Xbox Store Today: Destiny 2, Don’t Knock Twice, Squish and the Corrupted Crystal

A trio of new Xbox One games are now available to download through the Xbox Games Store, but most players have likely zeroed in solely on Bungie’s Destiny 2. The shooter sequel will take players on “an epic journey across the solar system,” as they do battle with the Red Legion to retake the Last City.

Also available to download today are Don’t Knock Twice, a first-person horror game, and Squish and the Corrupted Crystal, a speedy side-scrolling platformer.

Resident Evil 7: Gold Edition (and two more expansions) will be released on December 12

Capcom has announced that a bundled edition of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will be released this December for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The Resident Evil 7: Gold Edition will include the original game, both Banned Footage expansions, and the brand new End of Zoe expansion. The Not A Hero expansion, which stars Chris Redfield, will also be available to download on December 12 for free.

The Capcom-Unity blog has published more details about both expansions:

In “End of Zoe,” players will find out more about the fate of Jack and Marguerite’s daughter in the aftermath of the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

“Not A Hero” explores events directly after Ethan Winters’ fight to escape from the twisted Baker family in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and offers a different take on survival horror. Join Resident Evil mainstay Chris Redfield as he battles his way through the horrors that lurk underneath the Baker’s mansion, fully prepared with new weapons and equipment designed to counter bio organic threats and navigate the maze-like caverns beneath the Baker mansion. Encounters with deadly foes lurk around every corner – including a new type of enemy.

A new trailer for the End of Zoe expansion has been embedded above.

New Retail Releases: Destiny 2, Monster Hunter Stories, Knack II, More

Destiny had a bit of a rocky start after its launch in 2014, but the shooter also built up a dedicated fanbase that only grew after Bungie released a series of expansions in the years that followed. And now, we’re finally ready for Destiny 2, which will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One on Wednesday, September 6. Destiny 2 is on track to be quite a bit larger than its predecessor, and Bungie has promised that players will get to explore a brand new story, along with new modes and maps.

If you’re looking to upgrade your PS4, Sony and Bungie have also teamed up to release the PS4 Pro 1TB + Destiny 2 Bundle this week.

A more portable, but no less small, adventure will also launch this week for the 3DS. Capcom will bring Monster Hunter Stories to the platform, in a new game that combines traditional monster-hunting with RPG-like story elements. Colorful monsters can also be found in Knack II, a sequel to Sony’s launch-era platformer.

Fans of Japanese oddities will have two new games to choose from this week from Atlus and Aksys. Atlus will release Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth, a strategy RPG, for the PS4 and Vita. Meanwhile, Aksys will launch Drive Girls, an action game where schoolgirls who can turn into cars battle monsters.

Finally this week, two games that were previously released on other consoles will join the Nintendo Switch’s library… WB Games’s sandbox-style Lego Worlds and MLBAM’s retro-style RBI Baseball 2017.

Studio MDHR will finally release Cuphead for the PC and Xbox One this month, and the side-scrolling shooter recently made appearances at Gamescom and PAX West. While attendees got to experience its insane difficulty firsthand, it’s hard to believe a game as adorable as Cuphead could be so brutal.

Thankfully, Xbox UK is here to help.

Microsoft’s British team has put together “7 Ways Cuphead Is Going To Utterly Destroy You,” a new video that highlights some of the most difficult moments from the game. Hopefully, your thumbs will be up to the task when Cuphead launches for the PC and Xbox One on September 29.
