Four new games were added to the Xbox Games Store today. Without further adieu, here we go…

  • King’s Quest: A Knight to Remember (Xbox 360, Xbox One) kicks off The Odd Gentlemen’s reboot of the classic adventure game. Return to the middle ages as King Graham reminisces on his journey from a young teen to the most powerful man in all the land.
  • Meanwhile, Life Is Strange: Dark Room (Xbox 360, Xbox One) is nearing its end as Chloe finds out exactly why time travel is a bad idea. And not just because of all the runaway open-air manure trucks.
  • World of Tanks: Xbox One Edition will, not surprisingly, bring the World of Tanks franchise to the Xbox One for the first time. Players will be able to pilot a wide variety of mid-century tanks and battle both Xbox One and Xbox 360 players in this free-to-play game.
  • Finally, Squid Hero For Kinect (Xbox One) asks players to smash ice with motion controls.

More information on all of these games can be found after the break. (more…)

PS Store Today: N++, King’s Quest Chapter 1, Life Is Strange Episode 4, more

nplusplus-newheader

Sony’s PSN Play 2015 promotion continues this week with the release of N++ (PS4), a minimalist side-scroller where players take control of a gold-seeking ninja. Leap wide chasms, avoid obstacles, and watch out for those rockets! N++ is packed with hundreds of hand-crafted levels and an extensive level editor to create and share even more.

Also available this week is new entries in a pair of episodic adventure games. Life Is Strange: Dark Room (PS3, PS4) is the fourth episode in Dontnod’s apocalyptic tale and Max finally gets an eyeful of just how dangerous time travel can be. But danger is the name of the game in King’s Quest: A Knight to Remember (PS3, PS4), the first episode in The Odd Gentlemen’s reboot of the classic adventure series. Though I doubt a game described as “whimsical” and “charming” by its developers deals with the end of the world.

But speaking of the end of the world, another group of teenagers will have to stop a monstrous evil, actually named “The End,” from destroying the world in Atlus’s Lost Dimension. The twist this time is that the 11 kids at the center of the story are psychics and at least one is a traitor. You’d think a group of psychics wouldn’t have a problem with that kind of treachery…

Finally this week, we end with another dash of “whimsical” and “charming” with Legend of Kay Anniversary (PS3, PS4). A remaster of a ten-year-old PS2 game starring a feline samuari, Legend of Kay Anniversary is nothing if not adorable.

More information on all of these games (and a few others) can be found after the break. And a complete rundown of this week’s new game add-ons and discounts can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)

Life Is Strange’s fourth episode, Dark Room, will be available next week

The end of the world is getting ever closer as Dontnod’s episodic series, Life Is Strange, races to its conclusion. More than a million copies of the game have been sold to date and the fourth episode, Dark Room, will be available to download next week. This time around, things are not looking good for Max and Chloe and the rest of Arcadia Bay:

Max realizes that changing the past can lead to painful consequences and that time is not a great healer. Her investigation into the disappearance of Rachel Amber begins to reach a thrilling conclusion as she finds the Dark Room. Will the answers lie within? Or will there just be trouble?

It sounds bad, but this description doesn’t even scratch the surface of the crazy present in this trailer. Max is definitely in trouble after she discovers the creepy serial killer shack, witnesses a few swirling death clouds, and gazes across a breach littered with dozens of dead whales. The apocalypse that’s about to befall Arcadia is not screwing around.

Life Is Strange: Dark Room will be available for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on July 28.

Xbox Store Today: The Witcher 3, Farming Simultaor 15, Life Is Strange: Episode 3, more

Do you love the great outdoors, but also prefer to experience it through a video game console? Then today’s Xbox Games Store update is absolutely for you.

Players who love to hunt will be able to hunt the monsters that plague the Northern Kingdoms in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The massive open-world RPG, which is now available to download on the Xbox One, marks the end of Geralt of Rivia’s adventures. But it looks like CD Projekt’s most famous character (who’s origins are actually found in a Polish novel) will ride off into the sunset in a blaze of glory.

However, if your outdoorsiness trends towards farming, you might want to look into Farming Simulator 15, which is now available to download for the Xbox One and Xbox 360. Farming Simulator 15 promises a simulation of every part of a farm including “harvesting, animal husbandry (cows, chicken, and sheep), sales of fresh products,” and more.

Stepping away from the outdoors theme is Life Is Strange: Chaos Theory, the third episode in Dontnod’s episodic adventure series. Set within the walls of the mysterious Blackwell Academy, the Xbox One/Xbox 360 game still offers plenty of opportunity to explore the strange time travel abilities of main character Max.

Finally this week, Adult Swim Games has added the competitive platformer Mega Coin Squad to the Xbox Games Store. Mega Coin Squad is available for the Xbox One and it promises “fast, frantic, and tactical” action while asking players to collect coins like they’ve never collected coins before.

More information on all of these games can be found after the break. (more…)

The Witcher 3, Farming Simulator 15, Life Is Strange: Episode 3 added to PS Store

witcher3-header

Woo hoo Witcher man see how high he flies
Woo hoo Witcher man he got the moon in his eye

Nah, doesn’t have the right ring to it… Lyrical paraphrasing aside, CD Projekt finally added The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to the PlayStation Store this week and the final adventure of Geralt of Rivia can now be explored in full. And explored, and explored some more, as The Witcher 3 is supposed to be an absolutely massive open-world RPG.

If hunting isn’t your thing, how about farming? Farming Simulator 15 is now available on the PlayStation Store for the PS3 and PS4 courtesy of publisher Focus Home Interactive. Farming Simulator 15 is said to feature a “brand new graphics and physics engine” for the most realistic farming ever and online multiplayer.

Also available this week is Life Is Strange: Chaos Theory (PS3, PS4), the third episode in Dontnod’s episodic adventure series. Max and Chloe have found even more “dark secrets” within the walls of Blackwell Academy and the pending apocalypse is closer than ever. Good thing Max can rewind time.

Finally this week, HyperDimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed transforms the HyperDimension Neptunia franchise into a hack and slash brawler for the first time. The Vita game features “frenzies of enemies” and a “whirlwind” of special attacks.

More details on all of these games can be found after the break and a full rundown of this week’s new game add-ons and discounts can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)
