Project CARS release fishtails its way into April

The highways and byways of the northeast are currently a mess, so it seems rather fitting that Slightly Mad Studios has announced that the release date for Project CARS has slipped once again. Previously set to get the green flag on March 17, the game will now be released for the PC on April 2 and for the PS4 and Xbox One on April 7. The Wii U edition of Project CARS still has a “TBA 2015” release date.

“Moving a release date was not an easy decision to make, as we know our fans are eager to get their hands-on on Project CARS,” said Ian Bell, the Studio Head at Slightly Mad Studios. “But we know that these extra days will allow us to provide the best game experience that our fans deserve. We assure you the wait will be worth it when the game does arrive early April.”

To keep your engine revving, Slightly Mad has teamed up distributor Bandai Namco to release a series of behind-the-scenes videos detailing the development process behind Project CARS. The first, which has been embedded above, will feature Creative Director Andy Tudor kicking the tires on the game’s Career Mode.

The Evil Within: The Assignment DLC will arrive in March

Bethesda has announced that The Assignment, the first downloadable add-on for The Evil Within, will be released in March.

The publisher isn’t quite ready to give us an expansive look at the game’s first expansion, so the teaser trailer above is all we get for now. The short scene depicts someone hiding in a locker (the slats obscure most of the screen) as some creature calls out the name “Leslie” over and over again. To Wikipedia to make sense of all this!

Once again, The Evil Within: The Assignment will be available to download in March.

Another clue points to Tom Nook, Pikmin Amiibos

posterMy wife is currently volunteering at my son’s school book fair. While setting up, she snapped a picture of one of the Nintendo posters available for sale.

Notice anything different? Animal Crossing‘s Tom Nook and Pikmin‘s, well, Pikmin, are front-and-center on this Amiibo poster. That’s quite odd, as Nintendo hasn’t made any official announcements regarding any additional Amiibo releases outside of the Super Smash Bros. and Mario Party 10 lines. Does this mean these two characters are still in the cards as future Amiibos? And does this mean they’ll be announced soon?

Now, don’t go thinking that this poster acts as of these figures. Actually, the art is the same as this GameStop poster (via Reddit) first seen back in December. But with the final design of the new Mario Party 10 Mario figure added to the mix, one can’t help but wonder why these other characters haven’t been taken out of the image. As with any Nintendo-related rumors, take this one with the ol’ grain of salt until you hear it straight from the Big N, but I like my chances of picking up Tom Nook and Pikmin Amiibo figures someday.

Daily Scoop: February 18, 2015 – Cold and about to get colder

The next few days aren’t just going to be cold in Philadelphia… they’re going to be the lowest temperatures seen in five years. I really, really don’t want to leave the house. In fact, I don’t even want to leave my bed – I just want to lay around and play Persona 3 Portable. Is that too much to ask?

Let’s heat up by talking about what games have prices that are going down! The Daily Deal at Steam is Starpoint Gemini 2, which is on sale for $17.49. Meanwhile, at the Humble Store, there are a bunch of new games on sale as well. You can get Hand of Fate for $19.99, The Escapists – Humble Deluxe Edition for $13.49, and early access to TOXIKK for $17.09.

There’s also a brand new bundle over at Indie Royale, called the Mixer 15 Bundle. Beat the average to get The Slaughtering Grounds, Three Dead Zed, Obludia, Micron, White Noise Online, Reversion – The Meeting, Final Dusk, and Why So Evil.

Finally this week there’s Blue Estate (Xbox One), a rail shooter based on Viktor Kalvachev’s comic book series, and Trivial Pursuit Live! (Xbox One, Xbox 360), a game show-like version of the iconic board game.

Rumor: The Predator will join Mortal Kombat X as a guest character

mortalkombatx-header

We’ve known for a while now that the inevitable expansion characters for Mortal Kombat X will include “at least one guest” (and NetherRealm confirmed as much again just two weeks ago). But exactly who these guests will be has been shrouded in mystery. But perhaps it was an invisibility cloak…

VideoGamer.com is reporting that an anonymous source has revealed that the Predator will be added to Mortal Kombat X as a playable character in an upcoming DLC pack. And get this… Carl Weathers’ CIA character from the same film, Colonel Al Dillon, will be joining him. If you’re going to include a character played by Carl Weathers, I would have preferred Apollo Creed, but it’s rather interesting news all the same.

This isn’t the first time that the Predator has been linked to Mortal Kombat X. Back in July, NetherRealm’s Creative Director, Ed Boon, retweeted a fan-made picture of Scorpion squaring off against the extraterrestrial hunter. Nor is this even the first time the Predator has been included as a guest character in a popular game. Last year, the character was featured in Call of Duty: GhostsDevastation Pack.

Mortal Kombat X will be released for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on April 14. NetherRealm plans to reveal new characters right up until the game’s launch, so we might get an official Predator sighting sooner rather than later.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker will be released on May 5

Atlus has announced that Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker will be released for the 3DS on May 5. Record Breaker is a remake of the original Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2, which was released for the DS in 2012. In addition to an enhanced graphical presentation, Record Breaker will include a new chapter, “Triangulum Arc,” which will be available from the start and which Famitsu (via Siliconera) said will be as lengthy as a full RPG.

To give gamers a taste of this new scenario, Atlus has released a new story trailer for Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker, which you can view above.
