Destiny live action trailer appears ahead of next week’s launch
Bungie’s Destiny will be available on store shelves beginning next Tuesday, September 9, for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. To get fans in the right frame of mind, the developer released this pretty nifty live action trailer for the game. A fireteam embarks on a rather… let’s go with irreverent… campaign against the aliens occupying many of humanity’s former colonies all scored to Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song.”
I have to admit, the shouts of “Venus, baby!” (in the style of a 20th century frat boy screaming “Vegas, baby!”) were pretty amusing.
Buy an Xbox One system next week and get a free game
Now this is how you do a free game promotion.
Microsoft has announced that everyone who purchases an Xbox One system at “participating retailers” next week, September 7 through September 13, will receive a free game at the time of purchase. The promotion will also apply to the Forza Motorsport 5 and Madden NFL 15 bundles as well, so it’s actually possible to score two free games. But best of all, this offer is valid towards ANY Xbox One retail release. So if you’re interesting in picking up a free copy of Destiny next week with the purchase of an Xbox One console, you can.
I’ve got to admit, it’s a pretty cagey way of countering Sony’s PlayStation 4/Destiny bundle.
According to Polygon, the list of “participating retailers” includes Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, Toys R Us, and Walmart.
Mighty No. 9’s PAX Prime 2014 trailer is mega colorful
PAX Prime came to an end on Monday, but we’re still sorting through all the news to emerge from the expo and the latest Might No. 9 trailer is too good to pass up. Once again, Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune mesmerized a PAX crowd with new details of his beautiful platformer, including a look at several of the boss battles. It’s colorful, it’s polished, and it’s embedded above.
Mighty No. 9 will be available for the 3DS, PC, PS3, PS4, Vita, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One in Spring 2015.

Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will be released on Friday

Minecraft will leap onto the next-generation consoles beginning this Friday as Microsoft has confirmed that Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will be released on September 5.
If you already own Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, you’ll be able to upgrade to the Xbox One edition for just $4.99. And any previously purchased downloadable content can be accessed with the Xbox One Edition for free. If you’re new to the world of Minecraft, the game will be priced at $19.99. If neither of these options entice you, Microsoft has also said that a retail disc edition will be available sometime this Fall.
But what about Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition and Minecraft: PS Vita Edition? Mojang’s Daniel Kaplan tweeted that PlayStation players will be in for a surprise “soon… or maybe sooner.”
Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be released for consoles, PC in early 2015
Before we get the much-rumored Resident Evil 7, it looks like Capcom wants to shamble out another spinoff in the Resident Evil franchise with the announcement that Resident Evil Revelations 2 is in development. Revelations 2 is ditching its handheld roots and will be available for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One in early 2015.
Pesky details like the plot and what the game actually looks like will be announced at a later date. For now, check out the live-action teaser trailer (and it’s very scary watches) above. Capcom has promised that “hidden secrets beckon to be discovered by anyone with eyes and wits sharp enough to find them.” But that sounds like a lot of work for Labor Day…
New Releases: The Sims 4, Danganronpa 2, Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate

The Summer is over (more or less) and it’s time for the Fall gaming avalanche, but don’t expect a big batch of new releases just yet. That said, this week’s big releases include…
- The Sims 4 (PC), the latest game in EA’s super-popular people simulator franchise will be available in a Premium Edition (with extra goodies) and a standard edition (which EA is calling a Limited Edition for some reason).
- Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair (Vita), the second anime-esque murder mystery set inside a high school will be available just in time for the first day of school.
- Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate (PS4 and Xbox One), Koei Tecmo’s latest Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors gets expanded and re-released for next-gen consoles.
That’s it for now, but Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft have plans to digitally release a bunch of games to fight over your gaming dollar as well this week.

The Behemoth’s Game 4 is a strategy game… here’s the first trailer
We still don’t know what The Behemoth’s Game 4 will actually be called, but the developer has confirmed it’ll take the form of a hex-based strategy RPG. With narration by Will Stamper (he did BattleBlock Theater too) and The Behemoth’s trademark art style, it will also likely be a strategy game like no one’s ever seen before.
For proof, just check out the PAX Prime trailer above (the previously revealed spider-woman shows up at 0:19). Game 4 is in development for the PC and Xbox One and will be released… someday.
