Saints Row IV, Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell, Resident Evil HD, more added to PS Store

saintsrow4-header

A mix of re-releases, remakes, and reversions to a simpler time make up this week’s PlayStation Store update.

Capcom has released Resident Evil on nearly every platform imaginable over the years and the game’s eighth re-release gives the 2002 “REmake” a high definition upgrade and a new widescreen presentation. You can now relive all the thrills and chills of one of the first great survival horror titles on the PS3 or the PS4.

Also available this week is Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, a PS4 update to Saints Row IV. The Re-Elected package includes all of the previously released downloadable content and a graphical upgrade. Its joined by Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell (PS3, PS4), a standalone expansion that asks players to “Shoot The Devil in the Face” to save the President of the United States from Satan.

Speaking of Presidents, Atlus’ Citizens of Earth (PS4, Vita) stars the Vice President of the World as he attempts to stop an alien invasion in a colorful RPG that is clearly inspired by the Super NES classic Earthbound. Finally, DNA-based puzzler Splice is now available on the PS3 and PS4 as a Cross-Buy title.

More information on all of these titles (and a few others) can be found after the break. And, as always, the PlayStation Blog is home to a complete rundown of this week’s new game add-ons and discounts.

Human Element goes on hiatus as Robotoki shuts down

robotoki-logoRobert Bowling has informed Joystiq that his development house, Robotoki, will cease operations immediately. This announcement also likely marks the end for Human Element, their zombie shooter for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. In an official statement, Bowling said that the game is now on hiatus due to a lack of funding:

“This week we have ceased operations at Robotoki and the development of Human Element is on hiatus. We were actively negotiating a new publishing deal for the premium version of Human Element but unfortunately I was unable to continue to self-fund development until a deal was finalized.”

In a previous life, Bowling served as the Community Manager at Infinity Ward before founding Robotoki in 2012. Human Element was originally scheduled to launch in November and its first trailer debuted at last month’s inaugural Game Awards. You can see some of that footage in a farewell video that’s been posted after the break. It also features a quick look at some of Robotoki’s other unreleased projects, including a pretty sweet-looking space exploration game.

Get the Humble Card Game Bundle Cards ‘n’ Tee, which includes a physical copy of Star Realms with a special added card, as well as a t-shirt.

That is freaking awesome and I’m probably going to go all in and get that t-shirt because it is sweet.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection brings Borderlands 2, Pre-Sequel to PS4, Xbox One

I’m having some serious feelings right now, Internet.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection will bring the Borderlands series to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for the first time on March 24. As expected, it compiles Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel – and all of the DLC for both games – into a single package for $59.99. You can transfer save files and characters between the last-gen and the new-gen and, of course, it’s also got updated graphics.

All of that is sort of ho-hum, until you get to the part where the games now have four-player couch co-op. Oh, and there’s an absurd $399.99 special edition of the game that comes with “a remote controlled Claptrap steward robot, a collectible steel case, and 12 exclusive lithographs.” There are only 5,000 of these being made available worldwide, and pre-orders open today, so you better get on it fast if you want one.

Having played a zillion hours of Borderlands, I shouldn’t even consider buying this. But honestly, if it had the original Borderlands in it as well, I would have already pre-ordered it, as it’s the only one I haven’t played with Anthony Amato. And I don’t have $400 just laying around to buy that Claptrap Edition. But… But… I really want to!

Hit the jump to see what comes in the “very limited” Claptrap-In-A-Box Edition.

Latest Project CARS trailer definitely has a lot of realistic-looking cars in it

Do you love beautifully rendered graphics? Then you should watch this trailer.
Do you love cars? If so, you should definitely watch this trailer.
Are you bored? What are you waiting for? Watch this trailer!

Slightly Mad Studios has released a new trailer for Project CARS and I suggest you watch it right now. Whether you’re a fan of racing games or not, if this trailer is any indication, the game looks like it’ll push your PC, PS4, or Xbox One to its limit. And if you’re a fan of virtual reality, Project CARS will also include support for the Oculus Rift (on the PC) and Project Morpheus (on the PS4).

Bandai Namco will publish Project CARS and they plan to make it available in stores for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on March 17. A Wii U version is also in the works and will be released sometime later this year.

Dontnod partners with Focus Home for Vampyr RPG

dontnod-logo

Focus Home Interactive has announced they’ve teamed up with Dontnod Entertainment to publish a new role playing game known as Vampyr. Presumably, it’ll have something to do with vampires, but for now, all we’ve got to go on is this Twitter tease:

Dontnod is a relatively new developer and they released their first game, the futuristic beat ’em up Remember Me, in 2013. The first episode of their most recent game, Life Is Strange, will be available on January 30.

Nintendo will end Club Nintendo in June; New loyalty program to launch “at a later date”

nintendologo

A few months ago, we suggested how Nintendo could fix the Club Nintendo program to better appeal to their fans. Rather than heed our advice, it looks like the consolemaker has decided to scrap the whole thing and start over with a new loyalty program later this year.

Announced earlier this morning, Nintendo has revealed that Club Nintendo will shut down for good in June. Wii U and 3DS owners may still collect Coins by registering products or completing surveys through March, but all Coins must be spent by June. To help deplete your virtual bank account, Nintendo plans to add a ton of new physical rewards and game downloads to the Club Nintendo program beginning in February.

“We thank all Club Nintendo members for their dedication to Nintendo games and their ongoing love for our systems and characters,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “We want to make this time of transition as easy as possible for our loyal Club Nintendo members, so we are going to add dozens of new rewards and downloadable games to help members clear out their Coin balances.”

As a further thank you to users of the program, Nintendo has announced that every Club Nintendo member will be able to download Flipnote Studio 3D for free. The free game offer will be available in February and must be redeemed by March 31.

Nintendo will announce plans for a new loyalty program “a later date.”
