Don’t Starve, Streets of Red, Burly Men at Sea, more coming to Nintendo eShop this week

It’s a struggle for survival in this week’s Nintendo eShop update…
Klei Entertainment will bring their procedurally-generated survival game, Don’t Starve, to the Switch today. Players will take control of a “Gentleman Scientist” and attempt to survive as long as they can in a “bizarre and unexplored locale” of “strange creatures, dangers, and surprises.” The Nintendo Switch Edition of Don’t Starve will also come bundled with the Reign of Giants and Shipwrecked expansions.
Also available to download for the Switch today is Streets of Red, a side-scrolling brawler where players do battle with the undead. In this procedurally-generated game, players will need to collect quarters to purchase a continue to keep playing or upgrade their abilities as part of a fresh run.
Finally this week, Burly Men at Sea comes to the Switch, and it follows “a trio of large, bearded fishermen who step away from the ordinary to seek adventure.”
You can learn more about the rest of this week’s additions to the Nintendo eShop after the break. (more…)

Secret Base will release side-scrolling brawler Streets of Red for PS4, Switch on February 27
Developer Secret Base is reviving the arcade-style beat ’em up with Streets of Red, which will launch for the PS4 and Switch on February 27.
Players won’t be able to save their progress in Streets of Red, and the only way to survive the zombie-infested alleyways is to earn enough Cash to purchase Soul Tokens to continue. But this desire to bank extra lives will have to be weighed against the need to buy upgrades to survive the game’s diabolical bosses:
In Streets of Red: Devil’s Dare Deluxe, the only thing scarier than being eaten alive is running out of quarters! A permadeath multiplayer horror beat’em up that bestows players with the skills of retro gaming heroes in a fight against a legion of undead monstrosities.
Streets of Red was designed to be played over and over again, with each run offering up the potential for new content. Six unique playable characters and an ever-growing level selection work to keep the gameplay from getting old and rotten, while the easy to learn but hard to master combat system allows for plenty of depth.
With every kill, you earn cash that can be spent on upgrades, or to revive yourself when you die. You better learn how to make cash fast and spend it smart in Streets of Red because when you’re dead, your save data dies with you. The chills, thrills, bills, and opportunity to learn new skills here won’t stop until every street runs red with blood! Are you up for the challenge of an anti-lifetime?
As you might have guessed from its title, Streets of Red was designed as a loving homage to some of gaming’s most famous side-scrollers. And each of the six playable characters are even based on characters from other games including Shovel Knight, Final Fantasy VI, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game, The Legend of Zelda, and Contra.
You can catch a glimpse at each of these characters in the Streets of Red trailer embedded above.
