Microsoft sets Halo: Spartan Assault for a December 24 release on Xbox One
Santa Claus is coming to town and he’s bringing presents for all the good girls and boys… including shotguns and assault rifles and rocket launchers! Microsoft has announced that Halo: Spartan Assault, their twin-stick shooter set in the Halo universe, will be released for the Xbox One on Christmas Eve, December 24.
Halo: Spartan Assault was previously released for Windows 8 PCs and devices through the Windows Store. The Xbox One edition will add a co-op mode and new weapons to the game, as well as include the “Operation Hydra” expansion. If you’ve previously purchased the Windows 8 version of Spartan Assault, you’ll be able to upgrade to the Xbox One edition for just $4.99.
If you’re interested in learning more about Halo: Spartan Assault, head over to Xbox Wire for an interview with the game’s Executive Producer, Dan Ayoub.
And if you’re an Xbox 360 owner and you’re interested in Spartan Assault, don’t worry, Microsoft plans to bring the game to the Xbox 360 in January 2014.

It’s here… it’s finally here! Peggle 2 is now available on the Xbox One Games Store courtesy of PopCap Games. The peg-smashing puzzler has been priced at $11.99 and PopCap believes that it might unleash a wave of happiness across the world:
Everything is better with Peggle! Catch Peggle fever now on Xbox One. Master over 120 new levels and trials in the sequel to one of the most addictive puzzle action games of all time. Unleash amazing magic powers as you learn from Peggle Master Bjorn, and four all-new masters like the dark and mysterious Luna, while you shoot balls at colorful, challenging boards of pegs to reach Extreme Fever. But there’s more! Unlocked costumes allow you to dress up the various masters for laughs. Four-player Peg Party mode lets you deploy your Peggle skills to the utmost against friends and family. Game DVR lets you save and share replays of your most astonishing shots, while Kinect support gives you the chance to aim and shoot with only your hands and voice. Truly, Peggle 2 is a game for our age, and indeed all ages!
Peggle 2 will be released exclusively for the Xbox One first and will make its way to additional platforms in 2014.
VGX 2013 Trailer: TitanFall

The inaugural VGX Awards closed with another look at 2014’s most anticipated game, TitanFall. Respawn Entertainment delivered a pair of trailers that showcased two previously unseen mech classes from the game.
The Ogre is a slow and awkward killing machine that will include a slew of powerful weapons. Meanwhile, the Stryder will be a fleet-footed mech that can outrun almost anything on the battlefield.
TitanFall will be released for the PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on March 11, 2014. Hit the break to view both trailers. (more…)
VGX 2013 Trailer: Tom Clancy’s The Division
Are you awake enough on this Sunday morning for a bunch of techspeak? Then I give you the “World Premiere” trailer for Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s The Division. Focusing on the power of the game’s Snowdrop Engine, the trailer goes in-depth on the game’s lighting system, shaders, particle physics, realistic damage effects, and much more.
Tom Clancy’s The Division will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One towards the end of next year.
VGX 2013 Trailer: Destiny
Earlier this week, we learned that Destiny would be making its debut on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on September 9, 2014. Yesterday, Bungie brought a “World Premiere” trailer of their next game to the 2013 VGX Awards for all to see. Naturally, the trailer is suitably epic (THE MUSIC!) and gives us a nice glimpse at what to expect for their “shared world shooter” next year.
VGX 2013 Trailer: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
“No man who meets The Hunt returns to this world.”
…And then a demon covered in spikes with a skull for a face just smiles at the camera. Your nightmares for the next two weeks have been brought to you by this “World Premiere” trailer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which has been brought to you by Keanu Reeves in 47 Ronin.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is in development at CD Projekt RED and will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One next year.
VGX 2013 Trailer: Thief
“Robes. Robes are always a bad sign.”
Garret, the star of Eidos Montreal’s Thief, doesn’t have a high opinion of cultists performing arcane rituals. And I can’t say I blame him. But you’ll definitely have a high opinion of this “World Premiere” trailer for the game, which debuted at last night’s VGX Awards.
Thief will be published by Square Enix on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on February 25, 2014. The game will also be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on the same date.
