Daily Scoop: October 6, 2015 – Nathan Drake is back!

Today’s the day – Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is out! [Ed. Note: Nicole got a little overeager, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will be out on October 9] I didn’t pick it up – I mean, I want to, don’t get me wrong, but I have so many games in my backlog that I can’t in good conscience do it. So, I’m just going to watch from afar and try to get through some of these other games so that maybe, just maybe, when it goes on sale, I can pick it up and not feel guilty. Ha! Yeah right.

Speaking of buying more games, there are some good ones for sale at the Humble Store. Pick up Prison Architect for $19.99, Skyhill for $13.49, and Read Only Memories, which is also $13.49.

Over at Steam, the Midweek Madness is early access to Ark: Survival Evolved. Nab the game for just $20.09. The Daily Deal is for Kingdom Rush, which is just $2.49.

There are tons of t-shirts today! Hit the jump and take your pick.

Marvel and D3 Go have announced that Marvel Puzzle Quest will be released for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One before the end of the year.

Marvel Puzzle Quest is a match-3 puzzle game and it’s been available on mobile devices since 2013. Roll out with this Transformers: Devastation launch trailer

The only thing that could make this Transformers: Devastation launch trailer more authentic is if it were scored with Stan Bush’s “The Touch.” But that’s OK, because we can still marvel at Optimus Prime, Bumbleebee, Grimlock, Wheeljack, and Sideswipe as they do battle with the evil Decepticons led by Megatron, Starscream, and Devastator.

Developed by Platinum Games, Transformers: Devastation rolled out to stores today on the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Stephen Colbert will welcome The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses to The Late Show on October 13

zeldasymphony-header

Get ready to program your DVRs, the orchestra behind The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses will be appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert next week. Scheduled to appear alongside Sarah Silverman and Elijah Wood on Tuesday, October 13, the musical troupe will promote the upcoming release of The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes with a medley of songs from the game.

You know what… I betcha Elijah Wood and Sarah Silverman would both work really well as Link and Zelda if a live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda ever gets produced.

Microsoft explains the features behind the Xbox Elite Controller in this video

The Xbox Elite Controller looks like a seriously complicated piece of tech. But I’d expect no less from a device that carries a $149.99 price tag.

In this new video, Microsoft’s Navin Kumar discusses the many features of the Xbox Elite Controller including the swappable sticks, and the customization options available through the Xbox Accessories app. Kumar covers a lot of crowd, but the developer seems most excited about the controller’s ability to offer unique control schemes for different weapons in first person shooters like Halo 5: Guardians or Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

Best of all, Xbox One owners will get to try out the app’s many features without having to shell out an ammount of cash equivalent to three games. Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra confirmed (via Twitter) that the Xbox Accessories app’s fancy customization options will work with all Xbox One controllers when it launches alongside this November’s Dashboard Update.

Daily Scoop: October 5, 2015 – So many games

Internet, I played so many games this weekend! We had a blind playtest at our place on Friday, which was followed by more games. Then we spent all day Saturday gaming. Finally, yesterday, in between working, Anthony and I cuddled under our heated blanket and played a lot of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls. It was amazing!

Capcom has announced that they will offer four playable demos at their New York Comic-Con booth (#1420) this weekend.

NYCC attendees will be the first folks in North America to get a chance to try out Umbrella Corps, a Resident Evil-themed team shooter that was first revealed at last month’s Tokyo Game Show. And speaking of Capcom’s undead franchise, a demo of Resident Evil 0 will also be available. Both games are scheduled to be released early next year.

If you’re looking for new announcements, look no further than Street Fighter V. Capcom will offer a playable demo of the fighting game on the show floor and the publisher is strongly hinting that Executive Producer Yoshinori Ono will reveal another new challenger over the weekend. Finally, the currently-available Mega Man Legacy Collection will also be available to try out in all its retro glory.

Capcom will also host a pair of panels this weekend including a “World of Capcom” panel on Thursday, October 8 and a Street Fighter V panel on Saturday, October 10.

Hello Games brought No Man’s Sky to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert

After three weeks on the air, Stephen Colbert has chatted with a stunning variety of guests on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Besides the familiar cadre of actors and musicians, Colbert has sat down with CEOs, politicians, activists, and whatever category you want to cram Donald Trump into. And starting with Friday’s edition of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, you can add game designers to the list.

Appearing after Morgan Freeman, Sean Murray of Hello Games met with Colbert to talk about No Man’s Sky, his upcoming space exploration game for the PC and PS4. While the game’s release date is still a mystery, Murray was able to demonstrate a handful of the game’s 18 quintillion (18,000,000,000,000,000,000) planets for Colbert. The host even got to land on “Colbert Prime” (which is in the “Colbert System”) and lend his name to the “Stephenus Rex” and the “Molebert.”

It’s unknown if these names will remain in No Man’s Sky when it’s officially released, but I certainly hope they do.
