Life is like a hurricane in this week’s PlayStation Store update… WayForward’s DuckTales Remastered is now available to download. If the remade and redesigned further adventures of Scrooge McDuck don’t interest you (and if not, are you sure you have a soul?), there’s also the absolutely insane heist simulator, Payday 2. Also available this for the PS3 is the action RPG, Mars: War Logs, and the helicopter shooter, Thunder Wolves. Keep an eye out for the latter game as it stars “elite helicopter pilots who fight evil and defend law and order.” Yeah.

Over on the PS Vita side of the Store, four new games are now available: A Vita version of Fruit Ninja, an updated version of the Breakout-like BreakQuest: Extra Evolution, the miitary strategy game A-Men, and the augmented reality puzzler Open Me!.

You can find more information about all of these games after the break and a full rundown of this week’s new game add-ons can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)

The brothers Mario are venturing back into the RPG world with today’s release of Mario & Luigi: Dream Team for the 3DS.

Tuesday will see the release of a few titles on the complete opposite end of the gaming spectrum including the multiplayer heistfest Payday 2 (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) and the latest strategy game in the Europa Universalis series, Europa Universalis IV (PC).

The rest of this week’s new releases all star anthropomorphized animals…

  • There’s the PC version of WayForward’s DuckTales Remastered. Downloadable console versions will also be available this week and special retail editions will be available next week.
  • There’s the Wii and Wii U port of Angry Birds Trilogy.
  • And there’s Phineas and Ferb: Quest For Cool Stuff, which will be available for the 3DS, DS, Wii, Wii U, and Xbox 360.

I guess, technically, Phineas and Ferb aren’t animals. But they sure are weird looking.

Payday 2 coming to PC, PS3, Xbox 360 this Summer

payday2-dudePayday: The Heist skipped the Xbox 360 during its 2011 getaway, but the sequel won’t make the same choice. Payday 2 is taking the cannoli and the gun and will be released on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 this Summer. The game is once again being developed by Overkill Software and the decision to bring it to the Xbox 360 came from new publisher 505 Games.

Payday 2 promises to be a much bigger game than its predecessor with more heists than ever before and multi-tiered objectives that can change due to a variety of scenarios. Hmm, maybe there is honor among thieves.

505 Games to publish next two titles from Starbreeze Studios

In an example of European partnership, Italian outfit 505 Games, best known for releasing the likes of Naughty Bear and MiCoach, will be publishing the next two titles from Swedish developer Starbreeze Studios. Following up their remake of Syndicate, the developer is currently working on action-adventure game P13 in collaboration with filmmaker and fellow Swede Josef Fares, whose most recent film was the Swedish comedy Farsan.

While it may seem an odd fit, Starbreeze’s CEO Mikael Nermark stated, “When we started to plan the next steps for Starbreeze we wanted to find a partner, not just a traditional publisher, and 505 Games fit that criteria. We feel that this collaboration can grow into a long-term partnership.”

In addition to P13, Starbreeze and 505 Games will produce and publish Payday 2, a sequel to Payday: The Heist, currently in development at Starbreeze’s Overkill Studios. Both games are due to be released as downloadable titles sometime in 2013.
