Shovel Knight becomes a Knightrider in Road Redemption

This morning you got to see the whimsical side of Shovel Knight in the fan-made Shovel Knight Holiday Special. But the character also carries around a giant shovel and he can dole out a few good whacks when need be. So this is the perfect time for the wandering knight to mount a motorcycle and deliver some “Shovel Justice” on the open road in Dark Seas Games’ Road Redemption.

Dark Seas had this to say about Shovel Knight in the latest Kickstarter update:

It’s really a great game. It’s the kind of game that actually lives up to the rose-tinted memories we have of playing NES, which, of course, means it’s actually far better than those games ever were. I’ll take Shovel Knight over Megaman any day. Blasphemy? Prove me wrong Capcom. Prove me wrong.

The Road Rash-inspired Road Redemption is currently available through Steam Early Access and will be released for the Wii U and Xbox 360 next Summer.

Watch this fan-made Shovel Knight Holiday Special right now

In just a short time, Shovel Knight has captured the hearts of gamers everywhere. After being created by Yacht Club Games, the character has gone on to cameo in a whole host of games and will make the jump to the PS3, PS4, and Vita in 2015. But first, you should watch Shovel Knight’s Holiday Special, a fan-made animated short created by Wind-Up Dog Animation that features a special appearance from Shield Knight.

I gotta admit, I’d watch an entire series of animated adventures starring Shovel Knight. Especially one from this creative team.

Daily Scoop: December 22, 2014 – Tis the season for gaming

So far, my vacation has been pretty awesome! I have played a ton of board and video games, slept a lot, ate even more, and today I spent a lot of time getting some cleaning and writing done. All in all, it’s been exactly what I’d hope it would be: both relaxing and productive.

I might not stay so productive if I give into this Steam sale, though. There are so many great games to choose from! You should definitely pick up Tabletop Simulator for $8.99, as well as Papers, Please for $2.49, and Mount Your Friends for $1.99. But don’t forget about Saints Row IV for $4.99, The Walking Dead Season 2 for $6.24, and Outlast for $4.99.

The Humble Store continues to have great sales as well. Shadow of Mordor is $29.99, Final Fantasy IV is $7.99, and Screen Cheat is $7.49, among many, many other amazing deals. Scoop ’em up!

There are lots of great shirts today! Hit the jump to check them all out.

Check out the first trailer for Theatrhythm Dragon Quest

Square Enix doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to bringing Dragon Quest spinoffs to North America. But perhaps that’ll change with next year’s Theatrhythm Dragon Quest.

The publisher released the first trailer for the 3DS rhythm game over the weekend during the Jump Festa convention. Theatrhythm fans will surely appreciate a new entry in the series while Dragon Quest will jump for joy at the NES-themed level and all the recognizable monsters.

Theatrhythm Dragon Quest will be released for the 3DS in Japan on March 26. Hopefully an American release date will be announced soon.

CoD: Advanced Warfare’s Exo Zombies will star John Malkovich, Bill Paxton, Rose McGowan

Sledgehammer Games is currently hard at work on the first episode of the “Exo Zombies” cooperative mode for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which will be included in the Havoc Map Pack. And now we know which Hollywood heavyweights have been tapped by Activision to star in the downloadable expansion.

John Malkovich (!), Bill Paxton (!!), Rose McGowan (!!!), and Jon Bernthal (apparently he’s on The Walking Dead) will play four “unprepared and untrained” Atlas employees who suddenly find themselves face-to-face with the living dead. You can hear Malkovich monologue about their desperate situation in the trailer above.

Can they work together? Can they survive? Will Bill Paxton get killed in particularly gory fashion, as he is wont to do (and will he yell “game over, man” as it happens)? We’ll all find out together in January. Well, Xbox owners will. If you’re playing Advanced Warfare on the PC or PlayStation, you’ll have to wait until February.
