole HD thing on Wii, unless Michael Pachter is finally getting his wish. The game has received many iterations over the years, but many will remember it as an NES classic, a kind of Donkey Kong for Epicureans.
Skullgirls tearing up PS3 and Xbox 360 this summer
If you’re a self-proclaimed “geeka” down with The Mary Sue site Senior Editor Nicole Kline mentioned in today’s Daily Scoop (or just a fan of arcade titles), you might want to keep an eye out on a new PSN/XBLA downloadable game. Autumn Games and Reverge Labs today announced Skullgirls, a 2D fighter with a brilliant comic-esque, “Dark Deco” art style. Players choose from eight deadly chicks to take on a series of opponents in order to claim the Skull Heart and become known as the Skullgirl (misleading title, there can be only one!). With contributions by comic artist Alex Ahad and tournament champion Mike Z Zaimont, the game has a variety of single and multiplayer modes, and even includes YouTube and Facebook support to allowing you to instantly upload your exploits and claim bragging rights.
The game certainly looks insane, with some great features to boot. Skullgirls will be available this summer on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and you can expect some more details soon (or you can check it out on the PAX East show floor).

Catherine is coming to America
Atlus has confirmed that Catherine, their sexually-charged adventure game for the PS3 and Xbox 360, will be released in North America this Summer.
Right now all we have to go on is a teaser website for the game located at CatherineTheGame.com. The page includes the game’s boxart (which will be unique to each platform) as well as pre-order links to Amazon, GameStop and Video Games Plus. The Amazon link actually lists a more specific release date: July 26. But I’m sure we’ll find out the official release date very soon.
