DualShock 4 is bigger than you think (and bigger than the Xbox One controller)

ps4-xboxone-controllersidebysideThe DualShock has been Sony’s go-to controller design (with slight variations) for three generations now. The fourth DualShock, which will be packaged with the PS4 this Fall, makes a few major changes to the formula and fixes a complaint gamers have had about Sony’s controllers for almost 20 years.

Sony’s DualShock controllers have always been on the small side, but the DualShock 4 remedies that problem with a wider profile and longer handles. It acutally looks comfortable to hold for extended periods of time and, as you can see in this side-by-side photo from GameChup, is actually larger than the Xbox One controller.

As someone who spents years trying to find a third-party PS2 controller that didn’t cramp my hands, this is excellent news.

  • Muramasa Rebirth (Vita), an action RPG originally released for the Wii that’s been rebuilt for Sony’s handheld.

Daily Scoop: June 25, 2013 – Gold Box Event

Daily Scoop? More like a Weekly Scoop at this point, am I right? I’ve been trying so hard to keep up with everything, but this move has totally wiped me out. Now that it’s officially over (just need to drop the old keys off to the former landlord!), I can start getting back into some semblance of a normal life. I can start doing things like going to board game night on Tuesdays… well, except not today, because the new Borderlands 2 DLC, Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep, is out today. Woo!! I can’t wait to get home and start playing!

I’m happy to report that there’s a video game Gold Box Event happening over at Amazon right now! The Deal of the Day is the PS3 320GB Uncharted 3 Bundle for just $250, which is a great price. The rest of the deals are:

  • 12:00AM PDT/3:00AM EST: 007 Legends Wii U for $14.99
  • 6:00AM PDT/9:00AM EST: Black Ops II Hardened Edition PS3 for $59.99
  • 7:00AM PDT/10:00AM EST: LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes for $9.99
  • 10:00AM PDT/1:00PM EST: Dead Island Riptide for $24.99-47.99 (depending on edition)
  • 12:00PM PDT/3:00PM EST: “Hit this deal out of the park!” (We’re guessing MLB The Show 13)
  • 2:00PM PST/5:00PM EST: Hakuoki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi for the PSP
  • 3:00PM PST/6:00PM EST: Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
  • 5:00PM PST/8:00PM EST: Turtle Beach Ear Force PX22 headset
  • 7:00PM PST/10:00PM EST: “Bring your summer vacation gaming to a new level!” (Not sure about this one – the hints vary from too specific to too vague!)
  • 9:00PM PST/12:00AM EST: “Fight aliens” (Hopefully this one is XCOM: Enemy Unknown!)
  • I’ve got a few sweet t-shirts for you today as well:

Ready At Dawn reveals more details about The Order: 1886

    theorder1886-header

The Order: 1886 made a big splash when it debuted at Sony’s E3 2013 Press Conference. But while the cinematic trailer was absolutely epic, we were left to speculate exactly what kind of game The Order: 1886 would be. Thankfully, a PlayStation Blog EU interview with Ready At Dawn’s Ru Weerasuriya has shed some (lamp)light on the steampunk game.

PS Blog: So, exactly what kind of game is The Order: 1886?

Ru Weerasuriya: The Order is a third person action adventure with shooting mechanics. It’s very much story-based – it’s a linear story-based game. We’re trying to tell a story. It’s what we call a “filmic experience.”

The whole interview is definitely worth a read and, I can’t stress this enough, you really need to watch the trailer again.

The Rock is cooking a new trailer and boxart for WWE 2K14… come smell them

wwe2k14-boxThe Rock appeared on last night’s edition of Monday Night Raw to unveil the official box art for WWE 2K14. Naturally, “The People’s Champion” wants the first WWE game under the 2K Sports label to “electrify” the gaming world. And I’m sure an arched eyebrow followed the completion of this quote:

“I am exceptionally grateful to be chosen for the cover of WWE 2K14 and serve as the first cover Superstar under 2K’s leadership,” said The Rock. “I want the cover of WWE 2K14 to electrify the people. I want the artwork to stand out and set a new standard for all WWE video games from 2K, both today and in the future.”

In addition to the cover reveal, 2K is hosting an alternate cover contest for fans. The winning entry will appear as the reverse image on the WWE 2K14 cover and can be used in place of The Rock’s massive physique. Fans can create and submit their cover design at wwe.2K.com/covercontest.

Finally, a brand new trailer for WWE 2K14 is available after the break. Try not to shed a tear at the trailer’s focus on one of the WWE’s all-time greats: “Macho Man” Randy Savage.
