Next Assassin’s Creed game set for late 2013/early 2014

The Assassin’s Creed series has proved to be a big hit for Ubisoft and the publisher is gearing up to release a new game in the series very soon.
Speaking to investors today during the publisher’s quarterly financial report, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed that the game will be released during the 2014 fiscal year. Ubisoft’s fiscal year runs from April 1 through March 31, so expect the next Assassin’s Creed game to be released sometime this Fall or early next year.
Those hoping to continue the adventures of Assassin’s Creed III‘s Connor might be disappointed as Guillemot confirmed it’ll star a new main character and take place in a different time period:
“In financial 2014, we will introduce an all-new Assassin’s Creed hero, within an all-new team and time period, and we expect it to be another major leap forward for the franchise.”
And, if you were worried, it doesn’t appear that the Assassin’s Creed franchise will be ending anytime soon as “multiple teams” are working to create “multiple chapters” in the series:
“It is the benefit of multiple teams, working on multiple chapters of the brand, each getting several years to make their versions of an Assassin’s Creed game.”
