Resistance: Burning Skies, Pure Chess, more added to PS Store
Sony has performed their weekly update on the PlayStation Store and added a pair of new Vita games, a pair of new PSN games, and a pair of new full PS3 games.
This week’s Vita update features Sony’s new FPS for the handheld, Resistance: Burning Skies. Also available is a chess simulator, Pure Chess.
And speaking of Pure Chess, the game is also available on the PSN. Both versions include PS3/Vita cross-platform play, but sadly, each version of the game is a separate download. So if you want it on both the PSN and the Vita, you’ll have to buy it twice. If you’d prefer something a little less cerebral in your PSN downloads, also new is the off-road racer Mad Riders.
On the PS3 Full Game front, Sony has added Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Rayman Origins to the store this week.
Finally, there’s more Rayman in the PS2 Classics section as Rayman Arena has also been added as well as a Vita demo of Gravity Rush.
Hit the jump for a complete rundown on all of these titles, and head over to the PlayStation Blog for a look at this week’s new game add-ons. (more…)

PlayStation Store Today: Sorcery, Sega Classics, Doctor Who, More

Another week and another monster update to the PlayStation Store. And I mean “monster” quite literally. Sony’s Sorcery, newly added to the Store this week, puts the Move controller to good use fighting all sorts of monsters with the power of magic.
The many other additions this week run the gamut from old platformers (six “Sega Vintage Collection” titles) to new fighters (Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition) to the world’s great time traveler (Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock).
There’s even a new Vita game (Table Top Tanks), a PSone Classic (Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare) and a pair of PS2 Classics (Need For Speed: Most Wanted, Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain)
Hit the jump for a complete list of this week’s new releases and check out the PlayStation Blog for all the latest game add-ons that have been added to the PlayStation Store. (more…)

Bungie’s New Universe is an MMO spanning four games; first title is Xbox 360 exclusive

As the lawsuit between Activision and Infinity Ward founders Jason West and Vincent Zampella drags on, the court proceedings have caused several enlightening bits of information to come to light. But none is more interesting than yesterday’s public reveal of the contract between Activision and Bungie.
The contract was requested by West and Zampella to show that the contract they signed with Activision was a lesser deal compared to the decade-long agreement that Bungie was given. I’m not sure why that matters since Bungie was (and is) an independent development studio and Infinity Ward was (and is) owned-and-operated by Activision. But some good came out of its release as the Los Angeles Times obtained a copy of the contract and put it on the Internet for all to see.
You’ll definitely want to read all the highlights relating to Bungie’s New Universe after the break. (more…)
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time steals a spot on the Vita this Fall

It looks like Sly Cooper will be stealing time on the Vita, as well as the PS3, this Fall in Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time . Sony confirmed that developer Sanzaru Games will bring the raccoon-burglar to their handheld yesterday, along with announcing that franchise favorite Carmelita will return as a playable character.
The Vita version will include rear and front touchscreen controls as well as motion control options. Best of all, both the PS3 and Vita versions will include cross-save functionality, meaning you can transfer your home save to your Vita and play on the road (and vice versa) in the same game.
The feature was cool yesterday when Konami announced it for the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and it’s cool today.
You can see more of Carmelita in action at the PlayStation Blog.

Lost Planet: EX Troopers announced for 3DS, PS3

Despite only recently being announced, EX Troopers, a spinoff to Capcom’s Lost Planet series, will be playable at the company’s Summer Jam event in Tokyo at the end of June. Currently 60% finished, the game features a new cel-shaded, anime-inspired look to separate it from its predecessors.
The game will take place at an Academy for Snow Pirates as they square off against the Starship Troopers-esque Akrid aliens on the planet of EDN-3rd. The main character will be that of Bren Turner, having arrived at the academy from EDN-2nd. Bren will be supported by an AI-enhanced Vital Suit codenamed Gingira, as well as a sexy female snow pirate named TeeKee, who has the mysterious ability to communicate with the monstrous Akrid.
The biggest surprise about the game, being produced by Shintaro Kojima of the Monster Hunter series, is that it will be released for both the PlayStation 3 and 3DS. At first this appears an unusual pairing, given that the Vita exists, however poor sales of Sony’s handheld in Capcom’s native Japan may be the predominant factor behind the 3DS version. It’s also possible the PS3 version is being prepared as a PlayStation Network release.
No word on if the game will make it to America, nor are there any gameplay details yet.

EA Sports has officially announced that FIFA Soccer 13 will be available this Fall on the… deep breath… 3DS, PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, Vita, Wii, Xbox 360, and iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad.
The latest addition to EA’s footie franchise promises to take a few revolutionary steps forward with an improved Career Mode, improved online play, and more than 500 officially licensed teams (clubs in soccer-speak).

Blizzard is still unsure if Diablo III will come to consoles

Remember a few months back when Blizzard “confirmed” that a console version of Diablo III was in the works? Yeah, it turns out that definitive yes may have been less definitive than we were lead to believe.
Speaking to Gamasutra, Director Jay Wilson revealed that the console version is still very much in the theoretical stage and that the developer still isn’t ready to announce it:
Gamasutra: Are you still experimenting and exploring the console version of Diablo III?
JW: Yeah. We haven’t officially announced it, because we’re not “experimenting.” We tell people that basically we’re experimenting, because it helps us hire people. The better people we hire, the better chance we have to actually make it. That’s why we haven’t kept it super secret, but we also haven’t confirmed it, because we’re not sure yet whether we think it will work, and whether we think we have the resources to do it.
I hope they don’t cancel it. I’ll forever wonder if the devil made them do it.
