Bethesda is counting down to Fallout 4… probably

fallout4countdownIt’s real. It’s finally happening. Right? Yeah, probably. At least, we hope so. Gah!

Anyway, this morning, visitors to Bethesda’s official website were treated to the image of a Fallout-inspired test pattern and an accompanying countdown clock, which expires tomorrow at 10:00 AM (Eastern Time). Is this the Fallout 4 announcement we’ve all been waiting for? Probably, but it’s just as likely that when the clock strikes zero Bethesda will announce that the real Fallout 4 announcement will take place during their E3 2015 Press Conference, which is set for June 14.

That said, Fallout 4’s status as an in-development project has been a bit of an open secret at Bethesda for several years. Company executives will happily discuss the game and a casting call referencing locations from the series was even made available to the public in 2013.

So, yeah. It’s real and it’s finally happening.

warpback-may-header

The new release schedule was pretty empty in the month of May, thankfully the Warp Zoned staff had a hefty batch of backlog titles to work through. And the month did close out with a Splatoon-shaped bang, which has enthralled at least two members of the staff.

What did you play in May? You can find out what games we dove into after the break.

Get a closer look at Exo Zombies: Carrier before tomorrow’s CoD Advanced Warfare Supremacy Pack launch on Xbox Live

John Malkovich’s Oz is not long for this world in the opening moments of the latest Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – Exo Zombies trailer. But don’t panic! Bruce Campbell is ready to take charge in the third episode, which will be available to download for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 tomorrow as part of the game’s Supremacy Pack.

Campbell plays Captain Lennox, a member of the Sentinel Task Force. He takes captures Kahn (Bill Paxton), Lilith (Rose McGowan), and Jim (Jon Bernthal) and takes them to the Atlas “Carrier” that serves as the inspiration for the episode’s title. Once there, they meet more of the Exo Zombies and suddenly it doesn’t matter if Lennox is good or bad… he’s just a guy with a gun.

PC, PS3, and PS4 owners will be able to download the Supremacy Pack, and Exo Zombies: Carrier, at a later date.

MK4’s Tanya returns in new Mortal Kombat X gameplay trailer

If you’re a Kombat Pass owner, you’ll be able to download a new character for Mortal Kombat X this week. Tanya, an Outworld warrior who made her franchise debut in 1997’s Mortal Kombat 4, will be available to download beginning tomorrow.

NetherRealm Studios released a new gameplay trailer featuring the character to ready their fans for her appearance, and it includes one of the most ridiculous Fatalities the series has ever seen.

Beginning June 9, everyone will be able to download Tanya by herself (for $4.99) or as part of the Tanya Bundle (for $7.99), which also includes new “Klassic” costumes for Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, and Kano. If you’re only interested in “Klassic Pack 1,” it will also be sold separately for $3.99.

Seriously, check out that Fatality, it is absolutely insane.

Xbox Store Today: Massive Chalice

massivechalice-posterMicrosoft has announced that Double Fine’s Massive Chalice is now available to download for the Xbox One through the Xbox Games Store. If you’re wondering why Massive Chalice would be released on a Monday, it’s because the game will also be available as a free download all this month through Microsoft’s Games With Gold promotion. If you’re not an Xbox Live Gold subscriber, Massive Chalice can be purchased for $19.99.

A war lasting multiple centuries hangs over Massive Chalice like a shroud. As the “Immortal Ruler of the Nation,” players will arrange marriages to create heirs who will have to fight an enemy known only as “The Cadence.”

More details about this rather insane-sounding tactical strategy RPG can be found after the break.

2K’s “Advent” is actually a PC-exclusive XCOM 2 from Firaxis

2K Games has teamed up with IGN to reveal our first look at XCOM 2, a PC-exclusive sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown in development at Firaxis Games. Scheduled for release this November, XCOM 2 takes the story 20 years beyond the alien invasion of the first game. Oh yeah, and we lost…

Watch the debut trailer above for a glimpse into a future where the aliens are in control of the Earth, and XCOM has gone underground to fight to overthrow their Advent government. This new guerrilla force will face more powerful enemies in unpredictable combat scenarios as they fight to turn the tables on a technologically superior enemy.

XCOM 2 will include “new soldier classes, new aliens, stealth-infused tactics, procedurally generated maps, and more.” IGN has also promised that Creative Director Jake Solomon and Lead Producer Garth DeAngelis will sit down for an interview later this week to discuss why XCOM 2 is skipping consoles.

2K Games and IGN will get together again in two weeks to reveal the first XCOM 2 gameplay trailer during this year’s E3 Expo.
