LittleBigPlanet 3 E3 2014 trailer has all of Sackboy’s new friends

When the screens went dark at Sony’s E3 Press Conference, then lit back up again with LittleBigPlanet 3 plastered all over the screens, I made some kind of inhuman choked noise and lost my senses for a moment. Then, when the Media Molecule team up on stage started playing, I curled up into a ball in my chair and just kept saying things like “This is so cute I could die!” and “No!!” and “Joy puke! Joy puuuuke!!” By the end I was crying because I just couldn’t take it. Luckily, the trailer I cried through is now online, and you can watch it above.

Sackboy is joined by Oddsock, Toggle, and Swoop, three unique characters who all add a little something to the experience. Oddsock can wall jump and move faster than Sackboy, meaning he can run on little treadmills to open up areas and let Sackboy get through. Toggle is oversized and can move heavy things as well as stand on pressure plates to open up other areas; he can also shrink down to super tiny and get through little areas inaccessible to anyone else. And Swoop can fly, and can help Sackboy and their buddies out of jams. As they showed each character, I fell apart more and more, because the cuteness was just too much.

LittleBigPlanet is slated to be out sometime in November of this year (!!!) for PlayStation 4. Oh, and did you know you’ll be able to play all those millions of levels that have already been created in the previous games? Just take a few days off in November – you’ll thank me later.

Whoops! Time outs Star Fox for Wii U ahead of Nintendo’s E3 event

starfoxwiiuNintendo’s E3 Video Presentation will be available in a little under two hours, but Time Magazine has revealed one of their surprise announcements a might early. The magazine published (and then pulled) an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto where he discusses Star Fox Wii U and its brand new control scheme. The picture to your right appears to show Mr. Miyamoto piloting an Arwing by tilting the Wii U GamePad. Players will also be able to control the Landmaster Tank and a new helicopter-like vehicle that requires two people to pilot. According to Time, Star Fox Wii U is “at least a year away.”

The interview also mentions two experimental games, “Project Giant Robot” and “Project Guard.”

“Project Giant Robot” is a fighting game where players will bob and weave while holding the Wii U GamePad and punch or grab with the analog sticks. Meanwhile, “Project Guard” is a twist on the popular tower defense genre where players use the Wii U GamePad to jump from camera to camera within a castle to blast away at encroaching waves of enemies.

Hopefully, we’ll learn more about these games at Nintendo’s noontime (Eastern Time) event.

Grand Theft Auto V officially coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One this Fall

While Sony had the honor of announcing it during their E3 Press Conference last night, Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto V will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One this Fall. The new-generation remake will include “across-the-board graphical and technical improvements” which Rockstar believes will deliver “a stunning new level of detail.” Some of these tweaks and improvements include “increased draw distances, finer texture details, denser traffic, and enhanced resolutions.”

What does this mean for gamers? Prettier graphics, mostly. And you can see just how pretty they are in the game’s latest trailer, According to Rockstar, the trailer was created using in-game footage captured on a PS4.

“Grand Theft Auto V looks and feels stunning enhanced by the power of these new platforms,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “We can’t wait for players to experience a new level of detail to this massive world.”

The PC version of Grand Theft Auto V will also feature a video editor designed for “advanced movie-making.”

The late great comedian Mitch Hedberg once said, “You need to start a show strong and end a show strong. You can’t be like pancakes… all exciting at first, but by the end you’re sick of ’em.”

Taking this advice to heart, Sony finished their E3 2014 Press Conference with a trailer for the much-anticipated Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The title doesn’t bode well for our hero Nathan Drake and his PS4 debut, but you know it’s going to be amazing.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End hits stores in 2015.

Wondering what Suda51 and Grashopper Manufacture are up to these days? Well, judging by the live-action trailer Sony unveiled for Let it Die, it’s pretty much the same.

No footage of the game was shown, but based on the trailer it looks to be an extremely violent multiplayer arena killfest. The release date was a vague 2015, but the title is PS4-exclusive – so there’s that. The trailer will be available post soon enough.

sonye32014-header

We already knew the Ratchet & Clank movie was coming soon, but what came as a surprise is that a remake of the first game in the franchise, also titled Ratchet & Clank, will be released for the PS4 in early 2015. Which is roughly the same time as the movie.

Makes sense.
