Rumor: Harmonix is working on Rock Band 4 for PS4/Xbox One
Bloomberg‘s Danielle Burger is reporting that “a person familiar with the plan” has revealed to her that Rock Band 4 is in development for the PS4 and Xbox One at Harmonix.
This insider chose not to divulge any additional information about the project to Burger, but even though this is all we have to go on, Rock Band’s PS4/Xbox One debut feels less like a rumor and more like an inevitability. Harmonix dropped the curtain on the franchise in 2012 with Rock Band Blitz, but they’ve always seemed interested in a reunion tour on the new-gen consoles.
In recent weeks, Harmonix has even begun releasing new DLC tracks for Blitz and Rock Band 3. A trio of songs were added to the Rock Band Music Store last month and two more, Tenacious D’s “Rize Of The Fenix” and Weezer’s “Back To The Shack,” have been available since Tuesday.
You know, both of those songs seem to hint at a rebirth of sorts, don’t they? Maybe this is Harmonix’s take on the musical tradition of backmasking.

The Evil Within: The Assignment DLC will arrive in March
Bethesda has announced that The Assignment, the first downloadable add-on for The Evil Within, will be released in March.
The publisher isn’t quite ready to give us an expansive look at the game’s first expansion, so the teaser trailer above is all we get for now. The short scene depicts someone hiding in a locker (the slats obscure most of the screen) as some creature calls out the name “Leslie” over and over again. To Wikipedia to make sense of all this!
Once again, The Evil Within: The Assignment will be available to download in March.
Xbox Store Today: Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, Hand of Fate, Blue Estate, more

A handful of new games are now available through the Xbox Games Store including Hand of Fate, an action RPG/deckbuilder hybrid that also includes roguelike elements and a little dungeon crawling. That is a lot of genres. Hand of Fate is available to download for the Xbox One.
Also new this week is Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, an enhanced re-release of the fifth game in Koei Tecmo’s fighting franchise for the Xbox One. A free-to-play “Core Fighters” edition is also available.
Finally this week there’s Blue Estate (Xbox One), a rail shooter based on Viktor Kalvachev’s comic book series, and Trivial Pursuit Live! (Xbox One, Xbox 360), a game show-like version of the iconic board game.
More information on all of these games can be found after the break. (more…)

Rumor: The Predator will join Mortal Kombat X as a guest character

We’ve known for a while now that the inevitable expansion characters for Mortal Kombat X will include “at least one guest” (and NetherRealm confirmed as much again just two weeks ago). But exactly who these guests will be has been shrouded in mystery. But perhaps it was an invisibility cloak…
VideoGamer.com is reporting that an anonymous source has revealed that the Predator will be added to Mortal Kombat X as a playable character in an upcoming DLC pack. And get this… Carl Weathers’ CIA character from the same film, Colonel Al Dillon, will be joining him. If you’re going to include a character played by Carl Weathers, I would have preferred Apollo Creed, but it’s rather interesting news all the same.
This isn’t the first time that the Predator has been linked to Mortal Kombat X. Back in July, NetherRealm’s Creative Director, Ed Boon, retweeted a fan-made picture of Scorpion squaring off against the extraterrestrial hunter. Nor is this even the first time the Predator has been included as a guest character in a popular game. Last year, the character was featured in Call of Duty: Ghosts‘ Devastation Pack.
Mortal Kombat X will be released for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on April 14. NetherRealm plans to reveal new characters right up until the game’s launch, so we might get an official Predator sighting sooner rather than later.
Microsoft bringing Halo 5, Fable Legends, Battlefield Hardline, more to PAX East 2015
Microsoft will bring more than half-a-dozen games, including many of this Fall’s most anticipated Xbox One releases, to this year’s PAX East expo.
Playable demos of Halo 5: Guardians, Fable Legends, and Battlefield Hardline will feature prominently in Microsoft’s booth (#5044) alongside smaller titles like Ori and the Blind Forest, Pneuma: Breath of Life, and Swordy. Evolve, which was released last week, and ScreamRide, which will launch a few days before the expo opens, will also be playable on the show floor. Finally, Mirosoft will host a playable demo of State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition, which will have a larger presence at the Undead Labs booth (#3092).
The 2015 PAX East expo will open its doors on Friday, March 6 and will run through Sunday, March 8. More information on all of the games that will be included in Microsoft’s booth can be found after the break (and at the Xbox Wire). (more…)

The Behemoth will have a demo of “Game 4” at PAX East 2015
The Behemoth has announced that their upcoming strategy RPG, the tentatively titled “Game 4,” will be playable on the PAX East 2015 show floor. Game 4 appears to be an amalgamation of everything that The Behemoth is known for including a hand-drawn art style, wild narration, and an even wilder sense of humor. For a better sense of what to expect, I recommend viewing this Game 4 gameplay trailer from PAX Prime 2014.
The developer will also have a huge amount of new merchandise available for purchase at their PAX East booth and you can peruse their wares before your trip to Boston by visiting their News Blog.
This year’s PAX East convention will be held at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center beginning March 6 and running through March 8.

New Releases: The Order: 1886, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Total War: Attila, More

Do you believe that a secret cabal of soldiers guards the citizenry from an encroaching force of half-human/half-beastly hybrids? And do you believe that these men and women are the only thing standing between the total collapse of society and these so-called werewolves? You do? Great! Because Ready At Dawn and Sony Santa Monica will release The Order: 1886 for the PS4 this week.
It’ll be joined on store shelves by the more colorful Kirby and the Rainbow Curse for the Wii U (no werewolves in that one) and the more vicious Total War: Attila on the PC (the strategy game from Creative Assembly stars one of the most feared warlords of the ancient world).
Finally this week, Koei Tecmo will re-release Dead or Alive 5 for the PS4 and Xbox One as Dead or Alive 5: Last Round.
