Motorstorm Apocalypse imploding store shelves on April 12
Off-road racing fanatics and PlayStation 3 owners can rejoice that MotorStorm Apocalypse has met its Spring release date and will be on sale April 12, 2011.
From Monument Valley, to The Island, to the Arctic Regions, this fourth installment in the over-the-top series takes us to a city as structures collapse all around us and frantic looters run the streets. The game aims to be more action-packed than ever before with spur of the moment destruction and stereoscopic 3D. Having played the game myself at PAX Prime, I can assure the skeptics that this game is one of the best arguments as to why 3D can take gaming to the next level.
Sony has also unveiled the game’s final boxart, which you can spy to your right. Personally, I think it looks a little cheesy next to the awesome European art. But then, isn’t that always the case?
I’ve been a big fan of the series since it launched on the PlayStation 3 and MotorStorm Arctic Edge is still frequently in my rotation of PSP games. If the final product is anything like the demo, we can expect this one to not only live up to expectations, but completely blow them away.

Rumor: Square-Enix registers domain name for Final Fantasy XIII-2
Even though we know little about the other games in the so-called Fabula Nova Crystallis project, it seems Square-Enix is moving forward with yet another game in the series – a sequel to the polarizing Final Fantasy XIII. According to this tweet, Square’s usual domain registrar acquired “FinalFantasy13-2Game.com” in recent days, signaling that a sequel is potentially in the works.
Of course, this could be domain squatting to keep others from purchasing the domain – you know, just in case! – but given what’s been said about cut content, and a likely need to add some more Yen to the Square-Enix coffers (FFXIII was in development for ages as you might be aware), it’s not out of the question that a direct sequel is on its way.

Limbo, Red Dead Redemption lead 2011 Game Developers Choice nominees
The nominees for the 2011 Game Developers Choice Awards, which will be handed out on March 2 during the Game Developers Conference, have been announced.
The monochromatic XBLA puzzle-platformer Limbo took seven nominations, more than any other game. But Rockstar’s cowboy opus Red Dead Redeption was close behind with six while BioWare’s Mass Effect 2 received five.
Other big nominees include God of War III, Heavy Rain and Minecraft, all of which received three nominations. Minecraft’s inclusion among the nominees marks the first time a game has received a GDC Award nomination and was selected as a finalist in the Independent Games Festival.
Hit the jump for the full list of nominees. (more…)

FEAR 3 runs away from March release date

FEAR 3 has already scared away several release dates during its development and it looks like the game won’t be released on March 22 either. Instead, the game will make its way to stores sometime in May.
The news of the delay comes from FEAR_Tot, an administrator on the official FEAR forums:
The F.E.A.R. 3 launch date will now be in May 2011, as we look to deliver the best possible game for our fans.
Thanks for the patience, I promise it will be worth it.
So basically, he’s saying don’t fear the delay, the game will still be great.
Battlefield 3 to be unveiled at GDC
When Electronic Arts released a Limited Edition of Medal of Honor last year, the box included a multiplayer beta invite for the upcoming Battlefield 3. While technically unannounced at the time, the publisher plans to lift the lid on the third game in the Battlefield series during a March 1st event at this year’s Game Developers Conference.
Besides Battlefield 3, the entire all of EA Partners’ 2011 releases will be on hand at the show including Spicy Horse’s Alice: Madness Returns, Easy Studios’ Battlefield Play4Free, Crytek’s Crysis 2, 38 Studios’ Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning and Grasshopper Manufacture’s Shadows of the Damned.

Goro, Jade added to Mortal Kombat roster
Game Informer’s February 2011 issue keeps the hits coming as the magazine has konfirmed (via Mortal Kombat Online) that Goro and Jade will be appearing in this April’s Mortal Kombat reboot.
Goro is the four-armed giant you see to your left. He also served as the sub-boss of the original Mortal Kombat arcade game and has become a fan favorite over the years thanks to his rivalry with Johnny Cage. According to Mortal Kombat kreator Ed Book, Goro’s role in the upcoming game will once again be as a boss. And as of right now, it doesn’t sound like he’ll be a playable character.
On the other hand, we have Jade (the green counterpart to Kitana and Mileena), who was also revealed by Game Informer. The magazine depicts her wielding her boomerang weapon and looking awesome doing it in a costume that looks like a mashup of her Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Mortal Kombat: Deception threads.
