Far Cry: Primal takes the series to the Stone Age on February 23, 2016
One of the most common complaints you’ll hear from gamers nowadays is that more first person shooters should step away from the “modern warfare” setting. Ubisoft heard their cries and is using the next entry in the Far Cry franchise to get as far away from modern as you possibly can.
Far Cry: Primal will take players back to the Stone Age, forcing them to come face-to-face with long-instinct beasts like the woolly mammoth and sabertooth tiger. Taking control of Takkar, players will have to hunt these animals in order to survive and build a better life for his tribemates:
Gamers play as Takkar, a seasoned hunter and the last surviving member of his hunting group. Arriving in the majestic and savage land of Oros, players will pursue one single goal; survive in a world where humans are the prey. They will meet a cast of memorable characters who will help them push back and tame the dangers of the wild. Players will journey as the first human to tame the wilderness and rise above extinction. Along the way, they will have to hunt for food, master fire, fend off fierce predators, craft weapons and tools partly from the bones of slain beasts and face off against other tribes to conquer Oros.
Ubisoft has also announced plans to bring a demo of Far Cry: Primal to the PlayStation Experience in San Francisco this December. If you don’t think you’ll be able to make your way to Sony’s big show, Ubisoft is offering to send two people to the City by the Bay through a contest on the official Far Cry website.
Far Cry: Primal is currently in development at Ubisoft Montreal, and is is expected to be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on February 23. A behind-the-scenes video detailing some of the early design work has been embedded after the break. (more…)

Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition is deathinitely launching on October 27

The Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition was originally scheduled to be released on October 6, but you might have noticed that the game didn’t launch as planned since today’s the sixth and the game is currently absent from stores shelves. Thankfully, a new release date is just around the corner…
Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition will be released for both the PS4 and Xbox One on October 27. The remake will feature enhanced graphics, rebalanced gameplay, and all downloadable content previously released for the game.
“It’s rare that as developers we get the opportunity to revisit one of our previous games. The passage of time and the numerous games we’ve worked on since Darksiders II shipped has allowed us to return to it with a fresh perspective,” said John Pearl, a Design Director at Gunfire Games. “With that said, we went back to what is a huge game and addressed things we didn’t have time for or didn’t notice the first time. We started by revisiting every asset in the game, increasing the texture resolutions and brought the art up to spec to take full advantage of the new lighting and rendering. Darksiders II has a lot of DLC in the form of weapons, armor and unique locations. These pieces of DLC which felt separate from the main campaign have now been integrated into the game and rebalanced accordingly. Lastly, we’ve addressed much of the feedback we received after the game’s release in regards to balance and bugs. With all these changes, this is truly the ‘Definitive Edition’ of Darksiders II.”
Even with all these updates, don’t expect the Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition to break the bank. Nordic Games has confirmed the remake will be priced at $29.99 on both platforms.

