Meet Rachel (and Rachel’s breasts) in the latest Resident Evil Revelations trailer

I used to think Capcom really understood their fans, but after all the outrage they’ve endured for some of their decisions over the last few years, I don’t know anymore. The latest WTF moment from the publisher is the above Resident Evil Revelations trailer debuting at the Tokyo Game Show. In it, we’re introduced to Rachel, a mysterious operative aboard the same cruise ship as Chris, Jill and a pack of zombies.

Oh, and Rachel’s look appears to be based on Pamela Anderson circa “Baywatch,” complete with a cleavage-barring skintight suit. No, seriously. WTF indeed.

Three Resident Evil Revelations trailers lurch out of Gamescom

You might call them a horde of zombie trailers. Or perhaps they’re a pack. Though I was always partial to a murder of zombies myself.

Whatever you call it, Capcom has unveiled a new story trailer for Resident Evil Revelations along with two trailers devoted solely to gameplay. Like a zombie going for your jugular, it’s a gusher of goodies today!

You can check out the story trailer above. Both gameplay trailers are after the break. (more…)

Resident Evil Revelations site goes live

The site for Capcom’s latest Resident Evil game, Resident Evil Revelations, has gone live, and is full of details about the upcoming 3DS title. Taking place between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, the game has a new storyline and a new setting but works with familiar characters – Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield. Valentine and her new partner, Parker Luciani, are trying to find Redfield on what they think is an abandoned ship in the Mediterranean (spoiler alert: it’s probably not abandoned).

Resident Evil Revelations will also have some gameplay that is… underwater? RE meets Hydrophobia??? Interesting. The site also lists a plethora of other features:

  • All new Resident Evil — New storyline featuring series favorite — Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield and introducing BSAA member Parker Luciani
  • Classic survival horror gameplay returns — Explore the dark, sinister areas of the cruise ship; there’s nowhere to run and nowhere to hide with evil creeping out of the shadows
  • Flexible touch screen functionality — Using the touch screen adds depth to puzzle solving and provides easy access to switching weapons on the fly
  • Use your equipment — Use the Genesis scanning equipment to analyze enemy weaknesses and hidden items that will prove crucial for the player’s survival
  • Brand new threat — A new kind of horror is set to join the legions of Resident Evil; for the first time ever in the series, players will encounter enemies underwater, adding a unique challenge to the mix of gameplay
  • Alternate Aiming Perspectives — Players can choose the shooting style that suits them with the ability to alternate between first and third person views to best pinpoint enemies

Resident Evil Revelations will be out next Spring. Check out the site for more details.

Capcom celebrates 15 years of Resident Evil with five games

Capcom is resurrecting a ton of games for the 15th anniversary of the Resident Evil series. Not only that, but the publisher is injecting some new blood into the series with a pair of original games. And they want to get that blood pumping with the new trailer above that showcases all of these titles.

First up there’s Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, a multiplayer 3DS game based on the “Mercenaries” mode found in previous games in the series. And speaking of previous games in the series, the trailer also includes another look at the PSN/XBLA HD versions of Resident Evil: Code Veronica X and Resident Evil 4.

Capcom plans to bring out the new stuff later in the year including the return of Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine in Resident Evil: Revelations (also for the 3DS). And capping the celebration is a return to the RE2/RE3 era in the brand new Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (which is coming to the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360).

That is a lot of Resident Evil and this is a pretty neat trailer.

Resident Evil Revelations demo included with RE Mercenaries 3D

With the 3DS now in stores, Capcom has some exciting news for the handheld’s new owners concerning the Resident Evil series. According to the publisher, when Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D ships to stores on July 6, it’ll include a demo of the second game in the series planned for the 3DS, Resident Evil Revelations.

“Set on board an ocean liner, the demo lets players take control of one of the full game’s characters, Jill Valentine, as she explores the ship’s dark interior, killing any mysterious creatures that emerge from the shadows.”

That’s all we know for now, but Capcom has promised to reveal more about Revelations at this year’s E3 expo, which will be head in Los Angeles from June 7 through the 9th.
