Sony Computer Entertainment Japan recently held the 2013 PlayStation Awards in Tokyo to honor the year’s best PlayStation releases. Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn received the Special Award in recognition of its “originality, buzz-worthiness, influence, and performance.”

After the massive debacle the original version of Final Fantasy XIV was, combined with the financial difficulties of Square Enix’s year-to-date, it’s refreshing to hear some positive news coming from the company. And even more good news is coming thanks to the announcement that the official service start date for the PS4 version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is scheduled for April 2014.

The April 2014 release will follow a beta test of the game set to begin on February 22, alongside the PS4’s Japanese launch date.

Daily Scoop: December 4, 2013 – Fund Dino Run 2!

Guys, I have a confession to make: I love the first Dino Run game. Nothing beats sitting around in your pajamas and doomsurfing your way through an afternoon. Which is why it’s really, really important that we all go back Dino Run 2 right now. Because you want to be able to play that beautiful, beautiful game… don’t you? Don’t you?!?!?!

For those of you who – like me – haven’t picked up Grand Theft Auto V yet, now might be your best chance before Christmas. It’s on sale for $39.99 right now, which might be the cheapest you’ll see it (other than that one time last week when it was $32.99 at Amazon).

There’s plenty going on over at the Humble Bundle site as well. There’s one day left on the Weekly Sale, which features a Philly-made game, Jamestown! If you don’t own that game, the bundle’s worth it for that alone. But, of course, there’s also Closure, which is another amazing game, and one of my personal favorites, Shatter. Then there’s the Humble Jumbo Bundle as well – pay what you want for Magicka and DLC, Natural Selection 2, and Sanctum 2. Pay more than the average to unlock Garry’s Mod, Orcs Must Die! 2: Complete Pack, and Serious Sam 3: BFE. As always, soundtracks are included in both bundles!

Oh, and you’ve still got time to pick up the Video Game Bundle at Story Bundle, as well as the fantastic Game Music Bundle 6. For $20, you get nine video game books and 24 video game soundtracks. I mean, come on! It’s a no-brainer.

Whew, that’s a lot of stuff. But wait: there’s more! Hit the break for some t-shirts, as always.

Daily Scoop: December 3, 2013 – Best Buy deals

Now that Cyber Monday is over, we can all get back to normal, right? Wait… there are still more deals happening? Geez, don’t these people ever get tired? Has this whole thing just turned into some kind of week-long spend-fest?

Anyway, the best deals I found today were over at Best Buy. They have some amazing video game deals you do not want to miss. The best deal on that list is Fire Emblem Awakening for $14.99. That’s the cheapest I’ve ever seen it. If you don’t own that game, buy it right now! Seriously, do yourself a favor. It’s fantastic.

Amazon’s got some sales as well, the most prominent one being their Ubisoft deals. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is $29.99 and Rocksmith 2014 Edition is $32.99. You might be interested in the Lightning Deals as well, including 007 Legends for $7.99 and Max Payne 3 for $9.99.

Indie horror adventure Stasis reaches full funding on Kickstarter

With only five days left in its epic 33-day Kickstarter campaign, 2D/isometric/horror/adventure game Stasis has achieved full funding, edging just over its $100,000 goal. The game, developed by South African brothers Christopher and Nicolas Bischoff, takes inspiration from classic point-and-click games such as The Dig, as well as space horror films like Ridley Scott’s Alien.

Last month, we talked to Chris Bischoff about the game, its development, and the funding process. Now that it has reached its target, PC gamers can look forward to exploring the derelict space station known as Groomlake when the game is released sometime in Fall 2014. Meanwhile, supporters can look forward to the wide array of rewards, including an official soundtrack composed by Mark Morgan, of Fallout fame.

To celebrate this achievement, the Bischoff brothers have released a new teaser trailer that feautres the point-of-view of the game’s fictional Cayne Corporation.