Marvel Puzzle Quest will find its way onto consoles before the end of the year
Marvel and D3 Go have announced that Marvel Puzzle Quest will be released for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One before the end of the year.
Marvel Puzzle Quest is a match-3 puzzle game and it’s been available on mobile devices since 2013. While the mobile version is available as a free-to-play title, the console version will carry a $14.99 price tag. Marvel.com has promised that the console version will also include local and online multiplayer:
Players will assemble a squad of three characters with upgradable abilities, choosing from a roster of heroes and villains alike, all to combat a common enemy. With this team-based gameplay comes a new level of strategy and customization, allowing audiences to call upon specific heroes that are best suited for the job and to create an ultimate Marvel dream team as they travel across famous locations and visit familiar faces from the Marvel Universe. For the first time ever in Marvel Puzzle Quest, players will be able to put their squads to the test in both online and local multiplayer.
A trailer celebrating the announcement has been embedded above.
Roll out with this Transformers: Devastation launch trailer
The only thing that could make this Transformers: Devastation launch trailer more authentic is if it were scored with Stan Bush’s “The Touch.” But that’s OK, because we can still marvel at Optimus Prime, Bumbleebee, Grimlock, Wheeljack, and Sideswipe as they do battle with the evil Decepticons led by Megatron, Starscream, and Devastator.
Developed by Platinum Games, Transformers: Devastation rolled out to stores today on the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
Microsoft explains the features behind the Xbox Elite Controller in this video
The Xbox Elite Controller looks like a seriously complicated piece of tech. But I’d expect no less from a device that carries a $149.99 price tag.
In this new video, Microsoft’s Navin Kumar discusses the many features of the Xbox Elite Controller including the swappable sticks, and the customization options available through the Xbox Accessories app. Kumar covers a lot of crowd, but the developer seems most excited about the controller’s ability to offer unique control schemes for different weapons in first person shooters like Halo 5: Guardians or Call of Duty: Black Ops III.
Best of all, Xbox One owners will get to try out the app’s many features without having to shell out an ammount of cash equivalent to three games. Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra confirmed (via Twitter) that the Xbox Accessories app’s fancy customization options will work with all Xbox One controllers when it launches alongside this November’s Dashboard Update.
NY Comic-Con 2015 attendees will get to play Capcom’s Umbrella Corps, Street Fighter V, Resident Evil 0, Mega Man Legacy Collection

Capcom has announced that they will offer four playable demos at their New York Comic-Con booth (#1420) this weekend.
NYCC attendees will be the first folks in North America to get a chance to try out Umbrella Corps, a Resident Evil-themed team shooter that was first revealed at last month’s Tokyo Game Show. And speaking of Capcom’s undead franchise, a demo of Resident Evil 0 will also be available. Both games are scheduled to be released early next year.
If you’re looking for new announcements, look no further than Street Fighter V. Capcom will offer a playable demo of the fighting game on the show floor and the publisher is strongly hinting that Executive Producer Yoshinori Ono will reveal another new challenger over the weekend. Finally, the currently-available Mega Man Legacy Collection will also be available to try out in all its retro glory.
Capcom will also host a pair of panels this weekend including a “World of Capcom” panel on Thursday, October 8 and a Street Fighter V panel on Saturday, October 10.
More details on all four playable demos can be found after the break. (more…)

The Disney Channel loves creating song-and-dance shows for today’s tweens. In addition to having a popular television show, Disney’s musical aspirations also gives them the chance to create a ton of licensed tie-in merchandise. Just look no further than Ubisoft’s Just Dance: Disney Party 2.
Just Dance: Disney Party 2 is scheduled for an October 20 release on the Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. It’ll feature 24 songs from the Disney Channel’s lineup of shows and movies such as Descendants, Violetta, Girl Meets World, and more.

New Releases: Rock Band 4, Uncharted Collection, Transformers Devastation, More

It’s time to rock the world once more as Harmonix will release Rock Band 4 for the PS4 and Xbox One this week. In addition to the standard “Game Only” edition, the developer is also planning to replenish your stock of plastic instruments with a Rock Band 4: Guitar Bundle and a Band-In-A-Box Bundle.
Another big franchise that we’ll remember for centuries is coming back this week thanks to Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection on the PS4. Also available as part of a 500GB PS4 + Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection Bundle, the collection brings together Drake’s first three adventures and also includes an access code for the upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End beta.
And speaking of characters that have been popular for centuries, Activision and Platinum have teamed up to produce Transformers: Devastation, a cel-shaded action game based on the franchise’s “Generation 1” era. It looks gorgeous and it’ll be available for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
Finally, somebody told me that people love Nintendo’s adorable Chibi-Robo and NIS America’s Disgaea series of strategy RPGs. Fans are in luck this week, as new entries in both franchises are set to be released this week. Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash is a side-scrolling platformer for the 3DS, while Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance brings the series to the PS4 for the first time.
A complete list of this week’s new releases is available after the break. (more…)
