Think about this for a minute: everyone likes top 10 lists. There are plenty of people out there who like video games, and many of them have at least one favorite. Now, imagine adding these two things together in a mixing bowl along with full-color screenshots, all-encompassing write-ups, and an organized timeline of these games’ release dates. What do you get? With just a little over a week to go before we get this party started, Major Nelson has announced the prices and release dates for all of the games in this year’s Xbox Live Arcade House Party.
We knew that Hard Corps: Uprising would lead things off on February 16, but now we know it’ll be followed by Bejeweled Blitz Live on the 23rd, Beyond Good & Evil HD on March 2nd, Torchlight on March 9th and Full House Poker on March 16th.

Capcom announced today that the god-like Galactus will be appearing in Marvel vs Capcom 3 as a boss character. I’m hoping for some more Onslaught, but I guess we’ll just have to see. You can also see a little Amaterasu from Okami and Zero from Mega Man X in action, which is always awesome.
In an announcement today, 2K Games stated that they have been working on a sequel to 2007’s action/shooter hybrid The Darkness. The Darkness II continues the story of Jackie Estacado, protagonist and demon-armed city-dweller of the first game. No word has been given on whether Faith No More’s Mike Patton would return to voice the demonic creatures, but 2K has revealed Digital Extremes as the game’s developer, again working out of the popular The Darkness comic book series.
Marc Silvestri, co-creator of the comics stated the following:
“Yeah, call me biased, but this second installment of Jackie Estacado’s epic saga is – in my humble opinion – one of the most brutally cool games I’ve ever played. 2K Games hammered this one out of the park.”
We’ll see, Marc. We’ll see.
The Darkness II is expected to arrive on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC this fall.
Warner Bros. must be having a good time with the Mortal Kombat name. In addition to its triumphant return to consoles and a series of webisodes helmed by a passionate director with a great cast, the media juggernaut is bringing the original two films to Blu-ray the same day the game launches in the U.S. Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation will release on April 19 in separate retail packages, so you don’t have to waste the extra dough on the mess that was the second film, unless you really want to. Both discs contain theatrical trailers, trailers for the new game, and most importantly, voucher codes on an exclusive costume for Jade in the PS3 version of the game (sorry Xbox 360 owners). Mortal Kombat will also contain the animated film Mortal Kombat: The Journey Begins.
All of this media is making me incredibly nostalgic; April’s going to be chock full of content to really bring you back to when MK was in its prime. Not to mention, after playing it at PAX Prime with Senior Editor Nicole Kline, how insanely good the game is going to be.
The Internet is abuzz today with the news that Take-Two Interactive is working on a secret game dubbed “000A.” The game’s existance was leaked after a rating for the title was discovered on the Australian Classification Board. The game has received an OFLC rating of MA-15+ for “Strong violence, sexual references, crude humour and drug references.”
Speculation about what 000A could be has run rampant from the highly possible (the previously announced PS3-exclusive Agent) to the ridiculous (“Maybe it’s Grand Theft Auto V!”). But I think there’s a much more obvious (and mundane) explanation for 000A: it’s Duke Nukem Forever.
Think back to your experiences with Duke Nukem: there’s always lots of violence, Duke makes an overabundance of sexual references, the series is absolutely dripping with crude humor and I remember a drug reference or two. Plus, the content descriptors are stunningly similar to the game’s Mature rating from the ESRB (Intense Violence, Blood And Gore, Strong Language, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Sexual Content and Use Of Drugs And Alcohol).
And here’s the kicker: Duke Nukem Forever doesn’t have an OFLC rating yet. Put it all together and 000A spells Duke Nukem.

The wind is blowing outside, turning what should be a relatively warm 40 degree day into the same freezing garbage we’ve had for ages. Please, winter! I’ve already surrendered! And the groundhog did a thing! What the hell, man?
Anyway, there’s not too much happening out there today in video game land. Today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games is 101 in 1 Sports Party Megamix by Atlus for the Wii. It’s $14.99 down from $19.99. Look, Atlus, unless you want to talk about Radiant Historia, I’m going to go take a nap now. K? Thx bye.

Ever since DICE stepped into a contemporary setting with Battlefield 2, it seems the trendy thing for every shooter franchise is to go modern. Call of Duty and Medal of Honor followed suit, and with the latter selling over five million copies in four months, it’s safe to say the formula is pretty solid. Ubisoft announced today that their former Wild West franchise is next, as Call of Juarez: The Cartel will bring the series to the present day on “next-gen consoles” and PC. Developed by Techland, the game will release in Summer 2011 and takes players from Los Angeles to Juarez, Mexico in an adult story taking players on “a journey like no other.”
Director of Marketing Adam Novickas at Ubisoft commented, “Call of Juarez: The Cartel is an action-packed shooter game with a strong story, interesting characters and a wide variety of gameplay options.” In this day and age, I would certainly hope it would be.
